It was pouring down rain so I hoped that it would be a better line situation at 11 AM on a Friday. It was still a 40 minute wait but much better than two hours. Inside it's not a huge dining room, but I did notice people would get up pretty quickly after finishing. This place smells like amazing barbecue inside even. Make sure you bring your pocketbook because it's not cheap but you have to pay for the quality. I didn't even know that they had a Michelin star too, which says a lot for barbecue. We got a little bit of everything and I'll give you just the highlight. The beans are without a doubt the best beans I've ever had in my life. The macaroni and cheese was out of this world good. My wife had the rib and she loved it. The brisket was absolutely some of the best I've ever had in my life. And I've been eating barbecue in Texas for over 30 years. After a mediocre experience, I was excited to be able to try Franklin's again fresh. We got to Franklins maybe a bit after noon? The line was out the back and down the street, not as long as I envisioned actually. There are folks outside who help you decide exactly how much to order and boy was she wrong. I felt like she overestimated, way overestimated for our group of like 10. The line moved slowly.. and when I got inside, I realized why. The counter area is small and they literally only serve one guest at a time. We probably spent 1-1.5 hours in line?! Not so bad for a Saturday, especially showing up a bit late. There is a small-ish area inside for seating and a small area outside, the place wasn't large by any means. However, we were lucky to have a large party leave right when we were ordering so we could all sit inside together. The meats were tender, a good mix of moist and lean. There was a nice smoke ring and a nice bark on the brisket. The meats were seasoned well. We were lucky enough to get the last of the ribs, tender, seasoned well and falls off the bone with a bite at the same time. I think the ribs were totally worth it... brisket was good, tender, moist, seasoned well.. did it stand out compared to other bbq I've tried?! Maybe not but I can see why it's rated up there. The sides were also good, as well as the sauces. Wish they moved faster, but no real complaints. What greeted me was perhaps some sort of Frankenstein's monster... something so large and intimidating that it made whatever Halloween costume you were wearing to be irrelevant. This crispy chicken sandwich was so big, so crispy, so good... that I stopped myself from eating the second half because I was afraid of what I might've become after devouring the entire thing. Fries were pretty much gone though. When reheating the sandwich the next day, the chicken retained a lot of crisp which is probably one of the best parts about this sandwich.
