We ordered a salad, some pancakes, and I got the chicken and waffles with spicy syrup, and it did not disappoint. The Carolina chicken salad was nice and crisp, exactly how a good salad should be. My chicken and waffles were the star of the meal though, the chicken was perfectly crispy and the waffle was nicely toasted with just the right amount of crunch. My only "complaint" is that I ran out of syrup, but honestly that's a me problem since I have a serious sweet tooth. Our first time at Keke's, but not our last. This is a cute breakfast/lunch spot that has pancakes, scrambles, omelets and sandwiches, depending on what you're in the mood for. My husband got the the cheese and steak sandwich. I got to build your own scramble with scrambled eggs, feta cheese, onion, bell pepper and mushrooms. My kid got the chocolate chip pancakes. All of our food came out quickly and our waiter Elias was very helpful and answered all of our questions. The prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were very nice. Hubby and I decided to try a new place after leaving the hotel from our overnight staycation. I checked Yelp for nearby brunch locations and the kee kee breakfast logo looked familiar, so we chose that one. We went in around 1230P and were told there would be a 30 min wait. We had to wave down a different server to get ours, and our server did not check on us a single time. We also did not get consistent quality between dishes. We tried Keke's for the first time yesterday, and for as long as we waited to get in, I was expecting so much more. The staff was painfully slow and seemed uninterested--getting a smile from anyone was impossible. The food service was ridiculous. Items came out one at a time on separate plates--one plate for a single piece of French toast, one small bowl for grits, one plate for eggs with bacon just tossed on top. By the time the table was full (or rather, overflowing with dishes), most of the food was already cold. Since we only ordered water, I guess our waitress decided refills weren't necessary. After we paid, she disappeared completely--we never saw her again. The worst part? We ended up with food poisoning. Considering the cooked food was already served lukewarm, I can only imagine what the temperatures were before cooking.
