Key Lime Bistro nailed it! The salmon with crab and key lime hollandaise was rich, bright, and downright dreamy. The carrots and parsnips had a cool twist, the broccoli actually tasted like someone cared, and the rice had this subtle sweetness--almost vanilla-ish--that totally worked. My brother loved the Voodoo chicken, "all the flavors exploded in my mouth at once". The rest of the fam loved the zesty scampi. Little extras made the night: sesame crackers with drinks, juicy red grapes, and a bold, addictive pimento cheese situation (basil? garlic? a little kick? yes please). Service was spot-on, the vibe was easy and fun, and the live music sealed it. Rinaldo, the one-man band, brought the groove with the flute and matched the atmosphere perfectly. Our waitress, Jennifer was really attentive too. Great food, great sound, great night. Would absolutely do it again. @ ac17c insta
We stopped in here for a quick breakfast after a few hours of shell-hunting down at Blind Pass. This was at about 10am on a Wednesday morning, mind you. The place was completely empty. We were the only patrons. Waiter was great- we sat outside and ordered coffee for me and a mixed drink (tasted like a girl-scout thin mint shake with booze!) for my wife. There was some sort of event going on across the street- ground breaking or something similar for a new building. Lots of spiffy people zooming around in Range Rovers and Bentleys. Blah blah blah... I hid my Rolex so no one would think that we were part of the entourage. Wife ordered eggs and bacon and I ordered the sirloin tips and eggs. The restaurant got a few more tables as we waited. Everyone seemed laid back and truly on island time. Our food arrived along with a refill of my coffee. Everything was delish. We cleaned our plates... breakfast potatoes were especially good. We will return next year, as we make our yearly pilgrimage to Captiva every October.
We thought this was going to be a normal review but it went sideways. We only had about an hour and they were not that busy. It was a limited after 1pm when we came in. We ordered a tuna appetizer and after eating about half of it we for a hair under the Wasabi sauce. I went and told the waitress and she apologized and said they would take it off the bill and make is a new one. The new one came and we didn't have any issues. We were waiting for our food after that for awhile. We watched as others who were sat after us were already receiving their food/orders but we hadn't. It was like 4 tables we watched. It's not like we ordered something weird? We waitednow about 45 to 50 minutes and we had enough. So we asked for the check and for our orders to be boxed. That took another 10 to 15. We paid and she apologized but we had to go because of the parking. A quick meal turned into one of the worst in recent history we had. We ate back at the room and my wife said they crab cakes were salty and my chicken club was really dry. My wife really wanted to eat here since the last time we were in captiva, but man were we dissappointed.
We were here last night, we both ordered salads, we were the only ones sitting outside listening to a guy singing and playing his guitar. Our beer was cold and our salads were awesome! Our server Jose, was very polite and attentive. Will definitely visit again.
we come here as a family and they always accommodate us - about 20 people. Ambience is their main selling point. Food is ok. right next to the beach so location is great. Good live music but overall a good experience!
First of all most restaurants have great food so it's about the service. I've got two dogs. The owner is the one that seated me very friendly guy that makes me wanna come back so in a day of hiking along the beach with my dogs I just want a virgin piña colada. They've got my business.
It was fine. Not impressed. too expensive, but I get it...captive audience. Not many options around. I'm glad it was there. Everyone agreed the best thing were the vegetables. Cooked perfect and seasoned well.
I've been coming to Captiva Island since 1987 and finally tried Key Lime Bistro. I was not impressed. We sat outside, where they had live music. It was a guy with a guitar, who if you actually watched him you would see he was not playing, but it was a soundtrack and he would occasionally strum! His voice was terrible- I mean laughable awful. And he sang depressing songs, not your typical upbeat vacation feel-good stuff. Food was good. However, We spent $38 after tip for two sandwiches and a water. We were still hungry afterwards as the fruit side was a thin slice of cantaloupe, thin slice of pineapple and a wedge of orange. Most places would call that garnish not a side of fruit. Beer prices were high. Service was mediocre. I will not be back. read more

The place was packed when we got here Thursday night. They have live music and a lot of outdoor tables. We had bruschetta for an appetizer which comes with yummy cheese melted on top. My boyfriend and I shared the grouper stuffed with lobster (the fish was slightly overcooked) and the seafood risotto. Both were okay. Our friends had the seared tuna coated in sesame seeds which was very good. We had the chocolate seduction cake which was excellent! We discovered the true Keylime a few years ago when we stayed at the Captiva inn and it included breakfast at Keylime or RC Otters. It was a great deal and so happy we discovered it. It is now our last stop before heading home to airport. A few weeks ago we checked out of our condo and headed to Keylime for breakfast brunch. I ordered the crab cakes benedict which is really amazing and my friend ordered the Belgian Waffles. Having traveled here many times together we now share with each other. I mean now I get two amazing items. Crab cakes are delicious and the keylime hollandaise makes this meal. It is sometime really hard to share. The belgian waffle with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and syrup is amazing. I always have to add the bloody mary to my final day on vacation. Cheers try it out. Its great and love the food. read more
We came here on a quick vacation to Sanabel island. It's such a lovely restaurant with bright colors and delicious food. The nachos were superb and the Keylime is amazing! Service could've been a little nicer but overall we had a very decent experience. read more

We've visited this bistro just twice in the decade that we've been coming down to Sanibel Island but really enjoyed our meal and experience both times. On our most recent visit in late February, we enjoyed eggs Benny's on the patio. Service was polite and friendly. For our brunch, I opted for the crab cake version and my hubby chose a benny with bacon. We also ordered a fresh orange juice to share, which was so delicious. The food arrived pretty quickly and was presented nicely. While the menu states there is key lime in their home made hollandaise sauce, I personally couldn't taste it but my meal was totally yummy and satisfying. I enjoyed the homefried potatoes and fresh fruit which were served alongside the eggs benny. The hubster also really enjoyed his meal as well. While I've only tried brunch here, I would return again someday to try dinner, lunch or drinks. read more
After two plus years we decided to give Keylime another try since we are big fans of its sister restaurant RC Otters across the street. While it still has the attraction of a full liquor license (most places just have a beer and wine license), that is about all you can say. Too bad, it could be really great with some upgrading of the menu and the place. It is in a prime location. With South Seas under new management, the investment might payoff. Captiva has never been busier. read more

Hello Keylime Bistro, hello brunch! A group of eight of us came for brunch on the weekend. We got a large table out on the patio adjacent to the small stage where they had a gentleman singing and playing the guitar. I had the Crab Cake Benedict (two poached eggs served over sliced tomato & crab cakes on an english muffin, finished with key lime hollandaise & breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit) and it was great! We all tried different dishes and everything looked great! We topped it off by sharing several pieces of key lime pie that was mouth watering. And BTW their oven wasn't working when we were there but that only limited two dishes from the menu, no biggie, life happens. I hope they get it fixed or replaced soon. This is a colorful, comfortable spot just a short walk from the beach with really good food and good service. read more

10 years ago, we came to the Key Lime Bistro on our honeymoon and remembered it so fondly. This time, not so much. I ordered a burger. It was honestly one of the worst burgers I've ever eaten. It had a rubbery consistency and a weird aftertaste, almost like plastic. I had asked for medium, this had zero pink. But even being overcooked would not account for the really weird texture and taste. I had my husband try it and he said the same thing. Our waiter had not been overly friendly to that point and was much more interested in hanging by the bar talking than checking in on us. We had to find another waitress to return the burger. Our original waiter then came by and said, "I don't know what was wrong with the burger, we've been selling them just fine all day." Kind of rude, in my opinion. I asked for mozzarella sticks instead of the burger and they were ok. The fries were great. My husband's chicken BLT was nothing special but not terrible. The dessert, however, was great! My daughter had the mud pie and I had the key lime pie, which is one thing I remembered from 10 years ago. It was still delicious! read more

Really yummy food and they arent lying, their key lime pie is the best. Absolute best key lime pie i have ever had. Their service was ok and their frozen drinks were too, but a little too slow even though it wasnt busy when we went and much too sweet with little alcohol, respectively. Get their grouper sandwich blackened and definitely splurge on the fries, they sre worth it. The sauce for the seafood apasta was oh so good. Their kids burger was a generous portion and the grilled chicken sandwich was good too. read more
Great menu pricing. You can park across the street in the two mini lots. Check times before you come. They only serve appropriate servings at the time frames stated on menus. Even have paella!!! Loved our lunchtime experience at KLB. It has a very laid back, beachy vibe with live music. We sat outside and started off with a few tropical cocktails since they have a nice selection. Our waitress was very sweet and delivered service with a smile. Food was excellent. We had grouper in a variety of ways. The French fries are crispy and delicious. Crab cakes good as well. The tuna tataki came nicely presented-very fresh. The highlight of the meal was their key lime pie. It was so good we took a pie to go. Not to be missed. Also good was the apple crisp a la mode. Key Lime Bistro serves breakfast and dinner as well. I'm betting they are all good. Worth a visit. read more
Grilled snapper sandwich with coleslaw, slices of varied fruit and pickle! All delicious! Washed down with a Landshark lager. Mr Mussels simmered in tomatoes and white wine was the perfect appetizer/lunch for my friend with a glass of Pinot Grigio. The key lime pie slice is HUGE!!! And then my friend says "not eating any of it", WHAT?!?! but I ate 2/3rds of it, yum! Never had the key lime pie before, yet this one seemed like a good one for my first experience. Cute little place with some outside dining available. Service was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Bistro Benedict and my boyfriend got the corned beef hash and eggs. My poached eggs were overcooked (big pet peeve), the English muffin was soggy on the bottom, and the breakfast potatoes were boring. The fresh fruit on the side was a small piece of cantaloupe ( it was sweet), an overripe wedge of pineapple and a lemon wedge. My boyfriend's corned beef hash was chewy and average at best. This is a fun little spot with live music. It's very popular so try to get a reservation. After initially having to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to come take our drink order, service was great. Friendly and prompt. The food was mostly great. Our party go the tuna and calamari apps. The tuna stood out as the favorite. For entrees we got blackened grouper, seared tuna, and the stuffed grouper. The stuffed grouper was a let down. It was overly salted and the lobster meat was completely shredded. It could have been replaced with imitation crab meat with little noticeable difference in the dish. The hollandaise sauce continued the theme of overpowering the flavors of the ingredients. For one of the more expensive items on the menu, I would have expected better execution. Lastly, we couldn't leave without getting a slice of key lime pie (and neither should you). It was fantastic. Their crust is a bit different than typical pie crust, with a bit of a chunky graham cracker vibe. Delicious! read more
Highly recommend Keylime Bistro for a drink and dessert! If you've been to Captiva frequently you know that the island typically goes to sleep around 830 or so...ha! Well the one place that doesn't go to sleep that early is Keylime. Great live music on the patio until 10pm. Then on Saturday nights they actually have a DJ come around 9:30 and play until the party stops! (We stayed until after midnight because the drinks were flowing). One small suggestion I do have is the wait staff were all dressed very casually (like sweatshirts and shorts). I feel Keylime is a "fancier" place to come so maybe having the staff match that vibe improve the experience. Overall a perfect place to come for the night! read more

Ate outdoors and they kept the water glssses full. Nice guitar and music singer but allowed conversations. Ordered off the lunch menu. 3 veggies, two fries and a huge salad. We were excited to try key lime bistro after perusing their menu online. We ordered three seafood entrees to go at $20+ per entree. Grilled grouper for our 7 yr old, which unfortunately wasn't deboned at all, so he gave up and couldn't eat it. The shrimp scampi, which was okay. And the walnut crusted snapper, which had only one walnut in the entire dish and no crust whatsoever. The tropical salsa of mangoes kiwis and red bell peppers provided sweetness to the dish which thankfully gave it some flavor. Sides were yellow rice, shredded carrots and broccoli. If you like your veggies seasoned, perhaps request it, as these were underwhelming. We did appreciate the staff, two stars for them as they were very nice on the phone and in person. One of the few options that was open on Christmas Day. We were surprised to not have a wait even though the place was packed. Shortly after we were seated, there was a line forming for tables. We all ordered of the chefs special menu, not sure if this was a Christmas menu or if they always provide this. We all enjoyed our dinners, which includes macadamia nut Mahi, sea bass, seafood pasta, and coconut shrimp. The Mahi was tasty but the raspberry sauce seemed strange and wasn't necessary. It was flavorful but it tasted like jelly on my fish. I would have preferred a mango/pineapple salsa like the sea bass came with. We each tried a different dessert but none of them blew us away. The creme brulee was very bland without a crispy torched layer. The brownie sundae was probably our favorite but also the most basic of the 4. Overall, this is a decent option when visiting Captiva but it is definitely overpriced as a tourist trap. read more
Went for lunch on a Thursday and sat at a nice shaded table outside. The server was friendly at first, but eventually seemed annoyed at my group for needing water refills and such. My sisters been craving a Key Lime Pie martini for days and she finally got one! I also got the banana cream martini and that was delicious as well; both vey creamy and flavorful. My group got the smoked salmon Benedict, crab cake Benedict, and a crab cake sandwich. Everything was delicious and one if the best restaurants we've been to in the area thus far. I'd definitely recommend for breakfast/lunch. read more

Stuffed grouper special is chock full o' spiny lobster meat (similar to langostino; nowhere near as sweet as Maine knuckle and claw) and coated in a nice hollandaise. The Shrimp to Shore Bloody is a stone close knockout and live music to boot! Look, when you have a bunch of tourists stranded on the tip of a remote island, you can feed them whatever grade food you want. It's called Captiva for a reason. And while other establishments capitalize on this "you ain't going nowhere" motif, I think the kids here do a proper job on execution. Matter of fact, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was their much-lauded Key Lime Pie which was too laden with whipped cream and creme anglaise to catch any real sense as to what the filling was about. Mega dry crust, too - it literally turned to sand when fork cut. Mo' butta por favor! Still, the entire meal - including the dual shrimp, hearts of palm and asparagus loaded Bloody Mary - was a notable one from a week of otherwise run-of-the-mill dishes. Way to go, Keylime Bistro! read more
