Austin Rice Bowl

I have been meaning to check this place out and I finally got to! A great Korean food spot that is closer to me and has amazing quality on the meats. There is plenty of portion size that will keep you full. I will be back to try the other, different options

Wow, what a great combo of flavors! Combining delicious traditional BBQ with kimchi really hits the spot. It's hard enough finding solid BBQ, but Smoke has nailed that along with creating tasty combinations. On this trip we tried their Texas BCS bowl. One with pulled pork and the other with brisket. The bowls contained Fatcho sauce, chili/cheese, kimchi and slaw over rice. The combination was amazing! Portion sizes were large and flavors bold.... we were impressed.

Loved the new spot for the Kimchi Smoke BBQ Shack (previously Smoked). Mainly for takeout since it has a very small seating area, but we were able to snag a table. Food quality is consistent with the other location with some old favorites and new menu options I needed to try. I wanted half the menu, so it was a hard choice for me. Ended up getting the Cho burger, Manila chicharron, curry poutine, and the Chosenthal sandwich. The Cho burger was smashed with crispy edges all the way through. The proportions of toppings to meat to bread (potato bun) were just perfect - a solid burger I would definitely come back for. The crunch on the big hunks of Manila chicharron was ridiculous. The Chosenthal is a clever name for their version of a pastrami sandwich with a healthy helping of mustard on rye bread. The meats were all super tender and well seasoned. As for the curry poutine, it satisfied both my curry and poutine cravings. Tried a bite of the NYC XXX sandwich - classic Kimchi Smoke - it has kimchi slaw to cut the fat of the pork belly. Robert Cho was working that day and gave us a container of a new passionfruit slaw he was trying out which was really refreshing and light - I'm a huge passionfruit fan and I hope it gets added to the menu! Wishing him the best at this prime Ridgewood location!

I have been wanting to eat here for quite some time and this Friday night proved my to be the day! It's s small space located in the corner of a tight shopping mall. There is lots of parking around the store fronts if not there is s municipal log in front. The actual location is small in size s few tables to sit at. What they lack in size they made up for in huge flavor! The nachos with the brisket were great! Chips were Crispy, brisket tender and full of flavor. I also ordered the Pork belly on the donut sandwich. It was a random buy but I enjoyed it. The bottom donut got super soggy and by the end I just separated the parts. The pork belly is a problem! It was crunchy and the sauce!!! Not pictured is the BBQ sampler that was devoured before a picture was confided. Ribs are official, pulled pork and brisket are must buy. Nothing disappointed especially the ribs. They were fall of the bone not over cooked or under, just hit that nice level of tender, yet juicy. Im sure I haven't nuanced anything really beyond saying it's not hype they food is delicious combination off BBQ and Asian flavor, service is friendly and it was worth the drive. 5/5 stars

Pulled Pork Sammie

Yum! I had the Pulled Pork Sammie. It's beautifully smoked pork shoulder with slaw on a soft roll. The sandwich is finished with "Fatcho BBQ Sauce". Honestly, the BBQ sauce is incredible, but there was not enough of it. I asked for a side of the sauce (sadly, after eating the sandwich) and confirmed it's amazingly smokey, sweet, and tangy. Next time, I'll order a side of the sauce with my meal. The restaurant is just hole-in-the-wall enough to present as a legit BBQ joint, yet clean and inviting enough that I wanted to dine in. The service was incredibly fast and polite. I will be back!

What a great place! I'm bummed we just found a gem and it's closing soon (Westwood location). The pork belly is particularly incredible -- crisp, tender and savoury. The sides I loved were the Mac and cheese and Korean slaw. Banana pud for dessert ended the meal on a nostalgic and cheeky note.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great second experience. Working at a doctor's office, we understand our orders are big and can be complicated and that's why we give the courtesy to call as soon as the restaurant opens to provide them with our order so they have ample time to prepare. One of my girls from the office called at a little before 11am to place an order (surprised someone pick up before 11am). 2:15pm comes around and we find that the restaurant still has our order, the driver was given the wrong location for pick up AND delivery, so by the time our food got to us, the food is cold, the containers that the food comes in, is soggy at the bottom and the moisture of the food has seeped through, two orders were missing, and when we called the restaurant, we were put on hold and transferred to the delivery service they use. The delivery service was the one to call us back letting us know the restaurant gave us a refund- which is insane...that no one from the restaurant reached out until I posted an IG story about the service..and that was only through IG DM. Very unfortunate and disappointing since the food is SO good..if you're getting food delivered, I would make sure that you're either really close to the restaurant or your address is easy to find- I'd would recommend picking up your own food for freshness...

Loaded fries, buns, brisket, pulled pork, cornbread, slaw

A lot of food! I think the loaded fries were my favorite. It felt like comfort food, I was stuffed afterwards. This obviously doesn't look and feel like a traditional BBQ spot but I came for the fusion and the meat sweats. The place was empty, its not super inviting--it still had the Covid barricade table when I visited...I think I'd rather take the food to go and eat it at home. I didn't see the the buns on the menu but the host/server/cashier/owner? was accommodating. Overall not a bad experience. Thumbs up.

Make the trip, you will not be disappointed. And don't forget to save room for some banana\nilla wafer pudding. A classic BBQ joint staple, and done well here too. It was almost 5 years ago exactly that I gave it 3 Stars (I'd say a 4.5 now) and a lot has changed since then. First, nationally recognized and award winning BBQ chef Robert Cho has moved to a larger location in Westwood ( with plenty of parking). The larger kitchen means the menu has grown a lot. I consider myself more of a BBQ purist. I try not to use BBQ sauce too much since it's really about the dry seasoning and the smoke, and I try not to eat bread with my BBQ since it is too filling. So you really won't see my reviews of BBQ sandwiches. I also don't try smoked chicken anymore as I find it is usually too dry for me ( even the wings) Although I have tried a "Chonut" , ( BBQ on a doughnut is sacrilege to me) but hey, people love it so why not I guess. However Robert makes some killer brisket. Some of the best I've ever had, and I have had it all over the South in some very famous places. The huge beef rib ( when on the menu) is another home-run. His Korean BBQ wings are huge, perfectly cooked and glazed He even makes a simple hot dog or taco a new ( delicious) experience. BBQ Fries (Pork and Cheese, Scallions) are a thumbs up although I was not a fan of his Cholander Fries (Pork, Kimchi, Cheese, Scallions) He also makes some great Empanadas (of the Day) and "me loves empanadas" after trying many versions and styles, particularly in the Union City \ North Bergen area over the years. Make the trip, you will not be disappointed. And don't forget to save room for some banana\nilla wafer pudding. A classi BBQ joint staple, and done well here too.

Brisket empanadas
Dhara L.

This was the best food combinations I've had by far. The poutine was absolutely amazing. The brisket was so tender. The empanadas were average, wouldn't get those again. The staff was amazing, they were kind and informative of the items. I like the esthetic and location of the place. I love how it's small and cozy, behind the train station. Some make thinks it's loud but it's just gives it a nice atmosphere.

Brisket Box
Chi M.

Bottom line: Texas BBQ in NJ. Can't go wrong. Love: - Brisket is awesome. Has a great crust and a tender cut. Portions are great for the price. Brisket Box is highly recommended! - I don't usually eat cornbread but this cornbread is delicious Like: - Pork shoulder is tender but definitely recommend the brisket

The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. Portions were huge, so we took plenty home for our group of three adults and a toddler. Everything was slightly spicy, super crispy, and absolutely delicious. A small but much-appreciated touch: they brought our 2-year-old ice water with a lid without us even asking. The warm sweet potato cornbread muffins were amazing--we liked them so much we ordered some to take home. We'll definitely be back!

I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.

After learned that they couldn't add a fried egg and no sausage option with the grilled pork, I opted for the three meat combo over rice instead, beef, chicken and lamb. The meat were flavorful and honestly I couldn't tell between lamb and beef in the end. But it was so good, especially with the fish sauce, yummy. Kids enjoyed the fried rice and wanted more of the spring rolls. Only dish that we were thrilled by was the beef stew, ok to skip. The place is small with limited seating. If you are a party of more than four you could have a hard time with tables. There was just one small round table that could accommodate a part of six, but beyond that, they will have to put together a few tables which is a challenge on the weekends. Location is super convenient. There is a Haagen-Dazs right around the corner and a laundry mat. Drop off your laundry, get some Pho, then stop by Haagen Dazs for dessert, sounds like a perfect night.

We arrived early, which was a good thing, as more and more people came in, including some families, and eventually there was a line of people trying to eat here. The service was friendly, though a tad slow, likely because they were overwhelmed. Since I had a headache, I got a Vietnamese Iced Coffee/Cà Phê Sữa Dá for $5.99. This was properly done, being lightly sweet with plenty of strong coffee flavor. On a side note, instead of the standard sriracha, they have a much tastier Vietnamese brand of hot sauce here, which I appreciated. We started with two appetizers. As they were out of the Curry Chicken Skewers/Gà Xiên Nướng Cà Rị, we started with the Lemongrass Beef Skewers/Bò Nướng Xả for $9.95, served with spring onion, fried onion flakes, and soybean peanut sauce. This was my favorite dish of the evening as the beef had plenty of lemongrass flavor, and was tender and juicy. The little side salad was a good accompaniment, and the sauce was nice, but not needed. I would recommend this heavily. We also got the Summer Rolls/Gỏi Cuốn for $7.49, with vermicelli, lettuce, mint leaves, pickled daikon, and peanut sauce. Said dish has a choice between shrimp and tofu, and we got the latter. These were standard with a slightly chewy wrapper and plenty of vegetables. This was nice and refreshing with a good peanut sauce. For my main dish, I got the Grilled Vermicelli Platter/Bún Thịt Nướng with Mỹ Tho vermicelli noodles, assorted vegetables, mint, and house dressing. The price depends on topping, and I got the $15.49 option with a combo of three, with my choices being pork, spring rolls, and beef. As with the appetizer, the beef was tender and had some lemongrass flavor. The pork was on the bone and likely marinated similarly to the beef and was also tasty, though a bit less tender. The spring rolls were freshly fried being hot and crunchy, though a little oily. They were my least favorite part, but I've never been the biggest fan of spring rolls, regardless of culture, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. The fish sauce added a mild sweetness to the cold vermicelli, and I liked the dish a bit more once I added their hot sauce as per usual. This was good overall and a good portion size to boot. Another person got a Pho with beef and brisket for $12.99, and there was also a decently priced Combination Pho/Phở Dặc Biệt for the same price as my entree. I tried a bit of the broth, which was good, and there were plenty of noodles. The last person, who was not as hungry, ordered a very reasonably priced Chicken Bahn Mi/Bánh Mì Gà for $8.95, which they liked. This was an above-average Vietnamese place, and I could see why there were lines to get in. The food was decently priced, the meat was cooked properly, and the portions were nice. I would recommend it if you're in the area and you're looking for Vietnamese food.

We went on Easter for brunch, which we decided to do last minute and they let us know they could squeeze us in. We sat on the screened in patio. They were massively busy, but the staff was on their toes, checking in, taking away empty plates, being very kind (even though they were clearly crazy with how busy they were). We started with the Brie stuff pretzels. They were more like pretzel sandwiches (pretzel sticks cut in half with Brie in between), but were really tasty. It was all so good, I kept forgetting to take pictures until after we had already dug in. The pretzel app came with 4 pretzel/brie sandwiches. We also got the spinach an artichoke dip. It came with a nice amount of chips (hate when they give you too few and then you're just left with gobs of dip and nothing for it). It also came with salsa and sour cream, which seemed odd, but was nice for the extra chips and also family friendly if the dip didn't appeal to kids. The dip itself was really nice, it didn't taste as rich as spinach and artichoke dips often are. I could really taste the spinach, but in a good way. Usually dips like that make me feel overly full and are so heavy, this was a refreshing take on it. We got the Dutch baby pancake, the kids Mac and cheese, the pimento cheese and ham omelet (which I got scrambled), chicken and waffles, and the hot honey chicken. Overall, the food was delicious. The flavors all had depth and were really satisfying. We came home with lots of leftovers and we were all very happy when the meal was done. We will definitely be going back.

If you're ordering from Southern Table, it feels less like an option and more like an obligation. Most of my experiences have been through takeout, which has held up well.
