The new owner of Kick It Boutique, Lauren Storbeck is a rockstar! I stopped by the store not intending to buy anything. I am tall and very hard to fit. For the last 10 years I have for the most part only worn dresses because it's very challenging for me to find pants. Lauren took one look at me and knew exactly what size I was and brought me a few different pairs of pants to try on. I was floored when she brought me this beautiful pair of wide leg pants that I never would've even thought to try on myself. They are my husbands favorite pants on me. Lauren takes pride in everything that she does. Her customer service is by far the best I have ever experienced. She cares about each customer and wants to make sure they are happy with their purchases. She is not pushy either which I appreciate. I was walking down Market and noticed a new boutique on the block. (After talking to the staff I discovered that this is a new location but the boutique has been in Ballard for quite some time). I walked in at 5:45pm, not realizing that they were closing at 6pm that day and the staff was incredibly welcoming despite the time. They insisted that I stay and continue browsing for as long as I needed. I ended up finding two great tops, for an incredible price. It was an overall great first impression. The only thing bad I can say about this shop is how sad my closet is that I didn't find it sooner. They just moved up 3 blocks to a much higher traffic area, and it's the only reason I stopped in. The buyer (guessing owner) chooses a smart selection of pieces that are from small designers. The fabrics are flattering, SOFT, and priced way too reasonably for this shop to be called a 'boutique.' I love boutiques partly because I like cute, curated clothes that I might not find everywhere else, and partly because of the service. I love having people who know clothes help me pick out clothes. I know what I like, but I also know that there's stuff I may not have thought I'd like that I like after I try it on. When I walked into Kick It, I found a couple of dresses I was kind of ehhh about, but then the lady working helped me find some jean shorts that I absolutely fell in love with and a dolman top that I never would have even considered but when I tried it on it absolutely worked! Awesome boutique with wide variety and style at an accessible price point. Styles rotate every 3-4 weeks. I walked out with a dressy trench, new yoga outfit and dressy tops. So nice to shop at an actual boutique without paying an arm and a leg for something. 4 stars for parking, or lack thereof, but, hey, it's Ballard and it's getting harder and harder to find anyway. I randomly stopped by this boutique today while my fiancé was at the record store across the street. We recently moved to Renton and this was our first time in the Ballard area. I was immediately greeted by Angela and she sincerely complimented my outfit. I was the only guest in the store at the time and wasn't necessarily planning on shopping, but more just killing time. I found a few pieces that caught my eye and Angela kindly offered me a fitting room. While in the fitting room, another guest entered and immediately began arguing with Angela about an item she wished to return. From what i got from the situation this guest was a long time customer, but also a frequent returner. The customer continued to be extremely rude and passive aggressive while Angela professionally stood her ground. Angela ended up accommodating the guest as any decent and kind owner as herself would have. As a fellow retail manager, i truly appreciated and respected her defending her small business.
