If you want good doughnuts sold by the absolute nicest human selling doughnuts in three counties, this is the place. Sophie makes this place somewhere we remember just by her genuine warmth and kindness- she is a gem. The doughnuts are good too, and they are better than average even before factoring in her excellence. Location is easy to get to in the southwest side of Petaluma, and the business has lots of free parking in their shared parking lot. Prices for the doughnuts are on par with other shops in the county, but the quality is higher than most, and definitely better overall experience than everyone else. The store itself has seen better days, with muted, sun-bleached wall art, and molded seating, but everyone I've seen just orders and runs back out to their cars or to walk back to their places. I definitely want to continue giving this location business because they embody the experience I'd love to see more of in terms of personal care. Sophie remembers almost everyone and greets most people we've seen by name. She also sneaks in extra doughnuts with a wink and is just an overall delightful person. We will definitely be back for the fresh and fluffy fritters, the perfectly crispy old fashioned buttermilk doughnuts, and especially for wonderful Sophie. read more

Its vibe is a throwback to the no-frills donut shops I grew up with- sun-faded stock photos of donuts on the walls, gentle paint colors, sturdy and comfy Formica tables, hot coffee dispensers that you fill your own cup with, and a glass case full of delicious donuts. They had cakes, raiseds, old-fashioneds, glazeds, and others. The owner is a warm and friendly woman who chatted with everyone who came in, whether a regular or a newcomer. Thank god I found this place, I met the owner and she was sooo sweet. She makes her doughnuts in small batches, they were so good. I got like half a dozen lol. Cake- The crust had a good firmness. Good consistency throughout. The dough lacked sweetness. It had to lean on the frosting for flavor. Yeast- Soft overall, with a soft crust. Mild to bland on the sweetness scale. It needed the glaze to give it some life. The moisture was adequate. Glaze was good, not too heavy, but was the only thing that made it worthwhile. Overal, I was not impressed. The old fashioned was good. Mild dough sweetness, somewhat firm crust and the glaze was a good accent. Recomended. The buttermilk was phenominal. The crust was firm, the dough was fairly consistent and the glaze was light and gentle on the tongue. The real impact, though, was the bold and wholesome buttermilk flavor; there was no subtlety- it took the center stage and combined with the glaze, crust and dough- very recommended. read more

I want to say that waaaay back when I was a kid, this was actually a little diner. The woman behind the counter is super nice, welcoming and very friendly. Odd location. You think. Your GPS is off because you are driving through a residential area and then there's a tiny shopping center tp that houses the little donut shop. Good selection. How in the world can any small business in this day and age not accept credit/debit cards? Rather than having a sign that lights up on the door that says "open" they should have a sign on the door that says "cash only" to save you and your kid the time of going in choosing your selection and then being told that they don't take cards! I can't believe I've neglected to write a review of Keny's, after more than a decade of enjoying their hospitality and outstanding doughnuts!! So ashamed of myself! I used to live across the street from Keny's, and often went over with my kids for a special treat. Sophie greets us with a smile, asks after any family members who isn't with us, and actually remembers us in spite of visiting less frequently since moving out of petaluma. I have never had better doughnuts. Anywhere. Ever. Fresh, delicious, not greasy. Extraordinary. The maple glaze tastes like MAPLE, not just a tan version of the vanilla. The chocolate glAze is chocolaty, but doesn't overpower the light doughnuts. My favorite is the buttermilk: moist, tangy, and just the right amount of light glAze. And Sophie always remembers, and starts to get one ready when she sees me walk in. This wonderful family definitely deserves your business!
