So I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE the crab dip and steak bites at Kelly's...and although I haven't been in about a year, and I usually would go to Colley Ave or Kempsville road locations, I was in this area and figured "it's a chain restaurant, how different could it be?" Boy, was I WRONG! First of all, I sat at the bar for 15 minutes watching a manager (at the register) and MULTIPLE servers walking around me while I could see my 'to-go' order sitting on the side; and not ONE server asked if I'd been helped or even told the manager that I was sitting there...(although I was of a different ethnicity of the general population there, so I figured it would continue) when I got my order, I really was in a hurry and I left, without looking at it...BIG mistake! My steak bites were HUGE (I was used to smaller pieces and more of them, not 6 'mini-steaks' sitting on pita corners making them soggy) my steak was supposed to be medium and it was well done, dry, and chewy...it had some 'heat' on it but no flavor... Then my crab dip had multiple spots where it wasn't even blended completely and I could see the heavy cream in clumps, and the container wasn't even filled...to pay relatively $22 for 2 appetizers AND they were below sub-par, I DEFINITELY won't return to this location... read more

Service was horribly slow, place was nearly deserted but we seldom saw our waitress. We had two it seemed, not sure who was primary. Never were asked how things were. At one point when we were finished I saw her go outside, smoke break??? We just sat and waited for her to finish up and come back in. Never coming here again. I would have given 0 stars if possible based on service. read more

If I could give lower then a 1 Star I would. Food was terrible. Not sure how you can mess up burgers and fries, but they managed to screw up every single item we ordered. Food was cold and what wasn't cold was burned. We returned almost all of the food but two burgers which we ate. When we tried to just pay for the 2 burgers they wanted us to pay almost the entire bill which we did not eat. Tried speaking to the manager but she was rude. Finally someone who said he was the manager but was off came and helped us and fixed our bill. Just terrible.... read more

First time ever leaving a bad review. It was the worst food I ever had!! How do you mess up a burger? I would give negative stars if I could. I could not even even eat and our entire table returned our food. Do not go there for food you will be disappointed! They serve old food and then tell you "it's supposed to taste like that". Never again! read more

I've been coming here for years and I always have great service and food! It's a fun place to come with friends and relax after a long day ( the male bartenders aren't bad to look at) or come and have date night. read more

This is the worst Kelly's we have been to. The place is in need of a make over. The first seat we were going to be sat at the smell was overwhelming, the host apologized and moved us. The smell of stale smoke was disgusting & our waitress had on to strong of perfume. AND we still ordered, but after finding mold in my water glass that was it. We cancelled our order & walked out. read more

I almost gave it three stars - mostly because there were worse places I gave 2 stars to. Our waitress was nice but not good. The food, blehhh. Their "signature burgers" were just ever slightly better than McD's. Thin pieces of meat advertised as half a pound - three wouldn't make half a pound! Very disappointing food. The beer on tap was limited but cheap, which may explain some of the decent ratings here. $40 for 2 beers, a crappy burger and a soup and sandwich with a way too generous tip. I wouldn't go back. read more

Good service, simply awful food. The crab stuffed mushrooms arrived with our entree over-cooked, dry, unappealing and tasteless. At $11.99, it costs more than a burger. Didn't bother finishing it or trying to return it to the haggard server. The $15 chicken whatever with crab was a tiny portion of chicken, cooked alright, with tasteless "crab" on top that was dry and flaky. Green beans on side were cooked well, but tasteless. Potatoes were okay, but nothing special. The "hump punch" cocktail was tasty, but not worth $9.99. Never coming back to this location. read more

I must say I was highly offended today. I have been at your establishment for years and never had problems. today I had the veggie flame thrower burger. it was very hard, seemed it was over cooked. I called to tell them. I was told to take a picture to show it was over cooked. I must say I was highly offended. I have been coming here for years during my lunch. I will take my business elsewhere. I know it won't hurt business I am only 1 person. my co workers and I will not return read more

The service is always slow, and the food is so-so. The onion rings are great, so I like that. They use chicken broth for their black beans and rice, so while they have vegetarian options with the burgers, not the sides. read more

In the famous saying "there are only two things in life that are certain...death and taxes...," they missed a third item. That item is that if yelp shows that a place averages 2.5 stars, said place is probably not good. Having seen that Kelly's at Greenbrier was 2.5 stars, I should have chosen another place to eat lunch the other day...but giving them the benefit of the doubt, due to past experiences at their Colley avenue location, I went against my better judgment... Painfully slow service (although very friendly), too many flies around our table, filthy and food that wasn't worth the wait etc... One of these days, I'll learn...Yelp is pretty accurate! read more

Stopped just by chance, having just moved here we decided to try it. So glad we did good was amazing and service was on point. Can't wait to go again. read more

It's a nice little bar with pool tables that cost 1.25 per game. They have hand and cue chalk available. Nice beer on tap though the selection is limited. If this bar had an ATM or the ability to provide cash for customer desiring to play pool. I brought 8 dollars in quarters and my debit card; unfortunately, I was unable to procure more quarters for the tables. I was willing to throw away another 20-30$ on pool games. The only way to get more quarters for those cashless fools that come here is to risk public intoxication (all implications of that should be considered. Chesapeake police have a pepper spray fetish that should be taken into consideration when when being public drunk. Being drunk in public is a crime in this area. This bar is just setting people up for the police to charge them for public drunk. read more

I ordered a whiskey sour. What i expected was a drink in a whiskey glass or high ball glass. I got a large juice or some type of parfait glass filled with sour mix and ice. I assume my bourbon was in there somewhere. I was told all drinks come in the weird glass per mgt. I am at a loss that in ordering a standard classic drink, Kellys can not produce anything close to what is in every bartender's book. Oh and they were adamant that I would have to pay for it. read more

The worst of all Kellys Tavern locations in Hampton Roads. They don't make margeritas, the fries were burnt (I was told that's how the cook makes them) and they understand the concept of medium well. They have drink and food specials that the waitress told me about but I was too distracted by the dirty tables, floors and overall bad appearance of this location. I will stick to the great bridge location if I want to get a burger. read more

There's smoking indoors in a bar? That's not even legal in California (although there is many places that allow it illegally). There's a jukebox and couple of pool tables. We came here on a late Wednesday night, the kitchen closes at 12:30am and fried food till 1:30am so we ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger. The buns were soft and the medium meat was cooked with tender and juicy perfection. Thank you Lindsey and Ariel for taking care of us. read more

Ehh. Not terrible, not great. I give it two stars for the food and one for the service. My family was in town for a soccer tournament and Kelly's was close to our hotel so we thought we'd give it a try. My cousin, dad and I each ordered a burger medium rare... they all were cooked well done and were dry and flavorless. Disappointing :( I didn't try the fries but didn't hear any complaints about them. My onion rings were actually pretty good - you know how usually the onion slides out and you're left with a hollow fried thing? Well they use thick slices of onion that stay put. They were a little too greasy for my taste but oh well. All of the food here is greasy. The sauce that came with the onion rings was really good, probably the best tasting part of the meal to be honest. Like I said, one star is for the service. We asked our waiter if he knew what the weather was supposed to be like later in the week and not only did he look it up for us, he pretended to be a TV weather man and put on a pretty entertaining skit for us. read more

I've been going to Kelly's on Laskin since I was 21... Never set foot in this Kelly's until tonight. I walked back to the bar. On entry the only place to sit was the stool that had chicken tenders and napkins on the floor in front of it. This whole side of the bar needs a wipe down. Perhaps the bar back is on a smoke break. I ordered a shocktop because there was no blue moon. Glass completely water logged my bar napkin. I'm waiting to see if the bartender is going to notice and offer to replace it with a dry one. I won't hold my breath. The atmosphere is friendly and the pool tables are naturally full on a Saturday night. I'm simply here to stall for time. Otherwise, if I were here on a date, I would be more displeased. read more

The wings were a decent size. However, FLAVOR... not so much. I had to add a tin of hot sauce to make my buffalo wings "buffalo wings". The garlic cheese fries were very greasy and bland as well. And the cheese was hard a paper like.. service was ok. The waitress was nice. read more

Mediocre food at best and wait staff with attitude made for a less than satisfying experience.

Order buffalo chicken sandwich it was good but cold once it arrived at the table. Friday night karaoke was nice, order wings at the bar and they came out hot and fresh! Not a bad place! read more

The server was really nice. But very overpriced for the quality food that you receive. We received no refills on our drinks. The food was either over cooked and burnt tasty or tasteless altogether. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. read more

I am a Kelly's Fan! Their food is pretty consistent. The Greenbriar location is my favorite... All locations are not equal, had a bad experience at the Battlefield location so I would never go there again. But on a positive note the Ranch is the BEST! I love their Chicken Quesadilla and Buffalo Hot Wings. This is my go to spot when I want something good to eat. read more

I would love to write a review about the service...but there wasn't any! I am an old road dog and eat out enough. Things happen and I understand this fact. Sadly NOTHING happened? Sit at the bar and I am competing with ZERO other customers and still managed to lose? "The luck of the Irish....Curse" Bartender asked would you like a drink and I asked for water with a lemon and a menu. Got my water...Great start and that's where it went down hill. 5 minutes later...would you like a menu and I reply yes (Guess she missed it the first time) Then again she ask me, would you like a menu. Now I am at the point I am glad I don't drink cause I would of had to cut myself off for thinking I have asked for a menu 3 times... Get the menu...Yay, light at the end of this tunnel (Was impressed with the Craft burgers) but after watching her and the new guy bartender that was running late, but had the time to tell her his life story then went and saw his buddies sitting out in the dining area while I sat...This is the point I realized I have been in a restaurant at a bar with no other customers and I have lost 18 minutes of my life...waiting. I just got up and walk out. I will always wonder what the Rowdy Reuben Burger is like, but understand it is impossible to find out. I can say with the work ethics of those employees...They are a business wrecking crew. There is no way management cannot see this. Hate leaving negative reviews but I also hate wasting my time. Hope to save a stranger 20 minutes of their lives. read more

Amazing place to go for drinks and hangout with friends. Great food and lovely staff. Will definitely go again!!! (:

Grungy bar. Littered with drunk retirees yelling and hollering about nothing important. Most of the men(regulars) yelling for more beer whilst crowding around the virtual golf game. Bartender was rude and unkempt, didnt seem to know very much about the menu, but could pop the top off of a beer bottle very well. I can make better food in a microwave, blindfolded. Our first time visiting this place, we were very excited to be there. However, our first encounter with a short blonde girl was very upsetting, she never said hello, we asked for where their pool tables were and she just pointed as if we were interrupting here evening. I grew up in a bar/Resturant never have I ever made any of our patriots feel unwelcomed before they even sat down. We sat there for about 5mins with no service, my boyfriend finally went up to the bar and asked and this same short blond girl walks over and says "I got you" and points her hand over to the bar area. We had sat down by the pool tables, she said NOT THERE still just pointing her hand and not once even greeting us, at this point I was already done feeling we were treated rudely. Again we were just visiting and checking out the area. I will NOT recommend this place to any of my friends and family ever.. treat people with the same respect you want to receive. read more

The food is good pub food, the service is MEH... the waitresses seem to be focused on hit and run service. Don't really feel like they are engaged, they forgot two different orders. One they remembered after my entree ordered showed up (appetizer) and the second was a drink I ordered later, never showed up and they hardly talked to me after the initial order and they delivered it. Would of liked a more engaging service, but the trainee was given advice, the question is will she learn better service skills. Overall the place opening inside service for the first day after Virginia allowed inside restaurant service. Unlimited potential. read more

Went there for a work related thing - I made the mistake of ordering a fried fish sandwich thinking I would get something edible...WRONG. The oil the fish was fried in was clearly old and dark colored, and the sandwich was dry. I asked for some sort of sauce to go with it, but they were out of what would have paired best with it (remoulade sauce). I spoke with the waitress and was able to switch it out for a burger which was better thankfully. The service was OK (took some time to get refills), but nothing really to write home to. I would think with all the development going on in the greenbrier area that this Kelly's would follow suit - clearly not the case. If it wasn't for a work related event, I wouldn't eat here again, but since it is and is on the books for the next few months, looks like I'm sticking with the burger forever. read more

This Kelly's at Greenbrier is not what it used to be....the worst fish tacos ever, and the potatoe salad that was served to us was probably a week to a month old , the taste of fermentation on the salad , just taste old if not spoiled. Will never go back again. read more

Chesapeake is full of chain restaurants and void of fun, hip, trendy dining establishments with interesting menu items. I am learning good food in Chesapeake, Va is scarcer than water on the moon..... But I digress..... I requested a "hometown" eatery for dinner and we found ourselves at Kelly's. It was a Wednesday evening so that could explain the lack of a hostess to greet us. As we meandered further into the dark, musty depths of the restaurant, my fashion and design sense was assaulted by the worn, depressed 1980's plaid green and burgundy decor. But because I was part of a larger group I soldiered on. Do you really want to know about the food? Well. We just ordered apps to start. Our 12 year old who-eats-anything didn't want to eat the previously frozen and overly breaded Sysco chicken fingers which were served with limp celery. I ordered a salad and it was a sad, dreary affair. For 12.99 the scallop's were a 1/4 cup of bay scallops the size of mini marshmallows served on a few sprigs of romaine and an uninspired, syrupy sweet bottled dressing. Because these 2 appetizers were so dreadful we didn't order anything else. However, with 3 glasses of wine and a soda the bill came to $60 with tip. Our waitress was very nice and hopefully is looking for a new job because this place will be shut down soon. read more
