Heed the warning and go for take out only!!! I have to admit that this is the strangest review I've ever written. My friend's just bought a house in this area, and so we thought we'd try this cute restaurant. With the exception of the focaccia, which were akin to pieces of ice cold, crumbling bricks, the food was actually well-above average. But the service was colder than the bread! Our server, an older, white-haired woman, was the rudest waitress ever!!! The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, so I'm not sure, but it seemed as though we were interrupting her coffee break. She seemed annoyed at my friend's inability to properly pronounce the complex Italian dishes name, snatched our menus away, delivered our entrees only half way through eating our salads (again, on an empty Monday night), failed to ever deliver the second round of drinks, and the list just goes on... And when I nicely asked her to split the check, she returned with one check. Argh! I again asked her to split the check, and she RUDELY insisted that I had NEVER asked the first time! What ever even happened to "the customer is always right"? Anyway, maybe this was ageism... we were on the younger side for this restaurant. And by this, I mean early 40's. Lol! Or maybe you have to be "regular's" that have taken a beating from this woman a few times, but, regardless, I'm not willing to go back for any more of her whacks! For those prices, there are places in Carson that are just as good with very lovely service! read more

This by far is one of the best Italian Restaurants I have ever eaten at. The food is 5 star and the service is 5 star. The food has so much flavor and depth. My husband and I tried Khristopher's in Minden for the first time this past weekend and it was a great experience. They had just opened up, so we were about the first ones there. We were seated right away and the staff is very friendly and prompt. We ordered the garlic bread appetizer, and that was very delicious. I ordered an Italian margarita, it was on the strong side, but that's how it should be made in first place, very good. My husband ordered shrimp fettuccine and I ordered the salmon with pesto sauce with potatoes and asparagus. I also ordered their pepperoni pizza, very tasty and it was a personal size, perfect for sharing. For dessert we shared spumoni and I ordered a coffee, which was nice for dunking the almond biscottis that came with the spumoni. The staff here are so polite and treat you like a valued patron. The prices may be a bit high to some, but the quality of food and service you get here is well worth it. We will definitely come back here next time we are in town, there are many more dishes we want to try. read more

What can I say about Khristopher's Ristorante and Bar? First, why the K and the H? I understand just the K, but usually K doesn't come with H. Anyways. The food, as my 8 year old nephew would say is yumalicious. A good combination of yummy and delicious. It's true. The service, however, my nephew might use the phrase fartalicious. As in terrible. I'm going to give a 4 star with hopes of receiving a better performance. I totally understand that this place has recently opened in its new location. We were sat promptly, table of three. No drink menu was available. We asked the waitress for the menu, replied there wasn't one available. Bummer. Poor girl had to recite the menu, of sorts. All drinks received, no problem. Food order, with appetizers, were received by our waitress. Then we waited, we're patience folks, so it's cool. We enjoyed our drinks and observed our surroundings. Lots of work put into a long term vacant building. Place filled up, wait staff training new staff, we've been there back in the day. We're cool. Appetizers showed up in a timely manner. Entrees showed after a good amount of time. And the food tasted great! Good job to the chef! Owner made an appearance, but not to anyone except to the table across from us. She was quite friendly with the table across from us, unfortunately never bothered with any of the other customers. As business owners, my husband and I, you acknowledge your customers, all around. And you also dress for the occasion. You show respect and appreciation for your customers. We purposely didn't eat all our meal, that's was a hard to accomplish! But we wanted to order dessert! We received a complimentary box-up service. And then our waitress handed the check right away, without offer of precious lovely Italian dessert. Bummer. We happily pay whatever price for lovely food and service, and we take care of the wonderful staff with positive nonjudgmental attitudes and hefty tips. We understand this is a hard business to be in and we support as much as we can. My criticism, I hope, is taken as a learning tool from a customer's perspective. It would be really nice if you update your hours. Yelp says you're open from 9am till 8:30pm so does your website. Apparently that's not correct as we showed up for lunch and were told you're not open till 4pm. Was SO excited to get an Italian restaurant in town, but mark my words......this place ain't gunna last if it stays this way. Worst food presentation I've ever seen. Those black striped plates are a bit tacky. Pasta should be served in large white bowl. Also: Food served lukewarm. No flavor. Slopped on the plate. Dinner bread is dry (Usually I LOVE bread with pasta, but I can't eat this one). Servers have some excuse as to prep you of this before hand. One of our meals was deliberately brought out to us wrong instead of coming to us before hand to ask for a suitable substitution. Bussers need proper training in customer service. Here's why I worry this place won't last (and I really want it to). We went for Valentine's Day. It JUST opened here in Minden so we gave them some room for slight errors and delays. But NOBODY other than the server checked on our experience. Coming from the food and hospitality business, if the manager/owner is not checking on every table NOW then they'll always be in the dark of what's going on at the restaurant. That day was THEE day for the owners to gather info from their guests. Not so we can bitch at them or try for a discount, but for us to give them some useful feedback and hopefully help keep them open. Will try one more time soon. Fair, updated review to follow. Hubby and I went tonight for dessert and a cocktail. Sat upstairs in comfy chairs by fireplace. We were greeted immediately and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I had a Lemon Drop martini which was very good. We also ordered the bread pudding dessert, which is made on site. I thoroughly enjoyed its decadence without it being too sweet. I asked for the chocolate sauce on the side as I wanted to taste the bread pudding by itself. I was totally satisfied. We will be back! read more

Had lunch today with a friend. The location brought back great memories of Minden Food Co. I am so happy the doors to this comfortable space are open again! Sara and her assistant took great care of us and the food was terrific! I had the Pane Formaggio- Homemade bread slices, topped with garlic and toasted parmesan and mozzarella cheese served piping hot with cheese dripping deliciously in abundance, Yum! I would go again just for this cheesy, decadent indulgence...I teamed the bread with the Noce Insalata di Pollo alla Griglia - Fresh romaine with crispy bacon, roma tomatoes, grilled chicken, roasted peppers and feta cheese, tossed in a walnut vinaigrette dressing. It was cold, crisp, and delicious. I requested more dressing and Sara brought it to me pronto. It is always better to have to ask for more dressing than have your salad swimming in dressing, right? My GF had the Amore Mio pizza - Shrimp, fresh rosemary, asparagus, and sun-dried tomatoes over garlic sauce, topped with parmesan cheese. It was yummy and she was pleased. Our water and iced teas were filled consistantly which, to me is great service and attention from the wait staff. I will definitely be back with my husband, as I know he will love it! We arrived without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. What a treat! I had the Lobster Raviolis and my wife had the Chicken Marsala. Dinner was perfect! Wine selections were matched to the meal and extremely reasonably priced. Spumante and Tiramisu desserts finished off the evening. We have been going to Kristophers for years at the old location and always enjoyed the food. We have eaten two times at the new location once for lunch and then for dinner last night. The service was fair but waited for our food a little longer than nessisary. I had the ravioli and she had a stuffed chicken breast. They were both good but seriously for $18.00 I got 3 ravioli. We also only got two bread sticks. I know the building sat vacant for years because the lease was very expensive but you still have to give customers a fair value. read more

I have tried Kristophers a number of times with lack luster results. A group of 6 of us that are very close friends and big drinkers and eaters decided to give them a try again. We had Alison as our server and she was wonderful. Our dinners were fabulous. We had T-bone, rib eye, chicken Alfredo, spinach ravioli and filet. Everything was prepared perfectly. This was one of the best meals I've had in ages. The service was excellent and even though they were out of baked potatoes, Alison handled it very professionally and was a sweetheart. I will now start frequenting Kristophers much more often. I recommend giving Kristophers a try if you haven't already. And if you have, try it again. I waited for awhile to go here after it opened up in Minden. Then I was there twice last week. Once for dinner and I had the flaked ahi salad. It is prepared like a tuna salad, and it was tasty. I went back for brunch on Sunday, and had the sun dried tomato, mushroom, feta egg scramble with home fries. Everything came out hot and was cooked perfectly. It was very delicious and filling. My server both times was Christian and he was fantastic and made the experience all the nicer. The atmosphere is pleasing and was was a nice change of pace for me. I will be back. read more

I'm visiting from out of town and I just ate here with some friends and thought the food was very good (I ordered a salmon dish for dinner, with vegetables and potatoes), and the server was polite and helpful. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, as was the restroom. I also liked the plants strategically placed in the restaurant; I thought they gave it a more inviting atmosphere as well as keeping the air fresh. The place was well lit and well furnished. The one drawback appears to be location: the restaurant is located in a newer appearing strip mall / shopping center near a main road, but as of this writing, most of the other shopping center store locations are unoccupied and for lease, thus they don't seem to be getting the number of customers that they deserve given the quality of the food, service, and cleanliness and classiness of the dining room. However, I only was able to visit on a Monday night. Perhaps, had I come earlier, or on a weekend, the customer turnout might be different and higher. I think if the locals like this restaurant they should either patronize them at the current location, or else possibly give them another location where they can relocate that already has more foot traffic. I will certainly be eating here again the next time I'm in town. It's nice to try out an unfamiliar place and have it turn out to be a good one! read more

Using any Italian terminology (i.e., "Ristorante") here is a serious stretch. Very little Italian about this restaurant. No wine list and, in the ultimate Americanized capitulation, no espresso machine. We started our meal with the Bruschetta appetizer. Bizarre to say the least; I've never had this (anywhere in the world) on a soft piece of bread with a few char marks, and a sautéed mixture of tomatoes, onions and whatnot. Bruschetta, at least in an Italian context, is fresh tomatoes and herbs, UNCOOKED, on a crunchy piece of bread. Entrees were acceptable; my wife had the Pollo Marsala and she enjoyed it. It was a bit odd served with diced red potatoes, but with a gorgonzola topping it kind of worked. I had the radiatore with marinara and spicy sausage, okay but utterly uninspired. Note to proprietor and other across the U.S: Marinara in Italian means "from the sea" ("MAR means the Sea). This location is rather new relocation, and it looked like they were still equipping the bar and restaurant on the fly. Saw employees bringing in what appeared to be grocery store carriers of low end wine....... My wife noticed that our glasses of wine (Canyon Road, from the grocery store bargain bin) were significantly underpoured compared to what other patrons were receiving. My wife ordered a bread pudding dessert to go - $8.95 plus a $1.00 to go fee, something I've never encountered (bizarre, seems like their cost and effort would be less for a takeout item, not having to serve and wash dishes). Basically $10 for what turned out to be blah... Desert list has all kinds of American stuff - cupcakes, cheesecake, etc., but not much Italian. Wait staff was friendly, but seemed inadequately versed in any Italian terminology, pronunciation and knowledge of the menu. In summary, place is fine if what you are looking for is fully Americanized Italian. read more

The family and I really enjoyed our lunch. We have two toddlers so going somewhere new is always a toss up. Both kids loved their food which came quickly and perfectly sized. We came in for a late Mother's Day dinner. We had high expectations from all we'd heard, and the experience was a disappointment. The wine list was great, and we were able to order a bottle of one of my mom's favorite wines. The service was friendly but slow to get our drinks. Once we received the food, half of it was cold as it was sitting on a tray waiting for everything else. The hot food was ok, somewhat bland for my liking but my mom enjoyed hers, which is what really mattered. Overall, I don't think I'd go back. I expect everyone's food to be hot when it's a relatively small group. Hopefully, it was an off night, and they'll get things figured out, it would be nice to have another good Italian place in the Carson Valley. read more

When I went into the restaurant on this past Saturday afternoon, I walked in waiting to order something to go. The bar tender just ignored me. The nice waitress asked if I'd been helped and told the bartender she had a customer, she looked over and said, I'm busy very rudely. So the poor waitress that was busy herself helped me order. Well I got my order and for what I got and what I paid, there's no way I will be back. I sure didn't feel welcomed and prices were to high for what you get. I like this restaurant because the service is really outstanding. I credit the manager who clearly knows the restaurant business and that makes the difference. Nicky, or Nicole... She has them highly motivated and she definitely has a vision of what good service consist of...it has the personal touch. She was really warm to my group and took the time to introduce herself and was following up every time she walked by; We all liked her energy allot! This place is hit or miss, it can be somewhat OK or bad. A consistent 'bad' is the older server who is quite overbearing, tends to fiddle with things on the table every time she comes by and is very condescending. If you get one of the other servers, it is always better. As for the food, they give you focaccia bread to start. It is always very dry and likely 1+ days old, which it really needs to be made in small batches throughout the day to be fresh. The pastas, etc are OK, with large variation from visit to visit. The place could be better but really needs to fix the service/attitude and step up the quality of the food being served. read more

We had the most amazing dinner and two amazing cocktails. Our waitress Chelsea was so sweet. My husband had the veal Parmesan which was delicious and I had the salmon Tuscan. Both meals are cooked to perfection, we sat at the bar and ate our dinners and we have the most wonderful time. There was a gentleman playing music that really Enhance our evening.
