The first time I called Killroy was to take care of a large paper wasp nest I found in my side yard. The technician was courteous and professional, and gave me tips for how to control any future nests myself. Based on his tips, I was able to eliminate future nests in my backyard when they were still small. But I was still occasionally having wasps in my house, so I called them out a for a second visit. The technician figured out that they were entering my house through vents on the roof. He did an inspection and found some large nests in my vents. Not only did he eliminate the nests, but he installed screening over them to prevent them from returning. Since then, my home and yard have been wasp free. I was impressed that they gave recommendations that would avoid the need to have return service calls. read more

We had a horrible experience with Killroy Pest Control. Every visit had some kind of issue attached to it and this is not an easy company to work with. The first issue is that they sold us what we were told was unlimited visits for 60 days. Ricky scheduled 1-2 visits a week and on the 4th visit, Ricky announced he was done without any prior notice or any kind of 60 day plan. Killroy general manager said, 'of course it's four visits', though didn't explain how this was communicated to customers since it wasn't communicated verbally or in writing at any time. Ricky broke our very expensive extension ladder by putting weight on it without extending it. It took 20 minutes with a crow bar to get it back to working order and it still doesn't work like it did before. When we tried to talk to him about it, he got very defensive and started yelling 'I didn't even extend it', which we confirmed was what caused the problem. We asked him to bring his own ladder for safety reasons, which he did going forward. They originally quoted the service at $250 and then wouldn't honor that price. We paid the higher price. This is even though a different company did the inspection and exclusion work for them before hand. So, is $60+ per 4 minute visit really worth their service? Absolutely not. Would not recommend. ---- Oddly, the company posted a comment saying they tried to resolve this. I have not been contacted by them via phone or any other method and I have not received any attempted resolution so that post isn't actually true. read more

A friend (her review is below) recommended Sensitive Solutions to me to get help with the spider and ant problem on my property. I called, set-up an appointment and everything was great...except the expensive bill...$240! Still, I thought they did a good job and I liked how the spray was organic and harlmess to pets and people. The invoice I received only mentioned spider spray, so I called and left a message to make sure the property was sprayed for ants too. No call back and I called a second time with no call back. About a year later the spider problem returned and was so much worse. I called and left a message to schedule a spray, but no one called back. I called again about a week later and left another message, but this time I got a call back and someone said they'd spray the property within a day. The cost for the spray was about $240 again...yikes! During this time I referred Sensitive Solutions to my mom, she callled and.....no call back! She called twice with no return call. So now I use another company that uses organic spray. So, my first experience a couple years ago was great with Sensitive Solutions but my second was not so good. It seems like the customer service the past year just went down hill. read more

These folks are always great. Super helpful on the phone when I have questions, always available within a week, and have been willing to cancel a job on short notice when I had concerns about my child being home. At one point I also had questions about how exactly they'd solve the ant issue I was having, and Danny, the tech in Santa Clara, spent all the time I needed answering my questions, about how the chemicals worked, safety, etc. Also used them for termites (good price) - they subcontracted a fumigation but the job was done well with no issues. Subcontractor was actually great, willing to return when I was being neurotic about moving into a post fumigation house, and literally walked me room by room with the measuring equipment to prove there was no gas left. read more

Steve came to our home and sprayed one time. After approximately three weeks, we began seeing bugs again inside our home. My husband left at least three messages, called at least five times, and no response from Steve, with the exception of saying he was "under a house and would call back". Killroy does not stand by their guarantee and like others here, I guess they pick and choose who to call back. Terrible. read more

In the interest of full disclosure, the owners of Killroy have been friends for many years, so I thought of writing this sooner, but having read some of the other reviews, I thought I'd put Killroy to the test by having my customer call instead of me. This way, my review would be unbiased and only after they performed or did not perform. Killroy serviced my grandparents since the 70's?, maybe earlier, not sure, and I have referred many clients over my 32+ year in the real estate industry. I had a situation with a rental property recently where a tenant alleged mites from what was alleged to be a rodent problem under the house. in 24 hours, Killroy dispatched "Danny" who set glue traps to capture the mites or whatever was affecting our tenant, as well as his own personal traps under the house to see what was going on. Danny came back on two separate occasions, and even took the time to help us plug any holes or access points that rodents might have gained access to under the house. Our experience with Killroy and Danny was exemplary, with Danny demonstrating not just his expertise, but personal care in helping us resolve our situation. Having read some of the reviews, I was a bit concerned and frustrated with what prior reviewers had said, but I'm happy to report, that my experience is consistent with what I had expected and the treatment my family and customers have received over the years. Our scenario wasn't perfectly smooth or straightforward, but we all worked through it together and I'm happy to report we received more than our money's worth. I will continue to use and recommend Killroy to friends, family and customers. read more

I would really recommend not using this company. I had them come out because my dad was working in my attic and said he saw mice/rats. The guy that came out was very nice person but I don't think he knew anything really about pest control. He suggested I had "cats" living in my attic or maybe squirrels. He then said Killroy wasn't licensed to trap animals and that I should purchase a Havahart trap. I just kind of smiled at this and thought to myself "ok that was a waste of time, I took off work for this." What really put the icing on the cake was when I received the $75 dollar "inspection" fee. Great not only did they waste my time but they then proceeded on wasting my money. It turns out that I did actually have roof rats but I was able to get rid of them on my own. Thank god I didn't follow their advice and try trapping the imaginary cat or squirrels. read more

This post is from my husband... I've had my yard sprayed bi-monthly by Killroy since 1998 and I think they are the best. I went through 3 other companies before I finally found Killroy. Every technician I've had has been excellent. I currently have Kenneth and he is outstanding. If I forget to move the cat's water dish, he moves it so it wont be sprayed. He also takes care of my mother's home & also my brother's home. I hope they stick around as long as I have my house!! read more

Friendly, knowledgable, effective service. Recommended! We've used this company twice now for Black Widow Spider treatment in Livermore. Scheduling was easy, both times I got a call ahead and the tech then showed up on time. Both times we dealt with Tom Votta. He knows what he's doing, consulted us for questions we had, and performed the treatment thoroughly. The first treatment lasted 18 months. I have nothing to compare to, so I don't know how $175 stacks up, but hey, for a pressure cleaned house exterior, incl. garage, and no nasty spiders, that's value to me. A termite inspections was performed by a different technician. Their techs are specialized depending on the bugs. Yay, I'm a fan! We had a terrible ant problem this summer. I think that the heat and lack of moisture had driven them out of the ground. It seemed like every ant in Santa Clara County was in my bathroom. Talk about gross. I have small children, so I was worried about the toxicity of any treatments. The technician that came out talked me through my options, exposure levels, and reassured me as to how this might affect my children. The treatment worked splendidly...for a few weeks. But then the ants came back. I was disappointed, but when I called the Killroy office to let them know what happened, they had a technician there the next day to apply the treatment again - for no charge. This time it stuck, and we are happily ant free. I am very satisfied with the Killroy service, and would recommend to anyone. read more

I had some crazy bug bite drama going on here at my place last summer. These guys came out and inspected my apartment and were very informative about bugs. Ha ha... we chatted a bit about the different possibilities regarding my bug bite problem. The guy that came out was so informative he said its possible it could just be me...that I have some sort of blood issue going on because the bites that I had on my body he had never seen before. Did a lot of research before calling Killroy, to take care of our Argentine ant invasion. Liked they were local and close and 5 star review. Their dispatch answered the phone quickly, gave a competitive quote of $195 with 60 day warranty. Technician arrived on time on the appointment date, in a new looking service truck, answered my questions onsite about where to spray etc. He covered the entire perimeter from ground into the roof eaves, placed some bait stations and spot treated in the house. No upsell which was a nice change. Within two days the ants were gone! I had looked into getting my own professional level chemicals and doing it myself but for the cost it made sense to use the pros. I may have them spray quarterly. Recommended. read more

We had a mole attacking our lawn and needed help asap! I contacted several local pest companies and their solution was to contract with them for recurring pest control services. That's not what we interested in and simply wanted the mole issue resolved. Killroy was the perfect match and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Great customer service, communication and follow through. Our tech, Cody, was great at explaining why the mole was attracted to our lawn, things that we could do to prevent it the future and he treated the affected areas. We had a very bad skunk and raccoon problem, our dogs were getting sprayed weekly, and the raccoons scattered our garbage all over our back yard. We called Kilroy. They sent a technician, Tony, who came right away. He set the traps, and came back several times until our problem was solved. He was on time, courteous, and explained everything so we understood. I used the services of Killroy for the past 5 years, but yesterday I decided to look for someone else. I've always had a gopher problem as most homes in Saratoga do. Killroy always sent Ron out and he'd take care of the problem and give a three mo warranty. He retired end of 2013 after treating for gophers one last time. When the critters came back two mo later I called Killroy to honor the warranty and they said it's only a one month!! Not only that, their price went up to $325 from $185, a 76% increase in two months!!! On another occasion, I had a rat in the attic. They sent the guy out to diagnose the problem for $99 which he said would apply to the total treatment price. However, when I called them back a week later to come get the rat, he never showed up!! Yesterday, I had some ant problem in the driveway and around the house. They quoted me $185, but when the technician called he said it'd be $225 because my house is bigger than 1500 sqft ( most homes in Saratoga are bigger than that). Anyway, having been tired of their greedy and unprofessional behavior, I called someone else who did the job for $175. I'd say find someone else. These guys seem to be too greedy are unprofessional and like to take their customers for a ride. read more

I called Killroy and Rickey came out and over a few visits was able to eradicate the problem. This year, I noticed some perceived dry rot-termites under the eaves in our porch patio.
