    Nengmyeon

-edit May 2023- This time we tried the ramen nengmyeon. The ramen was so expensive for what it is. Other places have egg, fish cake etc in the ramen but this one didnt really have anything but the instant noodles. The nengmyeon was just ok. There are better ones out there for the same price

Unadorned and humble in appearances, Kimbap Cheonguk is a family type of eatery. It seems to shrug off the need to be trendy and just focus on the food. Wholesome, tasty and feel good food, the kind a loving Korean parent/guardian would make. Food made with care and soul. Everything we ordered was tasty and filling. They were made with real ingredients without the aid of synthetic chemicals. Very good value proposition. Will definitely revisit.

This is a hidden gem in Lougheed area. We've been going here for years and the food is consistently good. Our favorite is the kimbap. The taste hasn't been changed for at least 8 years! Still delicious! The combination of salty, creamy & hint of sweetness is just perfect! The filling & portion are generous considering how affordable the price is! - tuna kimbap: our favorite! The creamy mayo was perfect! - bulgogi kimbap: has a slight sweetness in the beef that makes it delicious! Sometimes when we dine in, they gave us the broth that was delicious and hearty. I could drink all the broth by myself!

Love the kimbap here, I would say it's absolutely the best for value and taste in all of the lower mainland - haven't had better, but their other options are just alright. If you come here, I suggest just getting the kimbap!!

The kimbap here is by far the best kimbap I've ever had they know what they are doing! Kimbap Cheonguk is located on North road in coquitlam. Their menu is easy two pages and they have photos of their menu items. I love getting their beef Kim bap! They roll it so nicely, it's a huge roll and the seasame oil they cost it with it's so good. It's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine especially when you eat in they provide this really good hot soup in the teapot that has garlic and in my opinion msg ( I really think it's the instant noodle seasoning perhaps some of that is added to make this 'soup') anyways it's a very flavourful broth and I can't get enough of it. They will refill it for you if you ask for more, same with their sides of pickled radish and kimchi. The soup is a really nice bonus because it warms you up and the food here is so good as well. I also love their stone pot rice pork, it is spicy pork just warning you and it is very hot and love how the rice crisp inside the super hot stone bowl. This is my comfort food and I would love eating here in the fall, during cold weather. This is my go to and I definitely recommend their kimbap!

Humble little restaurant in the midst of Ktown with amazing classics and friendly service. My friend and I came for a late lunch after a hike on a weekend. We waited for about 40 minutes. Super simple and clean layout inside. As soon as we sat down, they dropped off a kettle, a bottle of water, some paper cups and cutlery. We thought the kettle was of hot tea but it was actually soup! Every place should serve complimentary bone broth in a kettle! It was delicious and so wonderful on a cold Spring day! We ordered Jang Te Kook Bab (spicy beef soup with rice), tuna kimbap, and beef bimbap. The portions are huge and we definitely had enough for a snack later.

Beef gimbak. Seaweed is always crispy.

Reliable high quality eats at reasonable price in inflationary times. After following other Elites' high praises for Kimbap Cheonguk, I quickly become a regular here because of the consistently fresh kimbap. Seaweed is always crisp, which contrast lovely with the thin rice and fillings within. Other than kimbap, this joint serves up popular soup noodles ranging from traditional Korean to the instant noodle varieties. Being a traditionalist, I prefer their Pork Stone Pot Rice that had the crisp browned rice at the bottom absorbing all the juicy oil from pork belly on top. Oh by the way, it's spicy! This places closes early so try to be there before 6:00pm to avoid lineups. Table turnover is pretty quick so the wait is usually within 15min. Servers mostly speak Korean only except the hostess who speaks English, Korean and some Mandarin. I always leave with a stuffed tummy and no I'll aftertaste from msg. For a hike in the wall type of joint, don't expect much service nor fancy washroom.

This "snack" was big enough for a 2 person entree!

Total Korean comfort food at its best. So good! The "snack" we order was the Ddock-bok-ki and it was enough for a 2 person meal. Rice cakes were cooked to the perfect chew, fish cakes were not bland and hidden chewy glass noodles were a nice addition. Perfect spice level. Also ordered the Al Bob and Stone Pot Rice and Pork which was also quite tasty. Al Bob had generous amount of tobiko and Stone Pot had a lot of pork. The portions overall were well within the price! Will definitely go back to try other things like the Gam Jan Tang. 5/5 indeed.

If you want good Korean food without the typical expensive Korean prices THIS IS THE PLACE TO COME. It's located in a little plaza with decent amount of seating inside. Get the bulgogi Kimbap it's my favourite, or you can order them to go! Watch out for the spicy food cause it was extremely spicy (way too spicy for me to continue eating.) the service was also good too. They give you broth instead of tea and water and it's my favourite part :)

    - Best kim bab in metro vancouver - get your soup which is really good - the kim bab are extremely amazing - I personally like the tuna kim bab and the crabmeat with cheese kim bab - Come back here for very often since it is very cheap too - Cheap and good of course - I recommend this place to your to go place if you are looking to eat korean food or kim bab Edit 2.0: Always back to kimbab chenguk for some comfort food. It is cheap and best kimbab in town for the quantity and the quality so it is very value. Make sure get with the chicken cheese tteokbokki because they both complement each other. Always ask for the soup because it is super good especially during the winter time. Cheers!

A small eatery known for their kimbap selection. We stopped by here for some Korean food after seeing plenty of high praise reviews. In short, it met the expectations set by others. All the reviews are bang on. The kimbap is big and full of goodies. We tried the regular one with carrots, fish cakes, burdock, egg, and yellow radish. Other dishes we tried included the stone pot rice and pork, as well as the hoe naeng myeon which is a spicy cold noodle with beef, egg radish, and other goodies. Both were very good and nice portions that can easily be shared. I will definitely be back to try their other kimbap and dishes.

I love their cold noodle dishes here! Their raw spicy skate fish one is a special one you won't find at a lot of places. Their kimbap is solid and portions are good. Our family are regulars!! Tip for leftover kimbap from the fridge, scramble an egg and dip the kimbap and pan fry till golden. It's the best!!!

It was Yelper C who told me about this place. I had it bookmarked and was listed as a must try restaurant. I haven't had Kimbap in ages. I came here with two other friends and we ordered the following to share: - Crab meat Kimbap - Regular Kimbap - Tuna Kimbap - Al Bob Oh my goodness! the Kimbap are huge. We ordered too much and was not able to finish. The Kimbap are all fresh made upon ordering. They were huge as well. Our meal came with 2 sides and soup. It was weird how they put the soup in a teapot. I originally thought that was tea. The Al Bob was tasty. I think we were suppose to mix it together before consuming. It came with two condiment sauce. One was spicy and the other wasn't. If you wait too long, it would be difficult to mix the Al Bob stuff together. Overall, that was super tasty. The meal was inexpensive and all in with 15% tip and tax, it came to $12 per person.

This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community. The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite. Here's what we ordered: * Beef Tartare Bibimbap - Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish! * Naengmyeon - Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day. * Japchae - Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all--just the right balance of flavour. Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours--Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We ordered short rib BBQ, Beef tartare Bibimbap, and original-flavor deep-fried chicken wings. Beef tartare Bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl with a variety of vegetables on top of the rice. The gochujang sauce was served separately, allowing us to adjust the spiciness to our preference. It was a pretty good dish. The short rib BBQ was very tender and nicely seasoned. It was slightly on the sweeter side, very delicious. I will definitely order it again. The original flavor deep-fried chicken wings were served fresh and hot. They were incredibly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside--very good! Next time, I should order them with a flavored seasoning, as I already knew the original version was cooked with less saltiness, meant to be paired with a sauce. Overall, I really like this restaurant. The food tasted good, and the most notable point was the reasonable price! It was a very good deal, and it has now become one of my regular go-to places.

Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

We also ordered their seafood pancake which was perfectly crispy and not too thin or thick. The actual bbq grill itself was the best one I've seen at a Korean restaurant because it was non-stick, temperature controlled really well, and it didn't leave us smelling like the food after dining. The ventilation must've been good here as it wasn't super smoky at all. The best dish was definitely the bean paste soup! We all loved it and had never tried it before, so next time we have Korean, it will be a staple in our order! It wasn't too busy last night so we were seated right away. Staff were friendly and while they were short-staffed, they were quick enough to get what we requested and ordered in a timely manner.
