Half was Margarita cake with coconut filling and the other half was marble with fudge filling. To this day, people talk about how it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. After a long day of walking and sightseeing, a small afternoon coffee break was much needed. We ordered iced coffee along with a slice of honey cake. The cake was moist, not overly sweet, and paired perfectly with either iced or hot coffee. The only downside was the service toward the end of our visit. Since they were preparing to close, the staff had already started putting things away and cleaning while customers were still seated and eating or drinking. Personally, I think cleaning should begin after closing time rather than while guests are still trying to enjoy their experience. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the honey cake and would love to try their cold brew next time.

Service: The staff were friendly, helpful, and patient. We never felt rushed. Atmosphere: The shop is well lit, clean, and has an upbeat aesthetic. Mattheessen's is a place we would, and did, return to for a second visit.
