Had bugs in my salad from this location in Chesapeake.

Had bugs in my salad. I'm done with Kelly's Tavern. When I told management they told me this has been an issue for a while.

Madison, our server, was very nice. She kindly turned the music down just a touch. The chicken bite app was good and the ruben sandwich was delish. The burgers were not the best flavor/temperature and one burger was missing toppings but that was fixed. I ordered a shrimp chicken pasta but it was overly peppery and gladly we were able to return it. The battered fries were much better than the other fries in my opinion. The pool tables were fun and reasonably priced at $1.50. The whiskey sour was not that good. We didn't see the automatic added gratuity for our party over 6 and tipped on top of that so that was a whole other ordeal that we worked out. :)

Stopped in for a bite and a drink. There were a few people in the restaurant but only 1 server. We waited a little while before she made it to our table. She was nice. We placed our drink order and waited a little while longer. Happy Hour had just began at 1pm, so we ordered off that menu. We ordered the lemon pepper and garlic parmesan chicken bites. Just wanted something to hold us over til dinner. Of course we waited for our order. The bites were just OK so we decided not to order anything else. The bites were salty. The pineapple crusher was OK. My husband enjoyed his cold beer.

First time at Kelly's Tavern location. On a day out shopping, I stopped in for lunch on the outside patio. The service was excellent, and the waiter and hostess were friendly. I had the spinach dip as an appetizer; it was light, but I needed more spinach and less cottage cheese. I don't recommend getting it again, but I will try the crab dip next time. For the entree, I had the crabs, and they were excellent. There was little breading and filling; I highly recommend them. Next time, I would pick another side. The mac and cheese was not that good. But I will go back

Excellent service! Thx Abi. She recommended the Rueben sandwich. I had it with good size of onion rings. Both were served, hot and quite fast. Would love to go back and try some of their appetizers.

Tuna bits over a fresh garden salad was on point. The seasoning was lite as I asked for it....next time I will get it with a little more blackened!!! Service was great and food was delivered hot. A nice Saturday late lunch.

We needed a restaurant in the area that stays open late. We arrived around 8:30pm and snagged a booth for the four of us instantly. Our server was super friendly. He asked us if we've been there before and only one of us had. He explained the menu thoroughly. Between the 4 of us we ordered the firecracker burger with onion rings. I ordered the supreme burger no bun and a side garden salad instead of fries. Our friend ordered a chef salad and the other ordered a French dip sandwich. We ordered the appetizer fries with beer cheese. This was amazing. I must admit, I had low hopes for this restaurant coming in, mainly because of its low stars. We all were pleasantly surprised at how decent the food tasted and also the cleanliness of the restaurant. To be fair, it was late and dark. However, considering the age of the restaurant, there were no off putting odors. I would definitely come back for a late night bite!

Kelly's tavern in the greenbrier portion of Chesapeake is a great place to meet with friends for cold beers and delicious bar type food. My friend and I wanted a late diner after an afternoon of day drinking and ended up at Kelly's before walking to our hotel. We sat outside so we could enjoy a cigar and both ordered burgers and a cocktail. The service was quick and the food was delicious. I was extremely hungry so I ordered the burger that had pastrami on top! We visited on a Thursday night but Friday and Saturday nights normally have corn hole, pool, and good crowds.

I usually go to the Kelly's on Kempsville, but decided to give this Greenbrier location a chance...I was not impressed. The service was okay, but as far as the meal and drinks-- mediocre. I ordered a rum and coke and I believe I just received a coke. There was absolutely no alcohol in there, it tasted like. Same with my friend, she ordered a tequila and pineapple and felt like it was only pineapple juice. When it came to the food, the server did inform us that the kitchen was backed up a little, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't care about what they are doing. My burger was burnt on the bottom and the bun was toasted way too hard. I ordered soup as a side, but was given cold fries. Then when the soup finally came out, it was nasty as well. My friend had to wait additional time for her food because someone "stole it" so they had to recook her meal because it wasn't on the line when it was time to bring the food out. 1/10 experience.

We started with the fried cheese, which I can only describe as pure, unadulterated bliss. It's less of an appetizer and more of a spiritual experience. If you're looking for a sign to forget your diet, this is it--crispy, gooey, and likely the reason I'll be doing extra cardio until 2027. Then came the "33" pizza. I'm not entirely sure what the "33" stands for--maybe the number of minutes I spent in a silent trance while eating it? Whatever it is, it was incredible. Even the cheeseburger "slapped," according to my son, which in teenager-speak means it's better than anything I've ever cooked at home. (I'm not offended; I've had the burger, he's right.) The real kicker, though? The service. It legitimately rivals Chick-fil-A. I was half-expecting our server to hit me with a "My pleasure" and follow us home to make sure we tucked the leftovers in safely. It's rare to find a spot that handles a crowd with that kind of efficiency and genuine politeness. The Verdict Go for the pizza, stay for the cheese, and bask in the glory of people who actually seem happy to bring you ranch.

It's in the same group of buildings such as Michael's (around the corner). My visit here was on October 27, 2025. The outside view of the business is simple, but effective. They have a specials chalkboard next to the entrance. Parking wasn't an issue on this visit, but I'm sure it can fill up at busier times. My mom and I were both in the area as she wanted to go to the Michael's store here. When we came inside, it wasn't busy, as it was around 3:30 pm when we got here. We were greeted by the one who would be our server for this visit. He gave us menus to look at and asked us for our drink orders. I generally stick with water with lemon, which I did here. We were there during the time where it was still the lunch menu (though for us, it was more like dinner for us that day). When he came back with the drinks, he asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't just yet. He also asked if we had any questions about the menu and options and gave us more time to mull over the menu. When he came back, we weren't completely ready, but asked a question about the specials of the day. After that, we knew what we would get and placed our food order. My mom ordered the Meatloaf Lunch Special with mashed potatoes and spinach. I went with the Meatball Sub Lunch Special with mashed potatoes, though I don't normally do potatoes that often. After about ten minutes or so, the food came to the table. The food looked really good, and it was hot too. The bread for the Meatball Sub was very soft and easy to eat. The meatballs were huge and made for a worthy meal. The mashed potatoes with gravy was really good and fulfilling too. My mom loved the meatloaf, and their meatloaf doesn't have ketchup on it like some other places do. She loved the meatloaf, spinach, and mashed potatoes too. After we were done, he asked if we wanted any desserts. We both declined as I normally don't do them anymore. Overall, we both had an excellent experience here. The food and service were on point. The food I had that day did spike my blood sugars, but I expected that with bread and mashed potatoes. I don't make a habit of that though. They are a great local business. There are lots of food options to choose from. If you are looking for a place to eat while in this part of Chesapeake, this place is worth coming to.

We proceeded to sit and wait for 40 very long minutes for our food. This was supposed to be an "all you can eat" toppas type of situation. It made me wonder was this done by design to control the amount of food that was being served??? Idk? I will say that as I looked around this was happening to everyone not just my table. As previously mentioned I've been to this restaurant several times because the food is Always delicious and the service was 5 stars. The food was not good this time. We tried steak and eggs, Deviled eggs, French toast, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, crab cake with Hollandaise sauce and yogurt ,with berries and granola. The server didn't ask what temperature we wanted our steak. My steak was medium well and the other steak was rare. We weren't told it was over easy eggs. 1 of us would have preferred scrambled. The only thing I loved was the shrimp and grits and the yogurt and berries. I will also add that $50 was taken off the bill and they comped my drinks. This was greatly appreciated. Had this gesture been accompanied with a pleasant attitude it would have been greatly appreciated.
