Cash & debit ONLY! Prices have increased over the years, but not much can be done about inflation. Love their #8 here in medium spicy. Their refills of banchan are $1.50 each though. Gone are the days with free refills. 1hr free parking in the small complex. Their Mandu and Gimbap (Korean rolls) are also pretty good. Seafood pancake is decent.

This place is Chinese/Korean restaurant that serves predominantly Korean food. Portion sizes are average, the food is delicious and gets pretty busy. You have to write your name down and there is a seating time limit of an hour. We were there for a while as it was a slow night. The gamjatang was good with fall off the bone meat. Soup was well seasoned and rich. The chewy glassnoodles although tasty, isn't quite the usual tasting japchae and the sweet & sour pork is just OK. Overall the place is nice and cozy. Service is quick and doesn't hurt the wallet.

Out favorite go to Korean restaurant!! The portions are generous and they understand our tolerance for spice. When we ask for less mild it's perfect! The ramen is also a must try! I would recommend sharing this since it's too much for one person. The limit is one hour for dine-in due to its popularity. It's hustle and bustle here. Only accepts cash and debit.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Tucked away in the corner of the complex, it's a hidden gem and one you need to get to early, not long after opening, because the long waits are real! It's popular for a reason - not for the environment, but for the decent food and service! === 2. FOOD Fish Cake Ball Hot Pot ($17.50) Sure - the two skewers of fish cake were good, but the soup worked out well with the rice :) Cold Buckwheat Noodles ($17.50) Neatly presented (well-stacked!) and tasty - what more could you ask for during our unusually hot summer? :) LA Galbi and Rice ($28.99) OK, so the price is scary, but the meat is not! Flavourful, great with the rice, well-cooked; you'll likely be left hoping for more! Sides Note: there are only three side dishes available; your preferences may lean towards other Korean places. === 3. SERVICE Service was good right up until the very end, when it seemed like there was a lot of staff milling around the back in front of two separate patrons wanting to pay their bills. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's older and cozy, and by that, I mean you'll likely be best keeping your group to 4-6 in size or smaller based on table configurations and wheelchairs and strollers may be a little challenged unless they're close to the front door. Parking can be a challenge also as the complex is often busy!

We were told the place is popular and usually very crowded. They don't take reservations. There are 3 parking spots behind the restaurant reserved for customer. Very tight spots. The place was quite empty at 6 pm on weekdays but they filled up by 645 pm. So come early if you are a big group. They do limit customers to 1 hour. And there are only 2 banchan with refills at $1.50. My issue is it's still only 2 plates for 3 diners. They should at least give each diner their own banchan if they are going to charge for refills. Food wise, it is fine. The seafood pancake is pretty delicious with the crispy edges. I had the seafood tofu soup (mild) and it was not that spicy. Very pale soup. The service was good. Cash or debit only. While the food is authentic Korean, I will not come here especially for it. Unless you live in Richmond. I can get other similar delicious authentic Korean food in Korean town which is nearer for me.

Tasty hidden Korean place tucked away inside a strip mall, away from prying eyes. Parking is available but rather limited in the strip mall lot. There are some spots in the side streets if one knows where to look. The interior is pretty bare bones and typical, with wooden furniture and mostly bare walls. Staff were very friendly and chatty and helpful. Food is a bit pricey (especially the seafood pancake), but it sure is delicious. The spicy pork bulgogi had a nice amount of heat but wasn't overwhelming. The seafood pancake is smaller the competition. The so called large size would be normal sized at most other places. Something to keep in mind. But it was quite tasty. The place is pretty popular (filled up on a Tuesday), and I can see why. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point. Recommended.

Parking (6/10) Service (8/10) Ambiance (7/10) Price (10/10) Food (9/10) Been here many times and hasn't dissapointed me. The service is nice and quick. Quality of food is always consistent. Food portion is huge for the price. Kimbap (Korean Style Roll) is a popular dish at this restaurant. Glass Noodle with Vegetable and Seafood is a must-try as well. It's nice spin-off from the traditional glass noodle.

Yummy food! Their pork chop combo is a bit dry but everting else I've had is very good! They have a decent sized shop but also is not big enough to allow you to sit forever. They have a sign that you have about an hour or so to finish your meal and leave basically. So with that being said, once the food is ordered, it's a short wait and it will be served very quickly!! The staff keeps looking at you to see if you're close to finishing because when you are, they will come and clean your plate right away. I personally am not a fan of feeling rushed when I'm eating. We did have an incident where we paid and we're about to leave and a staff member came to us and said that we didn't tip enough. We had indeed already tipped but they believed it to not be enough. Not to be rude but they didn't do much, didn't come check up on us nor did they even refill our water during the time we were there. My daughter was walking to the table with us and the waitress told us to watch our kid.. super rude. Their food is good so if the opportunity arises I will be going back. But that would be if someone in my group wants to eat it, as I personally wouldn't suggest it.

Back visiting Vancouver and was 0c, decided to get soup. Thanks for Yelp Reviews to help me choose. Staffs are quite helpful. Place don't smell bbq stuff. Ordered Pork Back-Bone soup, medium level. Soup was nice and pork stew was real tender. Banchan just 2 items (Kimchi and bean sprout) So far I don't feel the "msg" sensation. As for price, i cant comment much because I just start travel post pandemic so not sure what's the standard price right now. (Probably decent price with inflation and stuff?)

    Japchae (small)
    Natalie W.

Still a solid place for Korean food. As usual, there were quite a few tables waiting. But we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Service was prompt and our food was brought out quickly. Had the japchae (small size) and beef tofu soup. Basic items, but done well. The japchae had plenty of beef and veggies. The portion was quite large. The beef tofu soup had plenty of tofu, seemed like the whole roll of egg tofu. The soup had just the right amount of spice. Only downside is that they only serve two side dishes; beansprouts and kimchi. But they'll refill it if you ask. Overall, Samsoonie has been consistent over the years. Prices may have gone up, but the portions are still good along with the quality. Also, remember to bring cash or debit!

Kimbap. Not only beautifully presented, tasted delicious too!

Came back cause my brother was visiting and he was craving cutlet and I was looking for a reason to go back to this place and try the cold spicy vegetable mixed noodles, so SAMSOONIE IT SHALL BE! Didn't have to change my review much besides saying it was good, only issue was parking cause other restaurant customers... well can't park NOR can they drive!! (Richmond Richmond) must be patient and be aware of all surroundings whilst getting to this lovely spot. We decided to get 3 Big Don Katsu, a small order of deep fried sweet and sour wontons but there was about roughly 12-14 pcs for the small which was great!!! but the main reason I wanted to try these spicy vegetable with fried dumpling cold noodles. I see all the vegetables and pretty colours and FINALLY it arrived. Move the other stuff off the table lady, place that right in front of me! Wowowowowowwww! They give you a seperate squeeze bottle for you to add as much or little korean gochujang which is fermented red pepper paste but this was mixed with sesame oil and some sweetness, was just right. If you don't like spicy I suggest don't add much but for the flavour this is expected. My brother was pleased and hubs happy as well, plus guess what.. LEFTOVERS thank you always to the one young waitress who does everything and still has a smile on her face!!! We will be back again soon!

If you feel like having simple Korean and want just the basics or staples they have them all , and then some . Their seafood pancake is a-ok , just not as thick and sumptuous as Insadong's . Dolsot bibimbap and spicy seafood tofu soup are on point , with the galbi-tang just a wee bit stingy with the beef short ribs allotment . They also charge $1 per dish of refills for kimchi or sesame oiled bean sprouts . Normally I hate being nickel and dimed but their side dishes are so good I'll gladly hand over my pocket change .

So I walked directly across the street and tried Maruhachi Ra-men and I'm glad I did. The main thing was finding something my kid could eat and they had potstickers/ gyoza. I got an order of fried gyoza for the kid and I ordered the cha su ramen (mild). Man it was good. The ramen noodles were soft and had a good texture. The pork slices had a good flavor to them and were tender. The soup base was tasty. Let just say I finished the whole thing. The guy sitting next to us liked his ramen so much that he ordered and bowl. The service was great. Oh, the said they don't take cash. No worries because I was paying with credit card anyway and didn't exchange my US dollars to Canadian dollars. It was a shirt walk from the Versante Hotel. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area. Yummy!

Afuri Ramen had a anniversary promo sale on their yuzu shio ramen as advertised on Instagram page, so my friends and I got 3 of those. They were only $12 discounted from $17.50 regularly. Afuri's shio ramen comes with shio tare, chicken broth, chiyu, menma, greens, sous vide chicken chashu, egg, nori, yuzu, and thin noodles. In terms of taste, the ramen was not bad. The chicken was cooked well. It's a very light, citrusy, and refreshing ramen, rather than the bold, salty, oily, super flavorful ones i usually eat at other ramen places. Afuri's take on ramen is different for sure. On the downside, I thought the strong citrus flavors of yuzu and the other veggies overpowered everything in the ramen which im not a big fan of. Too tangy for me. The portion size of the ramen are slightly on the smaller side too. Service was OK. Wait time for the ramen was pretty long at about 20ish minutes. On the bright side, the servers were friendly and checked on our table regularly to refill waters and stuff. They were really quick in giving the bill when we requested it. All the staff said goodbye to us when we left which was nice. The dining area was spacious and modern. Clean as well. Most of the tables were long, shared communal tables with a selection condiments, chopsticks, and napkins. I kind of liked the chili paste they provided. It's not very spicy though. Gonna have to give Afuri Ramen 3 out of 5 stars mainly because the ramen was just ok in my opinion. I discovered that I don't like yuzu and its citrusy flavors in my ramen as much as i thought. If you don't mind that at all, Afuri Ramen is worth a try. Their yuzu shio ramen is still discounted to $12 until the end of this August in Richmond and Vancouver on weekdays. It's a great promo.

The ambiance is modern Asian, with concrete floors contributing to an industrial feel. Service Quality: During my visit on a Sunday, there were only two servers managing the entire restaurant. Despite this, I was seated right away for a late lunch service as I was dining alone. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, I was able to place my order promptly. However, it took a bit longer to receive my bill and make the payment. Menu Variety: Afuri Ramen and Dumpling offers an extensive menu with numerous ramen options and a variety of other appetizers. Additionally, they have an appealing drink menu. Food Presentation: I opted for the lunch combo, which included gyoza and tsukemen. Both dishes were neatly plated with evident care. The utensils--forks, chopsticks, and a spoon--were provided in a small plastic container on the side. Although I ordered pan-fried gyoza, I was served the deep-fried version instead. Despite this mix-up, I still enjoyed the dish without raising a complaint. Food Taste and Quality: The taste of the food was excellent, with a good balance of salt and spice. The freshness and heat of the dishes were commendable. The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, and the tsukemen had a generous amount of meat. Portion Sizes: The lunch combo provided a satisfactory amount of food. However, considering the price, it would have been nice to have one or two more pieces of gyoza and a bit more ramen noodles. Drink Selection: The restaurant offers a good selection of cocktails. Since I visited for lunch, I only tried their homemade ginger ale, which was incredibly delicious and refreshing. I wish I had the recipe for it! Price and Value: I received a 20% discount on the lunch combo due to the day and time of my visit. This is something to look out for if you plan to dine here. Despite the discount, I felt that the portion sizes could have been more generous. Overall, I paid just under $30 for the drink, gyoza, and tsukemen. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Afuri Ramen and Dumplings may not be my top choice for ramen in Richmond, given the abundance of other options in the area. However, if you find yourself within a few blocks of this restaurant, it's worth a visit. I recommend trying their gyoza and homemade ginger ale, and you can't go wrong with any of their ramen choices.

This came with a lot of interesting treats. In the middle tier, there was your savory two different types of onigiri, savory rice cakes, and elevated salad with a jelly.
