Walked past here with my fine arts students and it seemed inviting enough to stop and ask for a cup of ice...(local or not, which we are...I asked, "Hi there! Honey is there anyway I could grab a cup of ice from you?"...she said, "yes, but I'll have to charge you for it." I said, "ok thank you so much honey" and I went to limp up to the counter (bc I have a boot on my broken foot) to pay and she shouts out "please stop calling me honey!" I was like umm what am I supposed to call you? In my head...I can't see a name tag you're not a miss and I think using ma'am is a little offputting.... I paused. I said "OK" walked in to pay. She handed me the cup. Just take it. Probably because she saw the school's name on my shirt and professional educator ID....idk weird. But thank you for the ice. I appreciate it. I haven't had the food or anything to drink yet, but I'm assuming by the environment and energy of the employees just by the amount of negative reviews. I see where they're coming from. Super friendly helpful and nice. Quick. Unsure why all the shade in the other reviews, I've been in at least over dozen times since Covid and they've been consistently very good. My wife and I recently stayed at the Opal Key hotel, and found this cute little shop as we were waiting for our room to be ready. Upon trying the coffee, we found our lattes to be absolutely delicious! We tried other places in Key West but found Gator Joe's to be our favorite. Service was good as well; I was recommended a spinach & feta croissant for my wife rather than a more popular option, and she ended up loving it. This shop may not be a 'cafe' in terms of sitting down and working, etc., but if you're looking for, in my opinion, the best coffee in Key West, look no further. read more

They remade my sister's latte THREE TIMES (she's extra) and stayed pleasant. All three were delicious.

So I wanted to try this coffee place and if I ever decide to go back next time I go to Key West and I actually do get to try it hopefully I will have better things to say and possibly a review that's more fair. My husband and I just got off a jet ski tour and his ankle was injured so we only had his credit card to pay with, like smart people we left cash and many other valuables back where we stayed so we wouldn't lose them on the jet skis. I noticed this coffee shop while hubby was icing his ankle, I walked in, ordered then to my dismay when I went to pay the employee informed me it was cash only. I told him I only had the credit card and he told me there was an ATM in the store. We don't take cash advances on our credit card but I walked out of the store anyway to see if my husband had a pin number for the credit card. I really don't like giving bad reviews based on an experience like this, sure I could have asked first if they took credit cards but the employee/manager could have informed me it was cash only too. I also get annoyed with cash only businesses the point behind a business is to keep every customer happy and accept credit cards as well. If I come back with cash and actually get to try the coffee here I'll give the place a better review, I'm only doing this bad review because I thought the employee/manager was rude and I wish he told me cash only before he wasted my time and his. read more

You think the owner would coach their staff on how to deliver excellent customer service. Or even average customer service world be nice. I mean hello, you're right there where the ships dock and have an influx of people coming in to drop some cash$$ on a regular basis in your store. We stayed at Sunset Keys for a week.and were looking to kill some time before our boat showed up. My husband and I went in and asked about what they offered. No enthusiasm. No personality. We got the Key Lime Pie. Not even a thank you or a smile when we paid. She just put my receipt on the counter and walked to the back. It wasn't that the staff member was quiet or shy.... just had an attitude of indifference. Our interaction with the employee was short and unfavorably memorable, and resulted in us not returning (and we had several opportunities) even though the pie was pretty darn good for a pie coming pre-portioned out of a refrigerator. Yes, the guy behind the counter acted like I interrupted his day by ordering a sandwich, but he wasn't overly rude. I usually order Cuban sandwiches when I'm in south FL, because everyone does them just a little different. I ordered the Cuban from here, and was very surprised at how good it was. The bread was very tasty, and the ingredients all seemed very good. Is it worth $12, no, but it's pretty damn good compared to other places I've been. Owner was nice but the food (two breakfast sandwiches) and drink (ice coffee mixture and black hot coffee) was very bad. One sip of coffee and one bite of the food and it went in the garbage. I am glad I didn't listen to the naysayers! I went on a beautiful Sunday (3-31-19) at 1:00pm,busy time! Given a seat immediately on the outside deck (choice spot) and our waitress Lizzy came right over for our drink orders. I work near gator joes and its a wonderful place for a cup of coffee as well as an easy (and inexpensive) breakfast. The Monday-Thursday barista is a dream! She knew me by name by the time Id been in the store twice and has my order is ready almost as soon as I walk in the door. I came here looking for a Cuban sandwich, and what I got was a subpar sandwich at best. 16 dollars for a sandwich and a 16oz bottle of water. This place is essentially a trap for tourists coming of the cruise ships daily, so do yourself a favor and don't fall for the trap. TERRIBLE and BEYOND RUDE. I noticed a sign in the window that said "WIFI hotspot". Figured it would be the perfect place to sit and get some work done for a few hours. I sat down, opened my computer and quickly realized they charge $6 an hour to use the Internet. Okay, not a big deal as I was already here. I really didn't crave a coffee at the moment either, so I figured paying for the Internet would be a fine substitute so I didn't feel like I had to buy something to use their wifi (as I always do with Starbucks, etc). I was just about to get my credit card out to pay since you can pay right at the computer. Since I didn't go straight up to the counter to buy something to drink first, the lady came storming over and asked me very rudely "can I help you?" I said, no thanks I'm all set. She snapped back and said "well this is for customers only, if you want a free place to sit- go to the library". I said, "I am going to pay to use the Internet... Is that not enough?" She replied, like I said- this is for customers only. So just because I really didn't want a hot coffee after going for a 4 mile walk on a 90 degree day, paying for the Internet is not being a customer??!! I couldn't believe how incredibly rude this girl was- I will never ever go there again, and I would never recommend it to anyone that wants to be treated with respect to go in there either. I will gladly go to Starbucks right down the street, get a cold refreshing drink and use their FREE wifi. Just figured since it was a little closer and a place I hadn't heard of, I would give it a shot!
