Called them for a quote and got three different answers in the span of three minutes when asking some pretty basic questions on coverage and price. This doesn't bode well for the actual service. It was really frustrating and I will be going with a different company. read more

Bugs love me and in particular spiders love to BITE me. So when we moved into our house in WG and the heat started to come down on us...the bugs started to move in with us too. We have hardwood floors which mean lots of little microscopic holes in the floor leading down to the dirt crawl space below where, you guessed it, creepy crawlies like to breed. I was pretty desperate when I called Killroy...having killed 2 spiders and a host of moths just in one weekend. I saw on their website they have an organic spray that is mostly made up of plant oils like peppermint, eucalyptus, etc. They were great on the phone, having the technician call to explain more about that type of service, and schedule a date. He came out a day later, let me leave a check on the back patio table so I wouldn't have to be home, and sprayed the trees, yard, roof, and under the house for all the creepy crawlies. Cost was a little steep but it was a one-time service, they offer great deals like $70 or $80 for 3-4x a year service whereas I paid $150 for a one time spray. I did see a spider in the house a few days later but since then (~3 weeks) we have been 99% bug free...except for june bugs, are those things IMMUNE??? The best thing about our technician, I want to say his name was Steve...was that he was very knowledgeable about plants and bugs and I appreciated that. He explained that our neighbor's tree that hangs over our house needs to be trimmed more or else spiders particularly love that brand of tree..and yes it hangs over our bedroom where I tend to find the spiders! He ID'd a bug that was crawling on him and I explained another one to have him ID that one too. As a gardener, bugs are part of the landscape, but I don't like them in the house, so he was cool with spraying mostly on the ground (and in the monstrous spider tree) and leaving my roses and plants mostly safe with their ladybugs and the like. Overall, solid experience, fast scheduling, a bit pricey but it was worth it, at least for now! Now if only I had the recipe for that organic plant oil spray because I'd be mixing up gallons of it in the garage to keep by my bed!! read more

I live in Gilroy and have been using Kilroy off and on since we bought our house in 2004. We started with tech Steve who was horrible with his follow ups and customer service. Would only come around when I make a call for service. He transferred to another area and than Michael was assigned to our area, thank you very much. Michael was proactive with his service and great with his customer. Now gone from the company. We stopped using Kilroy for a bite knowing we were going to get stuck with Steve again. Spoke to management about my previous service with him to give Steve another shot, for what nothing has changed, not proactive only reactive when I make a call and usually around payment time. As a customer Steve has been horrible rep for Kilroy. He is lucky a star is required to post a comment. read more

6/4/2008 Update After I posted this review I was contacted by the company. They were pretty upset at the review and wanted to talk about it. I had a long conversation with the manager and explained my point of view. Today the manager and his inspector came out to the house and did another inspection. No sign of termites and no sign there was ever any subterranean termites. They want to make sure I'm happy and will inspect the house gratis at the 2.5 year point and if there is evidence of termites their warranty will cover the treatment. I'm pleased with their customer service and response and am adding another star to my prior review. _______________________________________ I called these guys based on a friend's recommendation. I did not want a free inspection as I did not trust the companies that inspected for free then sold you fumigation services. Killroy charged $150 for an inspection, they found some problems and I paid them about $1500 for tenting. Soon after the tent came off I found a soft spot in the wood near my bath, unsure if it was water damage or termite damage I called the same inspector and asked how they had missed it earlier. He came out and told me it was a different type of termite damage, not covered or fixed by the tenting and gave me an estimate for $2200.00 to treat for the new type of termite, the $2200 did not cover fixing the wood. I had the floor fixed on my own then called Terminex for an inspection. I might add that Terminex did a much more through inspection than Killroy and they found ZERO termite problems leaving me with the feeling that Killroy was just after my money. read more

The first time I called Killroy was to take care of a large paper wasp nest I found in my side yard. The technician was courteous and professional, and gave me tips for how to control any future nests myself. Based on his tips, I was able to eliminate future nests in my backyard when they were still small. But I was still occasionally having wasps in my house, so I called them out a for a second visit. The technician figured out that they were entering my house through vents on the roof. He did an inspection and found some large nests in my vents. Not only did he eliminate the nests, but he installed screening over them to prevent them from returning. Since then, my home and yard have been wasp free. I was impressed that they gave recommendations that would avoid the need to have return service calls. read more

We had a horrible experience with Killroy Pest Control. Every visit had some kind of issue attached to it and this is not an easy company to work with. The first issue is that they sold us what we were told was unlimited visits for 60 days. Ricky scheduled 1-2 visits a week and on the 4th visit, Ricky announced he was done without any prior notice or any kind of 60 day plan. Killroy general manager said, 'of course it's four visits', though didn't explain how this was communicated to customers since it wasn't communicated verbally or in writing at any time. Ricky broke our very expensive extension ladder by putting weight on it without extending it. It took 20 minutes with a crow bar to get it back to working order and it still doesn't work like it did before. When we tried to talk to him about it, he got very defensive and started yelling 'I didn't even extend it', which we confirmed was what caused the problem. We asked him to bring his own ladder for safety reasons, which he did going forward. They originally quoted the service at $250 and then wouldn't honor that price. We paid the higher price. This is even though a different company did the inspection and exclusion work for them before hand. So, is $60+ per 4 minute visit really worth their service? Absolutely not. Would not recommend. ---- Oddly, the company posted a comment saying they tried to resolve this. I have not been contacted by them via phone or any other method and I have not received any attempted resolution so that post isn't actually true. read more

Have had Killroy's quarterly services for couple of years - one for a residential home and the other for a 4-plex. I started the services to prevent problems and have someone on hand when a problem arises. So far I've determined it's not worth it. Apparently the only thing covered is ants although their website would suggest the opposite. Moles - extra, Bees - extra, roaches - extra, mice - extra ! And it's not like $20 extra, more like $65 to $300 each visit in addition to the quarterly payments. Not that the other guys don't do the same but thought this company would be better. Might as well just call when I need them. Will be cancelling both services next. Gave them 3 stars because they responded quickly, very friendly and billing was easy. read more

We had an ant problem last year, Tom came out and took care of it! Its been almost exactly 12 months and we havent seen any at all. A gopher took over my front yard about 3 months ago. I finally got around to calling Killroy. Tom came out, set the trap. Came back a week later to check up and set some more traps. Its been 2 weeks and there hasnt been another gopher hole. Extremely friendly and attentive, highly recommend!! Thanks Tom! read more

A friend (her review is below) recommended Sensitive Solutions to me to get help with the spider and ant problem on my property. I called, set-up an appointment and everything was great...except the expensive bill...$240! Still, I thought they did a good job and I liked how the spray was organic and harlmess to pets and people. The invoice I received only mentioned spider spray, so I called and left a message to make sure the property was sprayed for ants too. No call back and I called a second time with no call back. About a year later the spider problem returned and was so much worse. I called and left a message to schedule a spray, but no one called back. I called again about a week later and left another message, but this time I got a call back and someone said they'd spray the property within a day. The cost for the spray was about $240 again...yikes! During this time I referred Sensitive Solutions to my mom, she callled and.....no call back! She called twice with no return call. So now I use another company that uses organic spray. So, my first experience a couple years ago was great with Sensitive Solutions but my second was not so good. It seems like the customer service the past year just went down hill. read more

We contacted Kilroy, they've come out three times so far and each time there's yet another way the rat(s) get in. They put up barriers and patch access then charge us then have to return when those don't work, and they find 'new' ones and patch/charge us again. All the while, we continue to have the problem. I need this fixed but I won't trust them again to come out only to pay another $85 for a visit that does nothing but result in calling again. When does it end? read more

In the interest of full disclosure, the owners of Killroy have been friends for many years, so I thought of writing this sooner, but having read some of the other reviews, I thought I'd put Killroy to the test by having my customer call instead of me. This way, my review would be unbiased and only after they performed or did not perform. Killroy serviced my grandparents since the 70's?, maybe earlier, not sure, and I have referred many clients over my 32+ year in the real estate industry. I had a situation with a rental property recently where a tenant alleged mites from what was alleged to be a rodent problem under the house. in 24 hours, Killroy dispatched "Danny" who set glue traps to capture the mites or whatever was affecting our tenant, as well as his own personal traps under the house to see what was going on. Danny came back on two separate occasions, and even took the time to help us plug any holes or access points that rodents might have gained access to under the house. Our experience with Killroy and Danny was exemplary, with Danny demonstrating not just his expertise, but personal care in helping us resolve our situation. Having read some of the reviews, I was a bit concerned and frustrated with what prior reviewers had said, but I'm happy to report, that my experience is consistent with what I had expected and the treatment my family and customers have received over the years. Our scenario wasn't perfectly smooth or straightforward, but we all worked through it together and I'm happy to report we received more than our money's worth. I will continue to use and recommend Killroy to friends, family and customers. read more

I would really recommend not using this company. I had them come out because my dad was working in my attic and said he saw mice/rats. The guy that came out was very nice person but I don't think he knew anything really about pest control. He suggested I had "cats" living in my attic or maybe squirrels. He then said Killroy wasn't licensed to trap animals and that I should purchase a Havahart trap. I just kind of smiled at this and thought to myself "ok that was a waste of time, I took off work for this." What really put the icing on the cake was when I received the $75 dollar "inspection" fee. Great not only did they waste my time but they then proceeded on wasting my money. It turns out that I did actually have roof rats but I was able to get rid of them on my own. Thank god I didn't follow their advice and try trapping the imaginary cat or squirrels. read more

The most reasonable fumigation company I found. Sal and I just bought a house. So naturally, there was some work to be done. We knew we had termites and we knew we needed to tent. I'm a shopper. I bargain hunt for the best prices. Especially now that I've bought a little house in San Jose, and the bank says I can pay my mortgage, so I'd better figure out how! Anyway, after getting bids for 3 other companies, my folks suggested Killroy. They came in well under all the other bids, were flexible with scheduling, and clean. The tents were on and off in a timely manner, and they cleaned and swept up after themselves - a huge plus in my book! We're also having them spray every other month for spiders and other bugs because, well, no one wants to wake up with spiders in their face! read more

Zip code pricing to get rid of a rat, over $785 to set four traps and come back once. Quote to plug up potential entry areas was fair, but repair guy was 90 minutes late and showed up without the materials to do the job. He wanted to set another appointment for the repairs, but I insisted he go to the local hardware store to get what he needed. Two of the three visits were rescheduled by Killroy at the last minute, and the repair job that should have been completed by 10:30 am at the latest, became an all day affair. Killroy Pest Control is unprofessional, doesn't honor appointment times, and overcharges because they know clients aren't going to shop around when there is a rat in the house. read more

This post is from my husband... I've had my yard sprayed bi-monthly by Killroy since 1998 and I think they are the best. I went through 3 other companies before I finally found Killroy. Every technician I've had has been excellent. I currently have Kenneth and he is outstanding. If I forget to move the cat's water dish, he moves it so it wont be sprayed. He also takes care of my mother's home & also my brother's home. I hope they stick around as long as I have my house!! read more

Friendly, knowledgable, effective service. Recommended! We've used this company twice now for Black Widow Spider treatment in Livermore. Scheduling was easy, both times I got a call ahead and the tech then showed up on time. Both times we dealt with Tom Votta. He knows what he's doing, consulted us for questions we had, and performed the treatment thoroughly. The first treatment lasted 18 months. I have nothing to compare to, so I don't know how $175 stacks up, but hey, for a pressure cleaned house exterior, incl. garage, and no nasty spiders, that's value to me. A termite inspections was performed by a different technician. Their techs are specialized depending on the bugs. Yay, I'm a fan! Currently there's a $30 off coupon for first time customers on their website and on Angie's list. read more

I use Killroy for my pest control service and I am very pleased with Killroy and my technician Donald. I also just had a full termite inspection done by Killroy. The inspector was Dale. He was very professional, personable and helpful. While we did not have a termite issue that he could detect he did find a few issues (minor fungas damage, a water leak in my crawlspace). When he explained the issues to us he was not an alarmist! He completed a report that detailed the issues and suggested resolutions. I was very pleased with the service and Dale. read more

We had a terrible ant problem this summer. I think that the heat and lack of moisture had driven them out of the ground. It seemed like every ant in Santa Clara County was in my bathroom. Talk about gross. I have small children, so I was worried about the toxicity of any treatments. The technician that came out talked me through my options, exposure levels, and reassured me as to how this might affect my children. The treatment worked splendidly...for a few weeks. But then the ants came back. I was disappointed, but when I called the Killroy office to let them know what happened, they had a technician there the next day to apply the treatment again - for no charge. This time it stuck, and we are happily ant free. I am very satisfied with the Killroy service, and would recommend to anyone. read more

Thank you Lynn O. for your reply to my review which helps highlight the sub-standard business you are running and lies you are perpetrating. 1. You wrote: "We suggested to Mr. K M that he start a maintenance program...". This was only suggested after they took the initial payment assuring they will help solve the problem. If they were so sure that this cannot be solved in 1 visit why did they offer a one time service to begin with. Rick Nunez their tech who visited further told me that that they will never leave their customers hanging and make sure the job is completed. Vague statements just meant to ensure that you can be sweet talked into hiring them. 2. You wrote: "We are sorry to hear that Mr. K M felt dissatisfied and are willing to work together to resolve the issue.". If by this you mean charge me again and pocket more money then sure you were happy doing that. 3. You wrote: "... there was "No Guarantee" with gophers and moles, before we started the service." Thanks for stating that. Long story short please do not ever use them for this infestation. And given their attitude with customers I would suggest stay away for other problems as well. There are many other Pest Control businesses in bay area. read more

I had killroy come out to inspect my home for rodent openings and to have it sealed. I also asked them to remove a wasp nest. They only managed to remove a portion of the wasp nest, and the wasp basically rebuilt the nest in a week or two. When I called to have the nest removed again, they gave some excuse that it wasn't paid for when in fact it was. It was part of the fees I paid. Not only that, they didn't seal the attic very well either, so rodents were still getting in and out. read more

Steve came to our home and sprayed one time. After approximately three weeks, we began seeing bugs again inside our home. My husband left at least three messages, called at least five times, and no response from Steve, with the exception of saying he was "under a house and would call back". Killroy does not stand by their guarantee and like others here, I guess they pick and choose who to call back. Terrible. read more

We had a very bad skunk and raccoon problem, our dogs were getting sprayed weekly, and the raccoons scattered our garbage all over our back yard. We called Kilroy. They sent a technician, Tony, who came right away. He set the traps, and came back several times until our problem was solved. He was on time, courteous, and explained everything so we understood. The pricing was very fair, and now our dogs no longer get sprayed by skunks, and our trash does not get raided by the raccoons. I highly recommend their services. Great service, great price. Overall great experience. read more

I had some crazy bug bite drama going on here at my place last summer. These guys came out and inspected my apartment and were very informative about bugs. Ha ha... we chatted a bit about the different possibilities regarding my bug bite problem. I liked how thoughtful he was in giving me tips and ideas to find a solution. They came out for a free estimate and I really apprecaited their help. read more

I used the services of Killroy for the past 5 years, but yesterday I decided to look for someone else. I've always had a gopher problem as most homes in Saratoga do. Killroy always sent Ron out and he'd take care of the problem and give a three mo warranty. He retired end of 2013 after treating for gophers one last time. When the critters came back two mo later I called Killroy to honor the warranty and they said it's only a one month!! Not only that, their price went up to $325 from $185, a 76% increase in two months!!! On another occasion, I had a rat in the attic. They sent the guy out to diagnose the problem for $99 which he said would apply to the total treatment price. However, when I called them back a week later to come get the rat, he never showed up!! Yesterday, I had some ant problem in the driveway and around the house. They quoted me $185, but when the technician called he said it'd be $225 because my house is bigger than 1500 sqft ( most homes in Saratoga are bigger than that). Anyway, having been tired of their greedy and unprofessional behavior, I called someone else who did the job for $175. I'd say find someone else. These guys seem to be too greedy are unprofessional and like to take their customers for a ride. read more

Rick, Ricky, Spiderman, whatever you want to call him, he's there. Rick loves what he does. He's been with Killroy for a long time and is extremely knowledgeable. A few years ago, we had a bee problem. He took care of it and as he was going around the house, he explained the bee process to me. This time around, we had a rat problem. I say HAD because now we are rat free. Same thing though. He took the time to explain everything to me and even pointed out where the rats were probably entering the house. Rick's professional but still fun. He has a spider hanging in his truck as a copilot. He's punctual, calls before he arrives and gives me a 1-2 hour window. Rick's also not sales-y or trying to scare me into extra products. In a world where everyone is trying to push their service, he's honest and trustworthy. read more
