Gangnam wings and galbi boneless with radish
    Alison K.

I've been to some other locations and always enjoyed the food. This location is conveniently located on Rte 17 inside HMart. The staff was really nice and remembered me from our brief phone call. We came by to get some wings on Veteran's Day for the 25% off deal. We got 2 flavors we had not tried yet - gangnam style and galbi, both were really flavorful and different than the standard soy garlic and spicy flavors. The galbi has a smokey taste and gangnam is sweet and spicy. I also love their sweet radish as a palate cleanser. Very good Korean fried chicken!

Lunch at my desk - Soy Garlic Wings with Pickled Radish

This week I picked up lunch from b.b.q. chicken, the one inside the H Mart Paramus food court. I work within five minutes of H Mart, so I knew the crisp would keep during the ride back to the office. An order of wings takes about 15 minutes to prepare. After you place your order and pay, you receive a buzzer that will go off once your order is ready. There are so many different sauces/seasonings to choose from. That day, I went with W4 (soy garlic wings) with a side of pickled radish. I didn't want something too spicy that day, so I went with a safe flavor. My wings were good and the radish gave just the right amount of pickle flavor.

I just recently tried this spot for the first time. Even though I frequent this H Mart location, I've never veered off into the "food court" area. I was starving so I decided to give these chicken wings to try. There are definitely a lot of options on the menu that drew my attention, but I decided to go for their sweet and spicy wing. I love how clear and concise the menu is so for anyone who is nervous about experimenting with flavors outside of your comfort zone they really break it down. The wait was about 10 minutes and I was able to go back and browse some isles in the supermarket for some extra things I was looking to purchase. Let me just say, I don't always love chicken or chicken wings, but these blew me away. The price is hefty for 10 but the wings were huge!! Like enormous. Definitely couldn't finish them all and brought half home. The sauce was fantastic. Sticky and sweet and spicy literally what I expected and way more. Now that I know about this place it may become a new guilty pleasure. Definitely looking forward to my next visit and I'll try a different flavor and update. Bonus they give you these little pickled radishes on the side, which hit the spot. I love anything pickled or fermented.

This place gets fried chicken/wings so right! Tried bb.q chicken for the first time, cause I was really hungry, and get my hands on whatever nearby. Luckily that ended up experiencing this amazing place. They have so many flavors to start with. They have wings, drumsticks, bone in, boneless and so many other sides. They chicken is moist and soft. The fried layer is crispy and delicate. Its neither uncooked nor deep fried, just the perfect spot, never really enjoyed fried chicken as much from anywhere else. I also tried the Takoyaki and it was top notch. Perfectly cooked (not burned), with soft inner ingredients. Surely going to stop by bb.q chicken more often now.

Always have had good fried chicken here every time I order. Location is quite convenient and you can do grocery shopping first and come back for your order which usually takes about 20mins. The chicken is fried very well so even if it takes me about 30 mins to get home, food is still fresh and crunchy. My go-to flavors are the Honey Garlic and Soy garlic which is somewhat sweet and savory but very flavorful. The spicy ones are good too but I just have a low tolerance to spicy food even though I love the flavor. The 5 star is, aside from the good food, also for their excellent customer service. The staff here are always so polite and kind. Food is also always well prepared. I appreciate that they have the card to stamp every time you visit and get a discount once youve completed all the slots. Will be back for sure.

They suggest that you order 20 minutes ahead before you go shopping and provide you a buzzer to let you know your order is ready which is very convenient. Love the brick surrounding and lighting. I noticed the wall outlets have USB A for those that need to recharge their devices while enjoying their meal. We ordered the 10 piece boneless soy honey garlic which was in my opinion was just OK. I've had better at the Midtown NY location, even Brooklyn's 8 Ave location is better. By better I mean it was saucier and had more garlic taste to it. This one was kind of a disappointment as it lacked the strong flavors that I'm used to from the other locations. However, that being said, the chicken was very juicy and very tender. It was fried very well so other than it needing more flavor I would give it 3 out of 5. We also ordered gangnam wings which were very well seasoned and tasted great almost exactly how i remember them from other locations. 4/5 as I thought it was a little salty. I would come back if I'm in the area again for a Korean fried chicken fix for sure but maybe try something other than soy garlic as it was definitely lacking the soy garlic flavors.

Simple menu but with so many flavor options to choose from. It was not easy to select just one wing style and flavor to share between the two of us but we finally agreed on Secret Spicy boneless wings. The menu was helpful to understand because it had flavor descriptions and spiciness levels identified next to each variety. It was busy at lunch time but took about 10 mins for our order of 10 boneless wings to come out. They came with a little complimentary cup of pickled radish that ended up being the perfect crispy cool bite you need after a few sweet & spicy fried chicken wings. We couldn't stop eating them even though we were already full from enjoying other items from this food court. We managed to take a few home with us and they were just as crunchy and tasty the next day at lunchtime. I would definitely recommend bb.q Chicken to anyone since there is a flavor option for everyone on the menu. Give it a try then shop around Hmart after your delicious lunch!

    10-piece HONEY GARLIC bone-in wings
    Purpose T.

Always worth the 20 minute drive there and the impossible heavy traffic on the way back. This korean fried chicken is just different. VERY different. I usually stick with the same flavor (I'll venture out next time) - honey garlic bone-in is my favorite. You can never go wrong w/honey garlic wings!! There's a bit of wait because its made fresh to order. But when I tell you it is more than worth the 20/25 minutes from order to pick-up. I do not know what they do to the batter or breading but its PERFECT!! Its not too bready or over breaded. The crunch is drool worthy, the chicken to skin ratio is lovely, and i cannor exclude the heavy garlic aroma that fills your nostrils in anticipation (i usually order to go & take them home so i can chow down in private lol). I will try other flavors next time. But this place is a hit in my book! I think the price is tad bit steep, but I can't complain too much on that because its the epitome of beinf worth EVERY CENT!! 5 stars well deserved!! Oh yeah, the pickled radishes? Whatever it is that's pickled they give in a separate cup - its DELICIOUS, too.

    Shrimp tempura
    Garlic G.

We usually shop at an Hmart closer to home but we were heading to Ikea and this was close by. I ordered the shrimp tempura bowl (cup?) which was a small portion -- 2 shrimp and a small fried dumpling -- but perfectly seasoned, crispy and delicious. Would recommend it for smaller appetites, but if you're hungry, you might need something more robust.

Not so busy during weekdays or lunch time, but you may need to wait for a while for Saturday or Sunday dinner. Marinated Galbi and Rib-eye Steak are always solid choice, paired with lots of side dishes including doenjang/kimchi jjige and steamed egg. The service (specifically the larger dining area on the left) is superb. My family routinely has been visiting once a month for the past couple of years. Recently (Q1 in 2024), some meats were not as good as before, but I hope it was just one or two bad timing/ either not-enough marinated meat or quality of beef. That said, this restaurant is one of few decent Korean spots outside of Fort Lee and Palisades Park. As such, it's become a return spot for our family members who live fairly local. As soon as you sit down, the default beverage offered is warm barley tea (which is much appreciated during those colder winter visits). The banchan, or side dishes, are few but a little more robust here than other Korean restaurants. During my last visit, we were given plates of standard kimchi, sprouts, and seasoned broccoli. I was also surprised to find pumpkin-egg salad, soy marinated lotus root, and soy-marinated ribeye pieces. The offerings change a little from visit to visit, but they're always decent to downright delicious. While I've not been wowed by anything from the menu, I've found most of the meals to be predictable. Hot stone bibimbap is my regular order, and I love the different proteins they offer here for mixed rice dishes. For those curious about the barbecue but unwilling to pay the high sticker price for a full entree, you can try the galbi, bulgogi, and spicy pork atop a bibimbap. During my last visit, I was delighted by the salmon hot stone bibimbap, which came with a great teriyaki marinade. My regular complaint with Seoul Galbi's bibimbap is that the hot stone has never gotten hot enough for my rice to char and crisp (which is arguably the best part of ordering it on a hot stone. Otherwise, why else would one pay the elevated prices?). When it comes to decor and ambiance, the restaurant is fairly no frills. As far as service goes, the waitresses have always been quick - quick to order, quick to serve, and quick to refill glasses (or, when asked, the side dishes). I also appreciate how slow they are to deliver the check, allowing conversations to linger. When my family and I came with a cake for a family member, the auntie serving our table not only came by with extra plates and silverware, she clapped and sang the 'Happy Birthday' song as boisterously as we.

I visited So Gong Dong, a popular Korean restaurant franchise, to satisfy my cravings. I went to the Hackensack location. It's in a large shopping complex near 99 Ranch Market and Home Depot, so there's plenty of parking. The interior is modern and casual with tables and booth seating for both small and large groups. It's not a huge restaurant, so I can definitely see it getting crowded during weekends. I came by on a weeknight around 4pm, so it wasn't that busy. The menu is simple and straightforward. Their most popular items are tofu stew, bibimbap(mixed rice bowl), and Korean BBQ (beef, pork, chicken). They also have katsu, cold noodles, seafood pancakes, and dumplings. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered and received all of my food within 10 minutes. To start off the meal, they gave me complimentary hot barley tea and a variety of five banchan side dishes. I enjoyed the tea - it had a strong nutty/roasted flavor profile. The banchan included kimchi, spicy cucumber salad, stir-fried fish cake, marinated mung bean sprouts, and pickled radishes & jalapenos. All were fresh and flavorful with different tastes and textures (mostly crunchy and spicy). My favorites were the fish cakes and pickled radishes. I ordered a Soondubu Tofu Stew ($16.99) which includes silken tofu in a broth made with Korean chili flakes, chili oil, dried kelp and anchovy stock, fish sauce, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Every soondubu order gives you the option of choosing your ingredient/protein, spice level, and either a side of white rice/ramen/flat noodles. I ordered mine with beef, a mild spice level, and a side of white rice. My stew and rice came out in hot stone pots, ensuring everything was piping hot and fresh. The soondubu really hit the spot. Not only is it a delicious stew, but it's also nutritious. They give you a raw egg to crack into your bubbling broth, which adds a creamy texture to it. There was a generous portion of tofu and beef. The tofu was soft and silky and the pieces of beef were tender. The broth was salty, rich, and comforting. It was a vibrant red color and had the exact level of spice that I requested (mild), which gave it just the right amount of heat. The white rice was the perfect side dish. I really enjoyed the crispy and burnt layer on the bottom of the hot stone bowl. It was a satisfying meal overall, but I'll be honest... it's not my go-to spot for soondubu. There's a lot of other options in the area. It's still worth a try regardless!

For the most part, we already knew what we wanted to order, so we placed an order for the BBQ items and hot pot meats first. Only the meats are the items you need to order. Everything else, you grab at the buffet - including seafood, fish balls, veggies, and noodles. The BBQ items are just okay, but that tends to be the case with you have hot pot + BBQ. The hot pot beef was good but the lamb was super gamey, which turned my broth into a gamey lamb flavor, making everything else I cooked in there have a trace of that too. Bottom line - skip the lamb. As for the buffet, they have a lot of options. Aside from the typical hot pot items, they also have some Korean dishes like kimbap, japchae, kimchi, as well as some fried items.
