The ice cream really is delicious. My favorite is Cookies & Cream, so I just always get it in order to compare locations, and this is one of my favorites. I can't vouch for anything else though. The only downside is no seating! It was rainy and we wanted to just perch somewhere to eat our ice cream. The prices are very high for let's face it a chain store. The staff doesn't always know the answer to the questions regarding chocolate fillings or suggestions; even mixing up light or dark chocs in the bag. A chocolatier or expensive gift shop needs to know their stuff. Nothing has tasted poor though. read more

Remember that infamous line in Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega's says: "I gotta know what a $5 shake taste like.." Ok, well here we are 20 years later and I found myself asking the same question today, only this time it was, "I gotta know what an $8 shake taste like..." That's right, I ordered a strawberry malt milkshake today for $8 at Kilwins in Fells Point. My lady thought I lost my marbles but as a self-proclaimed milkshake connoisseur I just HAD to get one. And oh my lord in hell was this the baddest ass milkshake in all the land. Holy shit, this thing was like an orgasm in a cup.. actually better than that... this was liquid gold... the kind of stuff that you can only hope to experience in your life. I'd pay $20 for this milkshake it was that damn good... Aside from that, the store is super clean. The workers are very nice... the selection is top notch and everything is homemade. I wanted to consume everything from the homemade nonpareils to the peanut butter rice krispy treat. Granted, it's not cheap but I did get to sample some of the ice cream and it was definitely awesome. My advice, GET THE MILKSHAKE!! If you don't like it, I'll take the blame! read more

Kilwin's is racist--don't go!! A man that worked there stopped me and my friend because they thought he was stealing. I'm brown and he's black, he didn't touch a single thing in the store while I picked up and checked the price of every single box of chocolates. They made him turn out his pockets because they suspected him of stealing and I protested heavily: he hadn't touched a single thing in the store. Kilwin's is a welcome new addition to the heart of Fells Point! I've sampled their fudge and ice cream, and just ate a caramel apple which was awesome! (Sidenote: I haven't had one since I was a kid, and I would HIGHLY reccomend it to everyone!) After a delicious meal at Riptide by the Bay, my friends and I decided to walk off our meal around Fells Point. We were thinking about dessert, but nothing really stuck out until we came across Kilwins. A few people were just walking out and whatever they had ordered looked delicious. We walked in and went up to the ice cream counter. I tried a sample of their Cinnamon Crumb Cake ice cream and immediately fell in love. I ordered that in a maple cinnamon (I think) waffle cone. I thought the combination would be pretty amazing, but the cone didn't leave much to be desired. I still ate all the ice cream out of that cone because it was truly fantastic. They also have fudge and chocolate too. My friend tried the fudge and ended up buying some to take with them. Came to fells point out of random. In fact, when I was living in Baltimore, I've never been here. After I moved to Virginia, I found this spot and felt lucky that I tried their ice cream. They have different flavors. Before you decide what flavors you like, you can always ask for samples. My friend got the peach yogurt, pistachio and toasted coconut in a waffle bowl, it costs around 11 dollars. The portion is generous and four of us shared it. As for the ice cream, OMG, it is so good. The texture is dense and creamy. And they don't skimp on the ingredients. For peach yogurt, you can see actual peach in it; same with pistachio and coconut. The toasted coconut is my favorite of all. It has a strong coconuty flavor and is melting in your mouth. Rich and smooth. As for the waffle, it is fresh made in the house and tastes so good. Crunchy and buttery. Come to try their ice cream and it is to die for and worth every penny! read more

Updated: After posting my initial review, an owner commented on the prices of their offerings. Well thanks for confirming, now i know that I got TOTALLY RIPPED OFF. Was mentioned that in the $7 range of ice cream goodies it's a Signature Sundae served in a waffle bowl/cone. Hm.. That's not what I ordered or even got! When I think 'sundae' I'm thinking whipped cream hot fudge cherry and a waffle bowl is pretty hard to confuse that up... Nope I ordered one scoop (even said please just a small one) in a Paper cup. No toppings no additional goodies just as plain and simple as one small scoop in a cup.. Oh right and a spoon. They man who scooped it said "oh mam, we don't do just scoops its by weight". Interesting to see the lack of staff knowledge on their products and how they sell things. Watch what they ring up at the registers! ------------- $7+ for ONE scoop of ice cream?!..... That being said, they are strategically located across from the bar The Horse so of course I was lured in after a few drinks later, ice cream seemed like a genius idea! I had their summer special, Georgia Peach. Must say there were HUGE chunks of peaches in there.. Yum. Also bought a rice krispy treat that was dipped in pecans and drizzled with chocolate and caramel for my other drunken fellow friends. That was delicious as well. But for $5+ for a little bar? Eh.. Definitely good stuff in there but for that price and nothing extra spectacular that anyone could make at home... I won't be back for treats at that price... Perhaps the best ice-cream I have ever tasted and I have visited every chain imaginable and many small specialty stores/creameries. It definitely ranks or ties for first. It is expensive but I can justify it every once in a while when I'm in Fells. Pitango and Maggie Moos, although both great places, cannot compare to the rich, creamy, intense flavor of this ice cream. Sundaes at Maggies might be better and gelato is just different. If you are looking for just plain best of the best quintessential ice cream then go here. We had the Louisiana Praline and were fighting over the cup. read more

Kilwin's has AMAZING fresh fudge and chocolate-covered-cherries. I also ordered a drink (I forget the name of it), which was a mix of rasperry sorbet, lemon sorbet, and Sprite. It was very refreshing! The staff was friendly and funny, with the exception of the owner (????), who didn't seem to take much, if any, interest in what we were purchasing. I don't have a lot of experience with ice cream shops in Baltimore, let alone Fells Point, but my lone experience at Kilwins was great. My son got a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone and I tried a peanut butter and chocolate ice cream cup. Neither disappointed! The staff was very friendly and answered all of our "touristy" questions with delight. We passed by this place on our way to Pitango Gelato and saw it had good reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. I got the sea salt caramel ice cream, which was good but not great-- a little too sweet for me. He got raspberry sorbet and thought it was nothing special. I went in at 8.15 tonight and they close at 9. We stood at the counter ready to order for 5 minutes while a guy behind the counter continued to mop the floor. I finally asked if anyone was able to help us and he stopped to help us. He grabbed the cones and went right into the case touching all the ice cream with his dirty hands he was using to mop the floor. I asked if he could wash his hands before touching the food, so he gave me a dirty look and washed his hands with plane water, than grabbed the same cones he was handling before he washed his hands. I asked if they had food service gloves and he stated "no". I asked the worker how he could handle money, mop floors and clean and serve Ice cream and never wash his hands, he said I was the only person all day that had a problem with it!!! Let me start off by saying, amazing! Such great flavors of ice cream. Although they are on the pricey side I would still recommend. It's smell f**king AMAZING in there, like chocolate. The store is clean, there aren't any smudges on the glass, no stains on the floor.. That's typical things I pay attention to, is the cleanliness of a place. The staff, super sweet. I was surprised to see so many beautiful black faces in a white owned store, but I loved every second of it. These ladies are definitely breaking the trend of "rachet black retail workers". My fiancé is a huge sweets person so we just had to stop by here last weekend. He got a chocolate covered smore with peanut butter and I got the apple pie caramel apple. I think our total was like $16?! My apple was lacking a lot of cinnamon sugar and the white chocolate was extremely sweet. The apple itself was super tart. Walked past the store today and just had to go inside. Everything looked AMAZING and I'm sure that it would have tasted even better. Unfortunately, the store employees left such a bad taste in my mouth that my boyfriend and I decided to leave without buying anything. Rude would be an understatement, no one greeted us when we entered,and when I attempted to make small talk with one employee about the chocolate pieces in the case, she shrugged me off and walked away. Everyone who worked there made it clear that they didnt want to be there, nothing worse than going to a place excited and then having it's employees ruin it for you.
