We only ordered a cordito here, but the service was so excellent and friendly! Parking is a bit rough, as most places in the area are - but if you're walking, it's a non issue. Food: I'm normally more of a tea latte person, but I've decided to develop a taste for coffee. Someone suggested starting with mochas as a way to ease into it, especially since my palate tends to be sensitive to bitterness. With that in mind, I ordered a mocha with extra chocolate and additional foam. It may have been closer to a "dirty hot chocolate," but it was definitely delicious. Service: The staff were friendly and helpful. As I explained my new interest in coffee, the barista did a great job helping me choose the right drink. They even laughed a bit when I shared my strategy for developing my palate. They also did an excellent job with the temperature and the extra foam. Atmosphere: It's a well-designed coffee shop. The layout and décor create a relaxed yet slightly upscale feel. There's seating for different group sizes, and the menus are easy to read and thoughtfully presented. Came here Saturday morning and it was very busy! They only had one person working the register so the wait took a while but hey -- we're on island time I guess! Went here nearly every day on my trip to key west - the coffee was TOP TIER! I got a vanilla iced latte each time & the ice cubes being coffee was the best part of the latte. 1st visit as recommended by ChatGPT. On arrival waited at counter to be served 3-4 mins without acknowledgment from the Barista. Then after 3-4 mins someone came out from the back and took order. Of course after asking what I wanted, hitting 2 or 3 keys on the cash register it prompted me for tip amount... for what the shi**y Service I got so far? Needless to say she was not amused when I hit $0 ... you reep what you sow! And that is that basis how the tipping culture started but unfortunately has expanded into demanded/expected! We stopped by on a Monday morning in late August to find a nice young lady running the show in the front of the house. She made some recommendations off of the menu and we placed our order and then grabbed a seat. There were a few tables and a small counter bar. At best the place could accommodate about a dozen folks or so. As the drinks were made and food was finished it was brought out to our table. We tried a few things like the iced cafe mocha and a regular coffee - both above average. Our daughter ordered a strawberry mango smoothie which she loved. We had the Havana and Caprese breakfast sandwiches - both super tasty and fresh, and she had a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Overall great! You can feel a "homey" atmosphere in there. Limited sitting indoor and two tables outdoor. When it comes to coffee, I believe this place is slightly better that Cuban Coffee Queen (see my other posts). The coffee options were more and were able to get the one we wanted. We went there two times on our visit and ate breakfast items but they were yummy. 5 Stars - The Avocado Toast is a MUST! Hearty Multigrain Toast with freshly made avocado, diced onions and tomatoes. It had some seasoning on it and use the lime wedge to give it some additional flavor profile. It was diced not sliced avocado. It comes with two sides of eggs too. Wife preferred it twice so I know she LOVED IT! 3.5 Stars - I ordered a sandwich. Just your basic ham, cheddar cheese and egg sandwich. It was ok. Better with hot sauce. 5 stars - Coffee - we ordered a drip coffee w a shot of espresso, Colada - two LONG shots of espresso, and a cappuccino. The coffee were excellent. Bold, dark and strong! I went here to get coffee based on the reviews, but unfortunately I was highly disappointed in both hospitality and the coffee. When we walked in, the first girl at the espresso machine just looked at us and barely managed to crack even a (less than) half smile at us, not saying any kind of greeting. Then the second girl that went to the register did the same thing - as if we were inconveniencing them by walking in to the place. For the coffee - I ordered the iced hazelnut coffee with milk. One thing that stands out is that they freeze their left over coffee at the end of the day and make ice cubes out of it for their cold drinks. Small place, confusion about where to stand when placing order. I had to ask a girl standing at the door if she was in line. Then later, another customer that came in asked me the same thing. I ordered a strawberry banana smoothie. 2 people behind the counter, girl at the cash register and a young man complaining (very loudly) to a customer at the counter about spring break college girls, mocking their voices, etc. (It was crowded with a lot of college girls) After 20 minutes of people coming and going, I asked the counter customer how long does it normally take for a smoothie. He wasn't sure. I said if I had known it would be 20 minutes I would not have ordered it. Now the young man turns his attention to me and asks what I ordered and I told him. He then yells in the back and within 2 minutes the smoothie magically appears. The young man LOUDLY announces that the smoothie was FREE as I was on my way out. How magnanimous of this blowhard. Decided to give a different spot some business, since I've given Goldman's Bagels my business two days in a row (so delicious). Keys Coffee had an amazing 5 Stars (which after I combed through them later found out it it's not a 100% 5 Stars). The ambiance is clean, cutesy, and bright. The staff is nice, but not overly helpful as you would expect in a five star establishment. The smoothie was fresh and good, not great though. It was way too watery for a smoothie, was closer to a juice. The sandwich was hot and tasted good. Definitely needed hot sauce to give it more flavor. Overall it is a good spot, but not great. I thought 3 stars was a little rough, but 4 stars a little generous. I always round up on this occasion. Will I be back? Probably not unless I'm staying close to this place and not much other options. read more
