    Tom kha, spice level medium

Khan Toke is a takeout Thai restaurant located in south Denver. They don't have a typical brick and mortar restaurant, rather they work out of a test kitchen it seems. Order the food online and pick up from a counter, no tables or chairs to use. There are other restaurants working out of this building that you could order from online too. Regarding the food, I thought it was overall good. The tom kha had good flavor and is the perfect dish for a chilly day. There was a good amount of protein and the portion size fair. I was less a fan of the basil fried rice, perhaps just personal preference. Also had an okay portion size and good amount of protein but I thought the flavor profile was a bit lacking. All in all paid about $25 for two dishes. I would return here to get the tom kha and try other dishes. Would be nice to be able to meet the chefs behind this restaurant some day!

We finally have a go-to Thai place for takeout/delivery! We tried Khan Toke last week, and were so impressed that we ordered from them again this week. So far, we've tried the green, red, panang, and pineapple curries. The red curry is definitely our favorite, but we'd happily order the rest again. We also had the veggie spring rolls, which were good and arrived perfectly crispy. Do not sleep on dessert! Their mango sticky rice is great, but the sweet pandan sticky rice is phenomenal.

A really great option for Thai take out or delivery. Their crab wantons were so crispy and well-cooked. They had a little too much pepper for my taste (thinking about pepper is too much for me) but my husband said they were some of the best he's had. The pineapple rice with chicken was fabulous. Everything was cooked perfectly and there were plenty large chunks of pineapple and chicken aplenty. I would have preferred a few more pieces because I like pineapple, but it was enough for the meal. The cashews add a good crunch to the meal but are little softened, a nice texture; the raisins add more sweetness to the meal. Definitely a sweeter meal option. I ordered mine not spicy as other reviews mentioned the mild being a little spicy, and it truly was not spicy at all. My husband had the drunken noodle and he ordered it Thai Hot. It's the first place where he's never had to add extra hot sauce to his meal. Diner beware! The portions are big - prepare for leftovers!! The pickup was a little confusing for a first timer like myself. They are located in the ChefReady gated parking lot. This ghost kitchen pickup spot holds to-go meals for about 10 restaurants, so have your order number on your email or text message ready to show the person behind the counter. I would definitely order from them again and I'm looking forward to trying other options from their menu.

I had been looking forward to trying Khan Toke after seeing the positive reviews from other Denver Thai food skeptics; (this town certainly needs a good and authentic option), so I wanted to check out for myself whether this ghost kitchen operation fit the bill, at least for takeout. For starters, the menu is great. I love that they have standard options as well as more specialty items available. I also love that they don't charge an arm and a leg for basic dishes (I've seen so many places that charge over $20 for pad thai or a typical curry these days). They allow ordering on their website, as well as through other delivery platforms. I wanted to wait for two experiences prior to reviewing; both times I ordered through the website and got their courier delivery service. This does eliminate some ability to track the order as effectively as Grubhub for example. Both times the food was a bit lukewarm upon arrival. I'm not clear on whether things would be faster/warmer with another service, but I do think this impacted my enjoyment of things truthfully. Here's what I have tried so far: -Dumplings: Good, (more of a golden purse style dumpling); -Spring rolls: Very tasty; -Chicken Satay: Nice, but peanut sauce texture was pretty uneven, and cucumber relish was 95% vinegar; -Somtum Thai: Excellent (a little small for the price); -Green Curry: Good (got medium spice and it was hotter than expected); -Pad Kaprow: Good...a lot of extra liquid in the container; -Kee Mao: Tasty, reliable option; -Kua Gai: Excellent, loved that this was available & found it really enjoyable; -Choo Chee Catfish: Excellent; did not seem 'deep fried' as referenced, but not sure how much of that was a bad travel situation; (look forward to having it higher on spice scale); -Basil Fried Rice: Just okay; I would skip this, no noticeable basil, very little vegetables, boring; -Khan Toke's Crispy Chicken: Nice and spicy, did not travel well given delivery situation mentioned (sort of tough and not crispy). On the whole, I would still heartily recommend this place and say give it a try. I personally will try and improve the experience next time, probably via pickup.

Smallest crab wontons and portions. Way too expensive for the small amount we were given. Have eaten here before and portions were normal. Flavor is good but they raised the prices a little and cut portion size in half. Crab wontons don't have hardly anything in them. Sadly, won't order from here again.

Got takeout from here and was very pleasantly surprised! Thai food is always hit or miss for me, but I think I found a new local spot I will continue to order from! We got the chicken panang curry (hot), chicken pineapple curry (hot) and chicken pad thai (mild). The curry's were both good, and quite hot, especially the pineapple one. Green beans in the panang curry was a little odd, but not a big deal. The pad thai was also really good, but spicy for it being mild, would definitely have considered it medium!

Is it really 5 stars for the food? No, but I love what they are doing, and we need more businesses like this one operating out of a ghost kitchen. They are also why I set out to do my events to promote "authentic" food, and if you are the type that wants to argue what authentic is, STFU. "You people" that say that there is no such thing as authentic or some other dumb train of thought, like thinking you are species fluid. Yea, ok, you half-donkey (I do want to be half-dolphin tho). What those type of buffoons are not aware of is that the vast majority of business/restaurant owners are morons, so if you think most care about food and culture, they don't. The vast majority care about money. So, when I see LEGIT places like Khan Toke, saying authentic, and looking to care (based on their menu), I only have love for them. In Colorado, the food scene out here is dumb and everybody wants to pretend they are Japanese or doing Japanese food because the business owners go the path of least resistance (the Japanese community here is tiny and most Asians are SE Asian, Chinese and Korean, except Japanese food is popular). Chinese food was popular, but they had a race to the bottom with their $1.49, .99 cent scoop, to how low can you go pricing. The fusion business owners and their lowly competent ways is just a means to sell you on Thai or Chinese food (Tuk Tuk and several other Thai restaurants do sushi). Once again, that is NOT THE CASE with Khan Toke. Now if only I can find somebody to do a boat noodle soup because that is an event I want to promote in Denver this spring/summer. Oh, and the portions here are probably twice as big as most Thai spots and my only nitpick is, I don't think they are using a wok. Their kitchen should be setup for gas, but maybe no fire suppression system? I think that because the food doesn't have "wok hei" taste (I only know the Chinese name for it). I also wish I had gotten some Thai chili too, no condiments. I am glad we have a spot wanting to be Thai.

My favorite Thai place by far. Best Tom Kha and wantons, pad Thai is excellent. Everything else I've tried always falls short.
