Great food at a good price. Good service, very friendly and fast. Pho is very good, and their spring rolls are good too.

Solid veggie pho options, with a sate peanut pho option as well. I saw that they now offer vegetarian options, included pho with veggie broth. I got the sate veggie pho option ($14 + $1.30 for a large size). The soup came out in about 5 minutes. You get a very generous portion of noodles that I couldn't finish, lots of veggies (broccoli, cabbage & carrot mostly), plus deep fried tofu. The noodles were could've been cooked a little longer, as they were a touch tough. The broth was solid, very coconuty, but not all that complex or flavourful, which is surprising for a sate pho. Good overall, but you can get much better veggie sate phos in town (e.g., at Pho Goodness, Bon Pho, Pho North in N Van, and other spots). Decent, smooth, efficient service, and a comfortable enough environment. Overall, yet another very good spot for veggie pho in town, but there are better in Vancouver. read more

Like their spring roll and salad here. Service was really good. Tea was a bit weird tasting, couldn't quite pinpoint the reason. In terms of their beef ball and flank pho... like the beef ball and noodles (albeit very little topping), soup was ok. In terms of their salad roll, it was ok, but I didn't like their sauce. It lacked a bit of sugar and flavouring. I don't like how the added price is not throughout the menu and only out front and a bit sneaky imo. read more

*Awful RipOff* post-lockdowns (July2023): Was Frequent customer before lockdowns. Picked up lunch to find prices up, quality way down, portions way-way down. For $25 lunch before tip: Salad Roll now 1/2 size (diameter) versus pre-lockdowns, cheapskate preparation w zero lemongrass in roll. Then "Meal" mostly rice. Save your hard-earned $ and pickup lunch at Safeway deli nextdoor. Or go somewhere where $/size ratio makes more sense, as other local eateries offer far better value for $. Have friends in food service, so realize cost issues, but this is a total ripoff. Would like to give zero stars. read more

A decent place for some great lemon grass chicken, spring rolls and a chicken sub sandwich.

We had lunch here and yum yum yum!! The spring roll was a bit oily but tasted good and my soup was so good!!! If I lived nearby, I'd come here often but I'll drive here because it's so very good. This was definitely a good choice we made to come eat here! read more

Decent Vietnamese joint for this part of town. The customer service here was surprisingly attentive and the food came out within maybe 3-5 minutes of ordering, which is astonishing. The bathroom is also quite clean. I ordered the Lemongarss Pork with Spring Roll (9.50). The pork was a bit on the fatty side, but it meant it was also quite juicy. It had a tasty marinade to it and was nicely grilled. The spring roll was a bit on the greasy side, however. That said, it was quite crispy. Would recommend to the working lunch crowd given how quickly they can churn out food! read more

Tucked away in the Safeway plaza here this place is often sparse. Service is super friendly and attentive as I suspect it's the owner that also staffs the place. They do have bubble tea here but of course with Dragon Ball Tea House so close by it certainly doesn't have that level of traffic. They have various small munchies and meals and decent seating so it makes for good place to sit down and actually hang out and have a conversation with friends. read more

Depends what you want. I'm picky with my pho so I will drive 30 min further for real authentic, that serves the Vietnamese people. But if you are craving it or a client wants to go, fine with me. I'm a sucker for a good bowl of noodle soup and this place doesn't disappoint. I have to admit that a younger me would never have stepped into this place as this strip mall is notorious for mediocre food. Today, however, I am willing to give this place another chance and it seems like things have taken a turn for the better. My go to is always the special bowl of pho with an additional spring roll for $2. The broth here is flavourful and the meat is plentiful. Sprouts, lime and a small brand of basil comes standard. The spring roll is generously sized and overall delicious. Ice coffee is also good and almost chocolate in flavor. It can be taken to go! Decor is colourful. Music is good. One day I will try other items on their menu but for the time being I will continue to crawl out of bed and migrate here for that comforting bowl of pho. *place is called Kim Express now* *don't forget to grab a Mandarin orange and chocolate on the way out* read more

This isn't the best Vietnamese I've had in the area, but it sure isn't the worst! Good for tasty pho, excellent spring rolls, and a good bahn mi, though the chicken was a little fatty for my liking. We have eaten most of this menu and all good choices. The standouts for us are the spring rolls - super tasty and served piping hot, and the lemongrass chicken - not the leanest cut of chicken, but really tasty. Ordered up the Chicken on Grill with Rice and Veg ($9.99) - and an overflowing plate was placed in front of me. A mountain of fresh broccoli, crisp carrots, perfectly sweet onions, and chunks of fresh red pepper. That was the veg half of the plate. The chicken was tender, nicely seasoned, though not spicy, and the rice was just perfect. Smoky black tea comes with all meals. Grill meals are available only after 3pm, so this late lunch was also my supper. Other customers were enjoying Pho with generous branches of basil and a bowl of sprouts. Ask for chill on the side if you prefer spice. Kim is a nice mom and pop place. Walls are citrus coloured with colourful photos framed in black. Friendly service. Thoughtful, too; she added rice to my take-home box! Bonus: wheelchair accessible including washroom. A two-block walk from Women's and Children's Hospital, and across from G F Strong Rehab Centre. Its a little dark and musty inside. Their salad rolls are huge and they made them for me but the skin was still very hard and chewy and need more moisture. The chicken roll is thigh meat but i would have preferred just one roll with breast meat but they were nice. read more

I frequent this place for lunch. It is a pretty typical and standard Vietnamese place. I usually order the lemon grass chicken which, for the value, is quite good. I've had the pho on occasion, but there are certainly better places in Vancouver, in my opinion. The service is sub-par. There is little enthusiasm or emotion in the service. Suffice it to say, I usually order it as take-out and eat outside or at work instead. read more

Friends work in the area so I end up here one in a while! Pho is decent - nothing particularly noteworthy. Only complaint is that there's only one size for pho, which is unusual for a pho place. I usually get the pho and a side spring roll, so I suspect it's closer to a small than a medium. The price point is (if my memory is correct) $7.80, which is on the pricy side for mediocre pho! All in all, you could easily do better, but most people eating here during lunch are from the Children's/Women's hospital and there just aren't that many options. read more

My husband and I have been going to this place at least once a week for about a year, service was always good and Pho was decent. We stopped going there in November. It has gone down hill. We gave it few chances to rectify they served poor pho quality. The first time of disappointment was that the broth was luke warm, we sent it back, waitress came back with new bowls of pho, hot but not as hot as it should be, but we accepted it. Second time of disappointment was same, broth was luke warm, and waitress told us the reason the broth was luke warm was because we added the sprouts, but she took it to kitchen and returned with new bowls of pho. Third time of disappointment was again same, broth was luke warm, and we called waitress over, did not add sprouts or anything to bowl, she took it back to kitchen, returned with the same bowls of pho, but with the addition of cilantro in my bowl, I have always had no cilantro and all of sudden there it was heaping spoonfuls of cilantro, and was cold. We stood up and called the waitress and said this is unacceptable and you have just lost loyal customers. I guess the cook was pissed off that we sent the pho back and to spite us, he tossed on heaps of cilantro. I should of took picture, but we were too mad to experience this poor service. We have always left a good tip, and we are always polite and thanked the waitress, the hostess for good service..but what the heck happened. The restaurant food has gone down hill. Strip mall, bad lighting and no beer. Food is decent, good broth and tasty beef in the soup. Probably won't go again - you can get similar or better pho at local joints that have a liquor license and better atmosphere. I wwalked over from GF Strong and had some time before an appointment so I stopped by. Extremely friendly helpful staff, they moved my walker for me so it wasn't in the way. I told the waitress it was my first foray into Vietnamese cuisine so she explained each dish to me. Very colourful photos in the menu and outside. I ordered the daily special, fr $9.25 I had a shrimp salad roll spring roll and chicken salad. The food arrived quickly and I truly enjoyed the freshness with my complimentary tea. During the meal a young lady stopped at all tables with a basket, you could choose from minichocolates and mandarin oranges. It was a nice treat.I wasn't able to finish my meal so the waiter quickly packed the salad and I received my bill. I noticed other patrons enjoying their meals. Once I got to the door the waiter called out t wait so he could get the door for me. I appreciated the quick seating, great food and low prices, and large portions. As a person with a disability I wish the door opened automatically but small detail to overlook. I'll be back again soon read more

It was typical Vancouver weather, cold and rainy, so I thought a big hot bowl of pho would make for an ideal lunch. Being as it was raining and Kim Express was only a three minute walk from where I am I figured it'd be perfect. Now, I'm not exactly picky when it comes to food, but I know if something is good and if something is not. At least, according to my personal taste. The inside of the restaurant is a bit narrow with tables lining each wall. The inside was very colorful and bright. Nice to see in cloudy Vancouver. It wasn't very busy when I first got there, but after about 20 minutes, the place was almost full. Must have been the late lunch time rush. The young woman who was running the place (native to Vietnam, we asked) was very nice and answered all of questions with a smile on her face, even with her thick accent. I ordered the chicken pho, which was just delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. The broth was a tad salty, but that's the way I like my broth so it was perfect for me. I was surprised by how much flavor was packed in to the dish. I also had a side of fresh shrimp spring rolls which came with peanut dipping sauce. The rolls were great and the sauce went perfectly with them. For the portions, prices are definitely reasonable. I got a huge bowl for about $8 plus $4 for two (quite large) spring rolls. The spring rolls were so big I could only eat one and gave the other to my Aunt who was with me. She got a spicy noodle soup with beef, which she said was also delicious. I walked out full and happy and definitely willing to come again. All in all, if you're looking for a place with good pho, friendly service, and nice atmosphere, this is it. read more

Love the pho here but I am deducting 1 star because it is slightly pricier than the regular pho joints. Having said that, the quality of the beef and the flavour of the broth is above average. They have 2 sizes - small and large - and the small is a decent size. The grilled chicken with rice is also yummy. I think they may also do Banh Cuon but it is not advertised on their menu. A real find for this area. I have not encountered any rudeness but you have to realize that quality of service is often not a priority in a pho restaurant. read more

This is a simple unassuming Vietnamese restaurant in a Vancouver strip mall but the food is pretty good. I've tried the lemongrass chicken with rice, various Vietnamese subs, and beef pho. The price is reasonable, quantities are adequate and the quality and taste I'd give them a B to B+. But the owner (a Vietnamese lady maybe the namesake Kim?) is a very nice and pleasant lady. I would rather eat at a place with good service and decent food than a place with crappy service but excellent food. But that's just me. Having said that, the food here is definitely more than just decent. read more
