AKIRA has become one of my favorite stores because I can always find something unique to add to my wardrobe, those pieces that are just a little different and make an outfit stand out. And while I'm doing my thing at AKIRA, my husband can always count on Macy's to find something new for his wardrobe too. So basically... we both leave with a bag, we're both happy, and everybody wins. And we're frugal shoppers. So safe to say we always get a good sale. At this point, a Garden State Plaza trip just isn't complete without these two stops! And of course you gotta feed the belly so this particular trip we went to Carlitos and got our taco fix and you can't go wrong with tacos, especially at Carlitos. I don't know if it's because of the Soccer World Cup 2026, the fact that it's Saturday afternoon, or the sweltering heat, but it is incredibly crowded. I came straight here after work to check it out because I have movie tickets for the cinema located inside. I arrived a bit too early, so I'm going to walk around and explore the place, and I'll let you know what I think later. The air conditioning is holding up well against the massive crowd. I'll share my thoughts on the other places I visit later on. I can see a variety of spots here, though--places like "Carlitos BBQ taqueria", as well as coffee shops, pretzel stands, dessert spots, a Macy's, ramen restaurants, and more.

She repeatedly shouted, "Free Sample! Free Sample!" Between her noticeable voice along with the chunk of meat, she immediately reeled me in. All it took was this free sample and I was hooked! It was piping hot and just prepared on the spot. And the advertisement atop the counter also caught my eye. The $14.99 special deal offers two meats and two sides; this is only a $2 up charge from the single meat and single side plate. The styrofoam to-go plate was overwhelming packed. Although this was a great deal, both proteins and both sides were touching each other. I had assumed I was going to receive two separate styrofoam plates. Regardless of this quirk, I managed to separate everything into two microwavable containers. It made for great leftovers for the next couple of days. General Tso's Chicken/Orange Chicken While both proteins were greatly smothered in their prospective sauces, they tasted practically similar. The original sample satisfied me, but the orange chicken was kind of the same. Vegetables Lo Mein/Vegetables Mei Fun: These style of noodles each complimented the main course. Their texture was different because the lo mein was thicker than the mei fun, but they both tasted identical. While the initial free sample satisfied me, I honestly think I would have been better off sticking to a single meat and side. The Tso's was definitely the pick of the litter. While adding variety seemed like a great idea, it didn't add much in the long run. I also was not fond of both proteins and noodles touching each other. #yongkangstreet #gardenstateplaza #twomeatandtwosidedeal

While many mainstay stores have left, they have a few stores still that could make it worth a visit: uniglo, stew Leonard's, LL Bean, etc. The food court upstairs has far fewer options now. The one thing I've always liked about this mall was that it was easy to navigate and hard to get lost in, unlike its sister the Garden State Plaza mall. Plus parking is super easy in comparison as well because of far fewer patrons. Management also seems to have kept up with the mall's maintenance and decor even with fewer tenants. No tax on most clothes and shoes in NJ so that's always a plus! You won't likely find everything you need here but if that's not an issue, not a bad mall at all.

Today was the day: I was going to go into the beyond, and see the rest of what Paramus Park had to offer. And to be honest, it offered very little. As I ventured through the entire Mall, in maybe took me 15-20 minutes in a relatively comfortable pace, and it SEEMS 1/2 open businesses, and 1/2 shuttered-closed businesses. I like a quiet mall. I avoid malls on weekends for this reason, but this wasn't just quiet, it was strangely quiet. I've just experienced a mall past it's prime. Odd. I would've loved to see it in it's glory. There were more people in Stew Leanords (probably) then the entire mall put-together. Thank god for that supermarket to choose Paramus Park for its location! In any case --- it's a decent visit in the "land of malls".

OK Cuban food that fills one up with ease…read more Considering it's 2024, their lunch prices were relatively inexpensive at $5-$9 for an entree served with rice, beans and maduros. We ordered the Beef Stew entree and Chicken Legs with Steamed Broccoli and there was nothing really spectacular about the entrees, but we DEFINITELY got our money's worth with the size of them. As expected, the Beef Stew was a bit on the drier side, but there was A LOT of rice and beans in the dish. Unfortunately, there weren't enough maduros. As for the Chicken Legs with Steamed Broccoli, it was as bland as it sounds. The broccoli had some vinegar on it, thankfully, so it gave it some flavor, although my wife wasn't a fan of it. For mall food, it's decent, especially since Paramus Park lacks a diverse selection of vendors these days in the food court.

She's been to other Cuban Eddie's locations and likes their food, so she'd been been keeping an eye on CE station at the food court weeks leading up to its opening this year. I haven't been to the other locations but have had Cuban food before. So we haven't tried out all of the menu items, but from what we've ordered so far, Cuban Eddie's is pretty good - especially for operating out of a food court station. I liked the pork chops over rice and beans the best from the main entrees I've ordered. Most main entrees I liked, but I thought the ribs were a little dry for me (it's dry rub and then they give you garlic sauce and bbq sauce in little containers). The main entrees are a good deal for lunch in terms of quantity you get and price you pay. I'll always have a leftover portion for later. The guys working behind the counter are friendly, too, and are patient when you're ordering. The food station gets people ordering in-person and also door dash deliverers, so from what I've seen, they are good with line control.
