This company seemed all great to work with, until after the inspection of our home. First, we had wanted to pay for the inspection (their initial inspection is not free), since we had a coupon for $30 off. The technician said there was no need to pay- even after we told him that we were shopping around for services and really did want to pay and avoid hassles if we did not choose their service- to which he said - THERE IS NO CHARGE. Secondly, we had asked the technician for a quote, which we never received after the visit. ZERO follow up. Fast forward almost 2 months later and I get a very rude call from an accounts payable person at Kilroy who told me my account was past due. Excuse me what??? I explained to her the situation and was told that we still had to pay- and our coupon would no longer be honored. This is extremely unprofessional behavior - and frankly, makes me glad that I did not go with Kilroy's for my needs. read more

We don't have any bug/rodent issues for now (knock on wood) so it was just the preventative spray. I am reducing this company to 1 star. I did speak with them about my old issue and nothing really got resolved. But now, for a whole different matter, I am dropping them to 1 star and am so very upset about them, and suggest you think twice about them. Here' why: I was on a once every 2-month service plan with this company. Typically I would get a call in the late afternoon of the day before someone was to visit my home. I repeatedly asked to get a heads up a few days in advance. This never happened, so I would often not be able to have the inside of my home sprayed. Anyhow, as I have pets inside, I didn't make it a big issue. Then one day I noticed that I have been having tons of spriders and bugs inside the house. And I realized... I had not been visited by the company for over 6 months!!! I called them to ask why my rep had not been calling or visiting me. The answer I got: they apparently changed their software system and in that process, I was not transitioned to the new system. Therefore, in their system I was no longer a valid customer!! I guess my bad for not recognizing for over 6 months that I had not been sprayed. But now I had a bug issue, so I asked the lady how do I get started right away? Their response is what earns them a 1 STAR! According to the lady, I had to go through an evaluation and an initial service that all new customers go through... And I had to pay over $200 for that alone. And then, after that, my monthly rate would increase by over $20! This was absurd, and I told her that. I had been a customer with these guys since like 2007, and I was being told to pay a new initiation fee and an increased rate. I was not having it. I told her I was very disappointed and that I demanded a manager call me. Guess what... no one ever called. I went to home depot and bought my own spray and hit the perimeter of the house and things are better. But I was hoping to get back on a system with these guys. They really did me wrong! They have been over a few times. Once to get rid of a wasp nest, which my husband wanted to take care of himself. He ended up stung by a bee with his arm swollen for weeks. Killroy took care of it in a matter of minutes. We've had rat and move problems in our attic for a long time and had others come to find the points of entry. They didn't find all of them and we continued having problems. Rick and Joe were here and found the areas others missed and closed the up. They are very professional, capable, and personable. They also charge a very reasonable fee comparing to others who charged more and did less. I highly recommend them. read more

Questionable business. Switch n bait with pricing - on the phone, clearly quoted $195 for first visit with a $30 first customer discount. Then tech comes around and adds $10 for processing! What are they processing? Administration then attempts an argument saying that they always quoted $205, and I, a first-time customer, heard wrong! And these knuckleheads wish to continue doing business in the bay area, well not for long unless they massively revamp their customer service. Reporting to BBB as well. David Flowers came today to check out a stair landing tile sinking for termites in the underlying structure. He went under the building thru a crawlspace to examine this area but was unable to access it. He found no evidence of termites in the areas surrounding the landing. After a month of service, still have horrible rodent problem. Droppings all over our deck. We only get excuses. They loose our checks when we send them in and then they blame us. I recently purchased a new home in the Santa Cruz area and quickly began a war against ants and spiders. I finally relinquished and set out to find an environmentally friendly pest control service to fight my battles for me. After an exhaustive search, I found Kilroy Pest Control. They were friendly, professional, and thorough with the intake interview over the phone. Ms. Lauren Kersten was put in charge of my service, given that she is in charge of the alternative pesticide methods for Kilroy. After answering all of my questions via phone about the types of plant-based pesticides being used, Ms. Lauren scheduled an appointment for a few days later (a very quick turnaround from my initial call to home service call!). Ms. Lauren showed up at my door wearing a friendly looking khaki uniform and holding a long pole with rounded bristles on the end (for spider web removal). She was friendly, highly knowledgeable, and reassuring that she could get my pest issue under control. After a thorough spraying of my property and extensive web removal (imagine Halloween type fuzzy webs everywhere!), Ms. Lauren checked back in and told me that she would be the one in charge of my account for all future needs. She also guaranteed her work! Steve has done a GREAT job eliminating our ANT problem! I was disgusted seeing literally hundreds of Argentine ants crawling all over my kitchen counters and in the cupboards! I live in Gilroy and have been using Kilroy off and on since we bought our house in 2004. We started with tech Steve who was horrible with his follow ups and customer service. Would only come around when I make a call for service. He transferred to another area and than Michael was assigned to our area, thank you very much. Michael was proactive with his service and great with his customer. Now gone from the company. We stopped using Kilroy for a bite knowing we were going to get stuck with Steve again. Spoke to management about my previous service with him to give Steve another shot,for what nothing has changed, not proactive only reactive when I make a call and usually around payment time. As a customer Steve has been horrible rep for Kilroy. He is lucky a star is required to post a comment. read more

Have had Killroy's quarterly services for couple of years - one for a residential home and the other for a 4-plex. I started the services to prevent problems and have someone on hand when a problem arises. So far I've determined it's not worth it. Apparently the only thing covered is ants although their website would suggest the opposite. Moles - extra, Bees - extra, roaches - extra, mice - extra ! And it's not like $20 extra, more like $65 to $300 each visit in addition to the quarterly payments. Not that the other guys don't do the same but thought this company would be better. Might as well just call when I need them. Will be cancelling both services next. Gave them 3 stars because they responded quickly, very friendly and billing was easy. read more

We had an ant problem last year, Tom came out and took care of it! Its been almost exactly 12 months and we havent seen any at all. A gopher took over my front yard about 3 months ago. I finally got around to calling Killroy. Tom came out, set the trap. Came back a week later to check up and set some more traps. Its been 2 weeks and there hasnt been another gopher hole. Zip code pricing to get rid of a rat, over $785 to set four traps and come back once. Quote to plug up potential entry areas was fair, but repair guy was 90 minutes late and showed up without the materials to do the job. He wanted to set another appointment for the repairs, but I insisted he go to the local hardware store to get what he needed. Two of the three visits were rescheduled by Killroy at the last minute, and the repair job that should have been completed by 10:30 am at the latest, became an all day affair. Killroy Pest Control is unprofessional, doesn't honor appointment times, and overcharges because they know clients aren't going to shop around when there is a rat in the house. read more

He was very professional, personable and helpful. While we did not have a termite issue that he could detect he did find a few issues (minor fungas damage, a water leak in my crawlspace). The most reasonable fumigation company I found. Sal and I just bought a house. So naturally, there was some work to be done. We knew we had termites and we knew we needed to tent. I'm a shopper. I bargain hunt for the best prices. Especially now that I've bought a little house in San Jose, and the bank says I can pay my mortgage, so I'd better figure out how! Anyway, after getting bids for 3 other companies, my folks suggested Killroy. They came in well under all the other bids, were flexible with scheduling, and clean. The tents were on and off in a timely manner, and they cleaned and swept up after themselves - a huge plus in my book! We're also having them spray every other month for spiders and other bugs because, well, no one wants to wake up with spiders in their face! read more

You wrote: "We suggested to Mr. K M that he start a maintenance program...". This was only suggested after they took the initial payment assuring they will help solve the problem. If they were so sure that this cannot be solved in 1 visit why did they offer a one time service to begin with. Rick Nunez their tech who visited further told me that that they will never leave their customers hanging and make sure the job is completed. Vague statements just meant to ensure that you can be sweet talked into hiring them. 2. You wrote: "We are sorry to hear that Mr. K M felt dissatisfied and are willing to work together to resolve the issue.". If by this you mean charge me again and pocket more money then sure you were happy doing that. 3. You wrote: "... there was "No Guarantee" with gophers and moles, before we started the service." Thanks for stating that. Long story short please do not ever use them for this infestation. And given their attitude with customers I would suggest stay away for other problems as well. Bugs love me and in particular spiders love to BITE me. So when we moved into our house in WG and the heat started to come down on us...the bugs started to move in with us too. We have hardwood floors which mean lots of little microscopic holes in the floor leading down to the dirt crawl space below where, you guessed it, creepy crawlies like to breed. I was pretty desperate when I called Killroy...having killed 2 spiders and a host of moths just in one weekend. I saw on their website they have an organic spray that is mostly made up of plant oils like peppermint, eucalyptus, etc. They were great on the phone, having the technician call to explain more about that type of service, and schedule a date. He came out a day later, let me leave a check on the back patio table so I wouldn't have to be home, and sprayed the trees, yard, roof, and under the house for all the creepy crawlies. Cost was a little steep but it was a one-time service, they offer great deals like $70 or $80 for 3-4x a year service whereas I paid $150 for a one time spray. I did see a spider in the house a few days later but since then (~3 weeks) we have been 99% bug free...except for june bugs, are those things IMMUNE??? The best thing about our technician, I want to say his name was Steve...was that he was very knowledgeable about plants and bugs and I appreciated that. He explained that our neighbor's tree that hangs over our house needs to be trimmed more or else spiders particularly love that brand of tree..and yes it hangs over our bedroom where I tend to find the spiders! He ID'd a bug that was crawling on him and I explained another one to have him ID that one too. As a gardener, bugs are part of the landscape, but I don't like them in the house, so he was cool with spraying mostly on the ground (and in the monstrous spider tree) and leaving my roses and plants mostly safe with their ladybugs and the like. Overall, solid experience, fast scheduling, a bit pricey but it was worth it, at least for now! Now if only I had the recipe for that organic plant oil spray because I'd be mixing up gallons of it in the garage to keep by my bed!! read more

I had killroy come out to inspect my home for rodent openings and to have it sealed. I also asked them to remove a wasp nest. They only managed to remove a portion of the wasp nest, and the wasp basically rebuilt the nest in a week or two. When I called to have the nest removed again, they gave some excuse that it wasn't paid for when in fact it was. It was part of the fees I paid. Not only that, they didn't seal the attic very well either, so rodents were still getting in and out. read more

6/4/2008 Update After I posted this review I was contacted by the company. They were pretty upset at the review and wanted to talk about it. I had a long conversation with the manager and explained my point of view. Today the manager and his inspector came out to the house and did another inspection. No sign of termites and no sign there was ever any subterranean termites. They want to make sure I'm happy and will inspect the house gratis at the 2.5 year point and if there is evidence of termites their warranty will cover the treatment. I'm pleased with their customer service and response and am adding another star to my prior review. _______________________________________ I called these guys based on a friend's recommendation. I did not want a free inspection as I did not trust the companies that inspected for free then sold you fumigation services. Killroy charged $150 for an inspection, they found some problems and I paid them about $1500 for tenting. Soon after the tent came off I found a soft spot in the wood near my bath, unsure if it was water damage or termite damage I called the same inspector and asked how they had missed it earlier. He came out and told me it was a different type of termite damage, not covered or fixed by the tenting and gave me an estimate for $2200.00 to treat for the new type of termite, the $2200 did not cover fixing the wood. I had the floor fixed on my own then called Terminex for an inspection. I might add that Terminex did a much more through inspection than Killroy and they found ZERO termite problems leaving me with the feeling that Killroy was just after my money. read more
