Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Plenty of seating outside around 9:30. The orange juice was very fresh and tasty, and the chocolate chip pancakes were quite good. We also ordered the huevos rancheros which were supposed to come out on corn tortillas, but came out on tortilla chips. Not a big problem, they might have been out of tortillas. It was still pretty good and the salsa and guac was fresh. Everything came out fast and hot. Service was also good. A solid breakfast option on Captiva. read more

We're staying on Captiva for a family vacation, right down Andy Rosse from Keylime Bistro. Therefore, location and the decent Yelp rating brought us into the bistro during our stay. Service was prompt and met expectation. Our waitress provided us recommendations on drinks, food, specials, and dessert. Regarding the food: as per what you'd expect from an island dive. The menu was large (everything from seafood to pasta to...paella?? Yep!). Our group had some of all three aforementioned groups/items, and everything was good. Of important note: while good, the paella is certainly NOT typical paella. The wife did a great job of describing it as a seafood-rice-gumbo. Again, very tasty, but not what you expect when ordering paella. Portions are large - we shared quite a bit of what was ordered. Tried the...you guessed it....key lime pie for dessert, along with the Oreo Mud Pie. We will probably go back every night for the remainder of the week for the Key Lime Pie. The facility is a bit seedy, but definitely has some character - pastel walls, mock-wood floors, and some neon lights. Ambiance was provided by good live music in the tiki hut on front of the restaurant, and played through the sound system within the building. Haven't had a bad experience here yet. This trip we did breakfast and dinner and the key lime pie! Since it was November they had patio heaters out for the cooler weather. Live entertainment set the right mood. The food was great as usual and the service was awesome. We love this place! But would love to see the merchandise sold at the coffee shop with the logo on the sign. We were bummed when they only had it on a hat. We Would have bought 4 shirts! Maybe next year?? read more

We came here as I had read reviews about their amazing Key Lime Pie, which is supposedly one of the best around. As I am a fan of key Lime pie - I had to have a slice! It was good, an eight out of ten! The best I have had? probably not, but it delivered never the less. I really loved the quaint décor outside and we enjoyed sitting in their little courtyard watching the locals and holiday makers roam past. When we ate we were seated inside, I am ot sure if I liked the interior décor as much as outside - it made me feel like we were sat inside a she shed! (colours a little too load? But it was clean enough and the staff were pleasant enough. Unfortunately for us we were seated next to a Russian family - that had three very loud, young and unrurely children (standing on the tables and throwing food around - I Kid you not!) We had a great time at Keylime Bistro from the minute we met the host. He must be the manager - he is so friendly and chatted with us as we waited for a table to open up. The live music on the patio was fun - he played lots of crowd favorites and people were up dancing and singing along. We each had a special entree - the seafood pasta and the seafood risotto. We were given complimentary cheese, crackers, and grapes that were ok. We had a strawberry daiquiri (pretty good) and a blue hurricane (it was ok). We have had breakfast here two times this week. They serve breakfast later in the day than 11am which is when RC Otters stops serving breakfast. Breakfast combo I ordered was for two eggs and bacon. It also came with the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. A little spicy, and very tender cubes of potatoes. You also get some fresh fruit, no bread, for $9. The menu doesn't offer any ala cart items. So it isn't very flexible, but the food and service are good. Live music starts at Noon. read more

My family and I are repeat Key Lime bistro patrons; I first visited way back in 2014. The food here is quite good. I think the kitchen is solid. This year I ate at key lime for breakfast, lunch, dinner and visited once or twice for after dinner drinks or snacks and to hear the live music. I definitely recommend key lime! Check out some of the dinner we were served. For Captiva the prices are average and I think the food is above average. It's true that at times Key Lime seemed short staffed. I don't believe it's fair to base a rating entirely off of that. The live music is jamming, the food is well worth the value and it's my favorite place on the street. read more

My God, my daughter loves this place for the Keylime cheesecake's. I try to get excited about the place because of her general excitement. It really is her favorite place. However, it's just flat out really expensive for the average quality of the food. The drinks are OK, and the food was OK. However, on the inside, it just feels dirty. Stuffed grouper special is chock full o' spiny lobster meat (similar to langostino; nowhere near as sweet as Maine knuckle and claw) and coated in a nice hollandaise. The Shrimp to Shore Bloody is a stone close knockout and live music to boot! Look, when you have a bunch of tourists stranded on the tip of a remote island, you can feed them whatever grade food you want. It's called Captiva for a reason. And while other establishments capitalize on this "you ain't going nowhere" motif, I think the kids here do a proper job on execution. Matter of fact, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was their much-lauded Key Lime Pie which was too laden with whipped cream and creme anglaise to catch any real sense as to what the filling was about. Mega dry crust, too - it literally turned to sand when fork cut. Mo' butta por favor! Still, the entire meal - including the dual shrimp, hearts of palm and asparagus loaded Bloody Mary - was a notable one from a week of otherwise run-of-the-mill dishes. The food was expensive for such low quality. The chicken piccata and bistro salad were fine. My kids ordered mozzarella sticks and macho nachos. The sticks tasted like they took processed kids cheese sticks and fried them - they literally didn't melt like a mozzarella stick should be. On Vacation celebrating a milestone birthday. Found this charming restaurant. Started with drinks. Key lime margarita, chocolate martini, raspberry delight and virgin pina colado. Everyone delicious. Our appetizers came out quickly, calamari was tender and crispy, not the least bit greasy. Escargot was unique with mushrooms and tomatoes. The crab cake was actually nearly 90%crab meat like the ones I used to get in Maryland. I was delighted! We ended up taking half our mains home. Portions were large enough to satisfy a hearty appetite. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. They came out hit and quickly. Service was great. Shrimp tender and bigger than my niece's eye! I had the primevera risotto. Chock full of veges and yummy. Hubs had the seafood pasta. Lots of scallops and two huge shrimp. Pasta cooked to perfection with a creamy well seasoned sauce.
