We tried a few different locations for croissants and pastries and this truly is the place to go. When you step inside it is very small and can get packed quickly, but it is worth the wait. The staff is quick to get you your order and has fresh pastries each day. We ordered a box of pastries and they were all fresh and delicious, not stale or hard as our experiences at other locations had been. We stop to inquire about a golf cart rental. He provided us information for the rental, and also told us to check out Old Town Bakery since my husband was on a search to find a good key lime pie. They offer street parking, which was great and they weren't busy at our time of arrival. We knew what we wanted and it didn't take long to order and receive it! It's a small bakery, so it may not be conducive for dining in, but it was perfect for to-go orders. I'm not a huge fan of key lime pie, but it wasn't tangy which I was expecting it to be. Was within walking distance to Old Town Bakery and went in every morning for 8 days. Their puff pastry items are absolutely delicious. Baked fresh every day and lots of varieties. The almond croissants and raspberry croissants were my favorite. They make an amazing key lime pie. They also have delicious coffee, juices, fresh bread and sandwiches, Danish pastries and scones. For being a bakery and for the price you pay I expected more. The workers aren't very friendly and there's nowhere to sit and eat. I had the TB & J (turkey, bacon, and pepper jelly) on what I thought was going to be fresh baked Italian bread. The bread was stale and crumbly like cornbread. Walked in and said hello to the cashier (I was the only customer in the bakery at that time) and she did not say anything back. I ordered it with turkey, fontina, lettuce, tomato, onion and then I paid the 0.75¢ extra for the basil pesto. When my sandwich was ready I took it back to my car to eat it (there isn't anywhere to sit and eat here). I was disappointed to find out the basil pesto was barely there. Only on one spot in the middle of each half. So the majority of the sandwich was dry. The sandwich was good but dry, especially when I ordered it with the pesto and paid extra for it (didn't pay a lot but you get the point). The bread was good. Overall a good not great experience. The brie cheese is so good! There's a lot of selection and you can customize your own thing too. Prices are really reasonable too, especially these days. The key lime pie is super good too. I like that this bakery is local. The pastries were a little picked over a couple hours after opening. I was still able to order a chocolate croissant and a slice of key lime pie though. Add a sausage egg croissant to that and the total is nearly $15. The key lime pie was good. But imo nothing outstanding. The crust tasted like it was made out of ginger snaps which was a nice twist. The chocolate croissant was certainly in the smaller side.. but it was packed with chocolate! Kimpton gave us $9 breakfast vouchers which we used for lunch since we had breakfast plans. We ordered key west chicken wraps which had grilled chicken with cheddar cheese, lettuce tomato and guacamole. They were tasty, but we should have gotten chocolate croissants and scones instead, we were just trying not to go crazy. Mr./Mrs Niall, first of all, I don't remember the owner serving, cooking or been at the cash register that morning, secondly, if the other lady who was making the coffee and preparing the food for the customers was you (the owner) then she would've step in and asked what was the problem, so I don't think you were there to witnessed what happened, but I had witness that were with me, and to say that I was loud or screaming, you must be out of your mind. Third, evidently you will favor your employee vs the customer, something we don't see ever or often since the phrase "the customer is always right" exists, even when not in all cases the customer is right, but in this case, it fell of the wagon. Bottom line, next time you're am in Key West, which I had a wonderful and an amazing time there, with the exception of stepping in your bakery, don't you worry, cause I will Not go back to your bakery as long as I live. Btw, and at my age I do know what a great and an amazing customer service should be since I've been dealing with people all my life, and unfortunately in today's society customer service has decreased in value due to people like your employee or business owners like you. We came here for a slice of key lime pie since I saw it on many lists for places to try key lime pie in Key West. I really loved the filling. It was perfectly tangy how I think it should. Many of the others we had were not as tangy. The crust, on the other hand, was not good. It was the worst crust of the 5 pies we had.
