Went to Tan's donuts and got very rude service. They have been there for a really long time and I enjoyed going there. I used to go there all the time in the morning and they were so rude. They didn't even have half theirdonuts out and donut shops usually start early in the morning baking, and the guy that waited on me and took my order was so rude. I probably won't be going back there I'll pick a different donut shop. There's a plenty of donut shops in Santa Rosa to go to that aren't rude and you don't get rude service. They really should change how they speak to their customers if they want to have customers still coming in. read more

Stopped in to pick up 3.5 dozen donuts. Did the math to ensure I had enough cash but for some reason my math was "wrong". Had to settle for 3 dozen with fingers crossed some students would be absent. Once again the price didn't add up. "Is there tax?" I asked. "No, there is no tax" he said. But 17.00 x 3 is $51? So he added it up again! 17+17+17+3.5=54.50WAIT! Wait!! What's the 3. 50 for??? I like their donuts. BUT...every time we go the prices are not what is posted. I guess other people that have posted found their receipts to have added charges on them also. Just charge what you post ! Do they just charge depending on whether they like you ? Each time the charges for the same donut differ. What is going on here ? I absolutely love their French crueler. It was so light and fluffy, tasting almost like a funnel cake. I would show you a picture but it went pretty fast. Also got an apple fritter from them. Really like how crispy it is and has good flavor. My main criticism of it is not enough apple. Apple is my favorite part of an apple fritter. But I would come back and try more of their doughnuts. Prices are reasonable. It is cash only which from a sanitation standpoint in a pandemic is a drawback. But I understand that credit cards eat a lot of profit for small businesses. read more

On a recent getaway to Windsor (nice place really) I got a craving for donuts. Yelp and gps got me to this place and wow, so super fantastic! Not everything was super fantastic, but the cake crumb donuts were clearly 5 star. They were a unique proportion for a donut of that type, think a skinny full size donut, and were packed with crumbs. Packed like there was enough debris in the bottom of the donut box I couldn't see the bottom. read more

I went to Tan's this morning and ordered 4 regular doughnuts. The bill came to $5.90. I handed the man my credit card since I don't usually carry cash since the pandemic started. He brought back the receipt for me to sign and had his hand over the total. The receipt showed a total of $7.17 when I asked to see the total. I questioned the increase in price and he rudely pointed to a chart on the side of the counter, tapped it 4 times like he was annoyed, (the sign was not in front of the cash register), and he said it's on the sign. I don't think charging a fee of $1.27 is reasonable and should have been disclosed upfront. Many banks don't allow such a large fee as a percentage of the total sale. He marked up the cost from $5.90 to $6.90 and then charged another 27 cents as a credit card charge which by itself would have been reasonable. But it is dishonest to hide a large part of the total surcharge as a cost of the items, and also charge a credit fee on top of that inflated price. We will NEVER return to this Tan's Doughnuts in Montecito Shopping Center. I feel this is a dishonest business practice or questionable at best. The other Tan's Doughnuts on Forth Street doesn't charge this fee and they are much friendlier and appreciate your business. Check your total bill if if you charge your purchase at Montecito Tan's Doughnuts! Better to pay cash. read more

Every Sunday in my childhood consisted of Tans infamous pink box. Filled to the brim with maple bars, chocolate eclairs, sprinkles, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters etc. Tans has the best donuts. Seriously. I have been in a pinch before and have strayed to other donut homes, but all have fallen far below par when compared to Tans. I know what I'm getting when I get donuts here. They are consistent and delicious beyond all compare. The best part about Tans is that their customer service is even sweeter than their sugar glazed donut. This place was my favorite when I was a kid, and it remains to be to this day. I love you Tans! read more

Ok short and sweet. I shop at Olivers when I am over at Montecito and I always looked - but never went intoTan's Donuts. Today my usual Donut Shop was swamped - Donut Cafe on Mission. So in I went and I am glad that I did - everything looked great so I had to choose between a Jelly Donut or Apple Fritter opting to feed my Jelly Donut Jones. The Donut was excellent with a wonderful Jelly filling. Probably one the better Jelly donuts out there. So next time I am going to try the Apple Fritter it looked awesome!! read more

Man, the crullers here are good. Well, everything I've tried so far is pretty good, but particularly the crullers with frosting. Most little donut places seem to get crullers wrong, either too heavy or too waxy, but they nail it here. Also a donut and coffee is only like $1.60 or so. Your move Starbucks. Just one Brotip, they list their hours as closing at 1 most days, but from what I've seen it's really more like noon, or whenever business slows down/the donuts are sold out. So if you show up past, say, 11:30 or so you may be denied the deliciousness :( read more
