How they kept me going…read more.. For a brief moment I enjoyed joining a 5K and 10K walks/runs and with that I had no idea what type of shoes is for me as many recommend what is the best somehow it jut never really worked for me though the stability and comfort is what many brands to encourage they have my feet just says differently. There are moments when packet pick ups was here at the Running Room and with that I always somehow never leave without purchasing something as they just have so many items besides shoes and socks and the perfect location on Kapahulu with free parking does make it an easy place to shop as well and on this sad to hear of its closure did take me by surprise so I just had to pay them a visit and I guess many have known about it as basically majority of their inventory has already been sold. Luckily for my larger sized feet there was my size left though the color situation was sparse understandably I did find one that looked promising and decided to get my very first pair of Hoka. I haven't treated myself to a brand new shoe in years so it felt like a cloud but being cautious since my legs hurt the next day. Not exactly sure when their last will be but glad to have given them one final visit and hope that the future will grand for this part of Kapahulu. Thank you!

If you have a car (or rented a car), John at Go Bananas will help you strap kayaks you rent to your…read morecar. You can drive around the island and launch where you feel comfortable kayaking. John is most knowledgeable all things about kayaks, including where to kayak and how to be safe. Don't shy away from asking him to help you understand how to be safe and get to where you want to be. John at Go Bananas kayak rental strapped a long kayak with a skeg to my car. I drove off his parking lot, and arrived at the He'eia Kea Boat Harbor. On a windy and rainy day in November I rented a long kayak with a skeg, and John showed me how to strap it to the car I was driving. I drove to He'eia Kea Boat Harbor, and launched off the Kaneohe Canoe Club, towards where I thought the sunken sandbar at Kaneohe Bay would be found. For my entire trip inching forward in that direction I was alone in the foreboding ocean, or rather they bay. But from my low vantage points, it looked as if I were in the middle of the deep ocean with breaking waves under me and dark clouds above me. John told me to aim for Kapapa Island, and he was right. Because as far as I could tell from my kayak it was just dark water all around me, except for that tiny speck of an island. All other boats I saw and thought to be tourist boats anchored at the sandbar all turned out to be decoys - they were docked so closed to shore in retrospect. Many a times I thought I'd reached the sandbar only to find empty boats in dark and deep water. Many more times I thought of turning back - it could be frightening being out there alone, even if I was prepared with all available safety devices. But I kept going. Then I sensed a change in water color. Shortly the sun poked its head out of the cloud. And magic happened. The sea all around me turned turquoise as soon as sunrays touched them, revealing that I was mere inches above sand now. I soon found a lone stand-up paddler lying supine on his board, drinking beer. I also ran into a birthday party dinning around a table half-submerged in water. Then Captain Bruce's boat showed up, dumping lots of merrymakers onto the sandbar. Now that I know the place, I would have no issues coming back again and finding it, next time. In some of the videos you will find dark clouds raining on entire towns, while I filmed the shore from the sandbar. That gives you a sense of how far the sandbar is from shore.

I've rented kayaks from other places on the island but wanted to check out Go Banana since they've been around for so long- plus they were 10 minutes away from me. After renting a tandem kayak, John helped walk me through the install on my car, as well as how to attach all the gear- paddles, seats, etc. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful, he answered all the questions one could have- I hadn't kayaked in 10 years! The equipment was good quality and held up through the storm we ended up going through (whoops) and we were able to return it that afternoon. Great hours, great prices (really, reasonably priced rental I've seen) and great service. I'd call ahead if you're renting on a long weekend.

This store focuses on baseball equipment and apparel, including shoes, but also has a full indoor area for batting and pitching practice. They have a few dedicated stalls right outside up the ramp, ring bell to be let in. They have jerseys, cleats, gloves, belts, training gear, bats, balls, and anything else you could need. If they don't have the exact thing in stock, they can order it. The associate Ella working that day was very friendly and immediately helpful to find what I needed. I purchased shoes and a belt; they had just the sizes I needed and she was patient to help me find just the right things. I thought their prices were reasonable, plus it's great to support a local business over ordering online and potentially not getting what you need on time. I'd love to come back and check out the cages sometime soon. If you're a baseball fan or need equipment for school or community leagues, this is a great spot!

But there's more! there are batting cages that you can rent or have some hitting time. We usually come here for the boy to hit with Coach Jamie Ahu. Yeah, that Jamie Ahu from UH time. He has three teenage boys that are awesome baseball players. Anyway, the boy practices his hitting with Coach Jamie and most of the time, I am watching him hit. It gets really noisy in the batting cages. My watch tells me that it's too loud! There are screens up that would say where the ball potentially goes depending on how it is hit. It's pretty cool. Anyway, the batting cages make up a good portion of this space. The other portion is the store. The cashier is towards the back. Don't worry, they have to let you in if you are gonna buy something or even look around. I think the prices are fair. But I am not always buying pants, bats, or gloves. If you are a serious ball player, you must come here at least once to check this place out.

And we have a store here in Hawaii too--located along Ward Ave between Waimanu and Kawaiahao Street with plenty of unshaded parking. The inside is very open, clean, cool, and comfortable. Everything was quite organized and each section was spacious. The first time I came here I couldn't really understand how most of the clothes aren't even for Hawaii weather..... or Hawaii pockets.... unless you travel to many places to do winter sports and activities. Funny enough, I received a gift card for Pantagonia shortly after my first visit. Now that I need to actually buy something. I focused on the casual, running/training, ocean activity areas. Needless to say, everything was quite expensive in my opinion. The quality is there and the clothes do feel similar to other brands. Is it worth THAT much though? My co-worker says this place is like the Lululemon for outdoors. Sounds about right. Overall, this store was really nice, cool, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything really organized. It's quite niche. I guess if I need some ice climbing gear, I'll know where to go. Eventually I got a pair of shorts. Regular price is $135. Thankful for the gift card cause I'm not on THAT level...yet.

Selection was slightly bigger here if you were looking for location specific stuff (Honolulu and Hawaii merch). It's also much bigger as well. We left with 5 or 6 more shirts from here so to us, it's definitely worth checking out if you're big on location specific stuff.
