We were a group of six looking for lunch in downtown Key West when my BIL recommended the Cuban Coffee Queen location, based on a prior visit. Several of us had the Shipwreck sandwich, 1 had a chicken salad sandwich 1 had a steak sandwich. The sandwiches were all delicious. All were served with a bag of Plantain chips - which were only "so so" - OK but not something I'd order again. The guys working the counter were pleasant and helpful. I wanted to like this place. My first experience wasn't bad. I got the Cuban frappe and my wife got the iced coffee with caramel and almond milk. There was no caramel flavoring and barely any almond milk. My wife went up and asked for more and it still didn't taste good. My frappe was very good but we went back the next day and my wife and I get the frappe the the same way and it was not good. It's safe to say the coffee is not consistent and is dependent on who the barista is. It's a small coffee shop with limited seating inside. read more

Convenient shop to stop by for my morning coffee. Quick service and the iced coffee was better than I expected. I stopped by relatively early in the day, so it was still pretty quiet. Good spot to just sip your drink and people watch. read more

Cuban Coffee Queen ruined other sandwiches for me in the best way. I got the Cuban bread with cream cheese, honey, and everything bagel seasoning, and like... how is it THAT good?? Every 2 years I go to FL with family and our tradition is to get Cuban coffee and try new places in new areas. I had 3 different Cuban coffees from Cuban restaurants and HANDS DOWN, Cuban Coffee Queen wins for best Cuban coffee around The Keys! I don't normally drink coffee, but I do here. They have a mini cup, like shot glass, called a bucci that lets you get a great boost of caffeine. They will add sugar and milk if you desire. You can add more from the self station. There are a variety of coffee sizes. There are also options to get tea and hot chocolate. There were even some unique, unknown soda cans. Grab a cuban sandwich here. It was not the best, but it was certainly tasty. Lots of locals come here. They have several locations around Key West so you can get your caffeine fix anytime. You can take it to go or sit down in their small cafe to enjoy. Definitely worth a visit during your trip to Key West. read more

The coffee is very good and the breakfast burrito is even better! Loaded with chorizo links, eggs, rice and beans, it was almost too much for me to finish. For coffee, I had the large iced Cuban coffee with sugar. It was also excellent. This is a must stop for us when we come to Key West! The tv menu inside is hard to read..not sure if the font is too small, out of focus, or I am just old. There is a large menu out front though just in case you are old also :) read more

Visited this spot in Mallory square recently. The spot is very different from the one that you potentially have seen pictures of with the mural on the outside and a walk up coffee window. This location is inside the shopping center and has a full counter service merchandise and a variety of seating options all in air conditioning. Coffee was good and they had a variety of food options. Our group got the Cuban American, Cuban vanilla (the favorite!), iced coffee, strawberry twirl smoothie and Cuban breakfast burrito which was also delicious. This spot has the pros of larger space and air conditioning but it's not "instagrammable" like the one on Caroline and Margaret. But, anywhere you can get Cuban coffee is probably a win! read more

We stopped in here while on a Key West Food and Cultural Walking Tour. Our guide quickly brought our pre-ordered food tastings over upon our arrival. My husband decided to get coffee from Cuban Coffee Queen during our visit to Key West. I wasn't expecting much. Ever since I visited Italy, I haven't been that enthusiastic about coffee here. He ordered the cafe con leche iced. It was so delicious! I love how strong it is and it's not bitter. What really got me was the frozen coffee ice cubes. YUM! That was the best touch! I've always seen these as hacks on social media but I've never seen it available in a commercial setting. Needless to say, we went back and got the same order the next day. Next time we're in Key West, we'll be back for more! read more

My very picky coffee drinking husband loved this place. We came everyday for coffee, lattes, smoothies and food. They can make the con leche without sugar. Also decaf! Yum! The cheese sandwich with tomato and banana peppers was delicious (veggies are add on). Nice folks. Lots of indoor seating or head toward the water for lots of tables right on the water. Can watch the cruise ships come and go. Oh!! The sweet potato fries with curry sauce. OMG We also went to the one off of Duval but he liked the lattes better here and it's not as crammed crowded. read more

I did some homework and there were many mentions of this place for coffee and their sandwich. I had to be a tourist (which I was) and try it out. I didn't have super high expectations but the Cuban mix sandwich and the ice coffee were great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a quick bite and some coffee. Cute place to stop for coffee, especially if you want it strong. The breakfast sandwiches were big enough to share and on authentic Cuban bread. I need an iced coffee now! Came by here, it's in a refurbished/repurposed historic, I think an old Coast Guard building. With AC to cool off! I believe there are a few locations around town. Anyways, the coffee is good and tasty, my kind of bold flavor. I enjoyed it very much! Menu offers a variety to choose from breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, desserts, pastries, etc. This location has a small dine-in area, just outside there are additional tables to chill at (figuratively and literally). This became our daily breakfast spot! Iced coffee is delicious and ice cubes are made of coffee so when they melt you don't get watered down coffee! YES! It's worth the stop! AWESOME iced coffee! My hubs LOVES coffee. He especially loves hot lattes, but this time also got an iced coffee due to reviews and it was by far his favorite! The ice cubes are made of coffee so as they melt you just get more delish coffee, not a watery mess. Genius!!! The iced coffees have one of those plastic seal lids that you pop through with a straw. Only negative is I think the straw was paper - ugh. Otherwise it was amazing and would highly recommend. read more

Always my go to spot when in Key West for the best cuban coffee. The iced Cafe con leche is amazing. They use coffee cubes, so when melted it doesn't get watered down instead you just get more coffee. They also have pretty good food, the cuban breakfast options are tasty. But truly I go just for the coffee. They also sell packaged coffee to enjoy when you go home. I always get a bag or 2 to go. Go here- you won't regret it! If you like strong cuban style coffee, this is the spot to try. They have a few locations throughout Key West, so no matter where you are staying there should be one close by. read more

The Cuban Coffee Queen is a coffee shop chain around they Keys. How could we not try Cuban coffee while in Key West! What I found is that Cuban coffee is very strong, bold, velvety and smooth and doesn't need any flavoring or even milk. No sugar nothing. You will ruin it if you add anything to it. I also wanted to get another drink, a less caffeinated for the afternoon. However, I found the I felt a little rushed by the barista even though there was no one waiting after us or before us in line. Maybe there was only one option that was less caffeinated. I don't know. Not much effort was put into this transaction by the barista from start to end. We ended up sitting in the shopping center corridor which was fine but I don't know if this coffee place even has an area to sit down and enjoy the coffee. For both coffees we spend over $12. I think that a little more friendlier interaction would made this a fantastic experience. read more

Not the same vibe as their other location at Margaret Street, but decent location since it's right at Mallory Square. Service wasn't as friendly the time that I came and just felt unwelcomed. Anyways, I ordered a smoothie since it was midday. It was the Piña. It was alright, but not fully blended as there were a few chunks of ice and pineapple. Out of all their items, coffee is where it's at so definitely get that if you haven't before. I recommend visiting their other location since this one is a bit amiss. read more

I've walked in and walked out twice now. Super slow. It's not that I'm impatient. On the contrary, I have a fairly high tolerance for these sorts of things. Things take time, I get it. It's just they're that ridiculously slow. No sense of urgency whatsoever or any sort of customer service acknowledging customers in line. Somebody needs a talking to. You walk up to the window, place your order and wait for your name to be called. Everyone is very friendly! I got the caramel Cuban coffee latte and I enjoyed it. I don't think it was as strong as some other Cuban coffee I've had but I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, so you still got a nice coffee flavor without being overpowered by sugar. Love the mural on the side and there are lots of roosters hanging around begging for some of your leftovers.

Coffee was strong and amazing, cafe was spacious and clean (the air conditioning was a life saver), and staff was nice. If you're in the area wanting some good Cuban coffee, look no further. I had been gifted a bag of coffee from this location the year before and wanted to make sure to visit while in Key West this year. They have a wide variety of food and drink options. If you are not a coffee person, there are other options as well, including a fridge with water, sodas, seltzer and small wine bottles. Their shirts and bags of coffee are reasonably priced and have artwork on the coffee bags from a local artist. Definitely add it to your list of coffee shops to visit!

Fortunately, the owner noticed our confusion and warmly invited us in. Food: It wasn't listed on the menu, but they were happy to make me a London Fog tea latte. My son ordered a white chocolate latte. Both drinks were good. Personally, I prefer coffee served in a mug, and they only use paper cups, which took away a bit from the experience. They don't offer much in the way of baked goods, but they did have butterscotch scones. The scone was slightly too sweet for my taste, but the texture was excellent. They heated it for us, which made it even more enjoyable. Service: The service was exceptionally friendly. We felt genuinely welcomed, and the owner took the time to have a conversation with us. After hearing his story and seeing his commitment and work ethic firsthand, I found myself rooting for his success. Atmosphere: Since they share space with the ice cream shop, the environment isn't fully coffee-centric. Coffee is the focus earlier in the day, with ice cream taking over later. There is limited seating, and for me, part of the coffee shop experience is slowing down, drinking from a proper mug, and enjoying a calm, dedicated café environment. I'm not sure what their long-term plans are, but I hope they eventually move into their own space. Options like Blueberry Cheesecake, Brown Butter Hazelnut, and Cuban Coffee Cake stand out. I chose the Cuban Coffee Cake. It was essentially a spiced coffee cake shaped like a donut, topped with plenty of glaze and crumble. The portion was generous. It could easily feed two people, but I managed to finish the entire thing. For a beverage, I ordered a Mocha Latte. The flavor was very good, but it was served on the cool side. It was completely cold before I finished, and I ended up tossing the last portion. They only serve drinks in paper cups, not ceramic mugs. Although mugs were visible, I was told the health department does not allow them to use them. For me, coffee in a real mug always feels better than paper. Service I have mixed feelings about the service. The person taking my order seemed a bit on edge. When I asked about the mug situation, she appeared annoyed that I would even ask. Since it was my first visit, I asked about the most popular donut, and that also seemed to irritate her. I rephrased and asked for her personal favorite instead, which she answered more willingly. I noticed a few other staff interactions, and the overall tone of the crew felt tense. Not sure if that's typical or if it was just a busy morning. Atmosphere I took a small table inside to finish my coffee and donut. There are several small tables, best suited for two people. Toward the back of the dining area there were boxes and pallets visible. This isn't necessarily a place you visit for ambiance. Most people grabbed a box of donuts and left. Only a handful were dining inside. If you want a good donut with creative flavors, this place delivers. Just don't expect a relaxed coffee shop experience with welcoming, friendly staff.

After a long day of walking and sightseeing, a small afternoon coffee break was much needed. We ordered iced coffee along with a slice of honey cake. The cake was moist, not overly sweet, and paired perfectly with either iced or hot coffee. The only downside was the service toward the end of our visit. Since they were preparing to close, the staff had already started putting things away and cleaning while customers were still seated and eating or drinking. Personally, I think cleaning should begin after closing time rather than while guests are still trying to enjoy their experience. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the honey cake and would love to try their cold brew next time.
