Went in on a Wednesday evening, and it was surprisingly empty. I don't think I'd ever realized how much space this restaurant has inside. The layout is great and works well for groups of different sizes. The service was excellent. I wish I could remember the bartender's name. He mentioned he was new, but you never would have guessed it. He was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and took great care of the couples sitting at the bar. To share, we ordered the crab Rangoon mozzarella sticks and the cheese curds. Both were delicious and perfect for sharing. I also appreciated that the background music wasn't too loud, making it easy to have a conversation. The only downside came when the lights suddenly went out while we were eating. I jokingly asked if it was their way of signaling they were getting close to closing, but I was told the lights are on a timer that can't be adjusted. I understand some restaurants aim for a dim, moody atmosphere, but this doesn't seem like that kind of place. It got awkward pretty quickly, everyone around us started wondering if something was wrong or if we were supposed to leave. Also made me further think about the cleanliness of the restaurant, if you can't up the lights after a certain time, that's before closing time- how do you ensure the restaurant is properly cleaned at the end of each day? We were seated quickly in a spacious high-top booth, and our waitress was friendly, attentive, and patient with our large group as we took our time deciding what to order. Based on that start, we expected the entrees to be just as impressive. For half of our table, they were. Unfortunately, my son's steak was poorly seasoned and cooked to the wrong temperature. He chose not to send it back because we had already experienced significant delays. I, for example, waited far too long for my steak salad to arrive. When it finally did, it was missing nearly every ingredient except the lettuce, steak, and a single sliced cherry tomato. By the time the kitchen was remaking my salad, the rest of my family was already halfway through their meals. Our waitress continued checking on us and seemed genuinely concerned, but the issue clearly wasn't being prioritized in the kitchen. After my husband asked to speak with a manager, my salad arrived within five more minutes. The manager approached with a lengthy series of apologies but didn't really give us an opportunity to explain the situation. The most frustrating part? The salad was still missing two ingredients. When I pointed that out, he initially pushed back, insisting it wasn't possible because the chef had personally prepared it. At that point, my family had finished eating, so I packed the salad to go. Was the salad worth the wait? Surprisingly, yes. Once it was finally assembled correctly, it was very good. What still puzzles me is that the dish requiring the least amount of cooking at our table was the one that took the longest to prepare correctly. Would I return or recommend it to others? Yes, but with reservations. The food has a lot of potential, and the appetizers alone are worth trying. I came in with a group for a work event on a Saturday afternoon. The event was pre-planned so they had a large table set up and ready for us. The server was on point with drinks while we were waiting on everyone to arrive. The beer menu is huge here, but no bottled or can beers, only draft. They also have some well drinks and spirits to order. The food menu is somewhat small but they execute what the offer well. I ordered a breakfast burger with fries. It was delicious! Ordered the trio appetizer. Don't waste your time or money. Pretzel bites are really good the beer cheese sauce is edible and I liked the tortilla chips but the queso has no flavor, oven when you mix in the "hot" chorizo. The southern-fried popcorn chicken has zero flavor and the ranch dressing is watery and bland. Wife ordered the casamigos espresso martini and the bourbon raspberry lemonade fizz, she reports 2 thumbs up. Finished up with the Baked cookie, and a Cowboys win, it was fantastic. They had numerous reservations And we didn't so we ended up having to sit outside. They had a cancellation and instead of giving that table to someone else they recalled we wanted to sit inside and they came and let us know about eh cancellations we were able to move inside and still have our same waitress They have a multitude of beers to select from and specialty burgers as well. First off our Waitress Havana was outstanding... She was on top of everything and very accommodating. We had a group of 16 so she had a big task. The shrimp appetizer was great, the wings were mediocre, and the pretzels were nothing special. I ordered the New York strip, medium rare with blackened shrimp, mashed potatoes and broccolini . The shrimp were about the size of a quarter and over cooked. , my steak was cooked medium well with very little flavor. Potatoes tasted like box potatoes and I got asparagus not broccolini. Okay! So it's been way too long since my last review been slacking sorry about that a lot going on LOL. I heard today was National cheeseburger day and being the cheeseburger aficionado and connoisseur that I am I decided to seek out a burger somewhere I've never been before and ended up at City Works. After some debating I decided on City Works because I've never been there obviously and based on a couple of recommendations from Friends who's opinions I value on burgers. I ordered the Scorpion Burger with french fries for pickup, the burger had Pepper jack, pickled jalapeños, five pepper jam, arugula, vine-ripened tomato, scorpion pepper aioli. I arrived about 5 minutes early and my order was not ready yet as expected but did come out on time, the burger was a bit messy but cooked a perfectly medium rare as I requested and pretty tasty too, fries were well seasoned and yummy however a bit mushy which I know can happen in to go containers so no biggie. I'm definitely gonna have to comeback to try a different burger before I can place City Works at a number on my list so stay tuned lol, better yet go check out yourself! read more

Such a nice place to try if you're looking for yummy food and great service. We started out with the cheese curds and they were delish. They had just the right amount of cheese and batter and were crispy yet airy. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and the fries had good seasoning, the fish wasn't overly battered and had great flavor and the slaw was nice and fresh. I got the brisket biscuit and gravy. We went on a Tuesday for trivia, yes on purpose. I had the bacon burger and really liked it: messy and indulgent in all the best ways, just how a burger should be. The fries were more than decent too. You could tell they were bagged, but the seasoning they used was the real star. Everyone at our table (all six of us) loved them. The nachos looked amazing, but they didn't get eaten because, well, there was a hair in them. The server apologized right away and took it off the bill, as expected, then sent the manager over to say sorry again. He also gave us a gift card to come back, which was a nice touch. On the bright side, the chips and queso were solid. Housemade chips always get points in my book. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and plan to go back, not just because of the gift card, but because, aside from the nacho mishap, we genuinely had a good time. Yelper had Southern burger. Loved the sauce, pimento cheese and candied jalapeño peppers. Food is worth five stars. Didn't get that fifth star for service reasons. Though servers were fun and well spoken, polite, we believe our simple order was misplaced when our server was pulled in to assist behind the bar. Shouldn't take over 30 minutes at 2:30 in the afternoon with only ten percent of the tables seated to get burgers out. Ambiance for a sports bar is great. It is at the corner of an entire upscale shopping plaza and the prices reflected that. The atmosphere was very lively and chic. Although they took reservations and the place was packed, the hostess was able to seat us where we had great seats to view the game. The wait staff were attentive and very friendly. The Mac-n-cheese was made with weird giant spiraled noodles...newsflash, Mac-n-cheese doesn't need fixing. The smoked fried chicken was two thin breaded patties that were extremely dry....Meh! The smash burger tacos were the best of the 3 entrees we ordered. Pretty full and hardy. We also had queso for an appetizer. It was pretty good with very good thick, chips that were good for dipping. Dinner for three with tip $85. It just wasn't very good. Def won't go back by choice. I'm writing this review out of genuine concern for what I believe is a highly unethical practice. I've been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the food and service. But after my recent visit, I'm not sure if I'll be back. I ordered two specific dishes. They were initially made incorrectly--which I understand, mistakes happen. The staff was kind, remade them, and the second round was perfect. No complaints about the service in that regard. The issue was at checkout. To account for inventory, they rang up four dishes instead of two, then comped two of them. While I was only served and charged for two, the system still displayed the inflated total--including the two comped items--when calculating the suggested tip amounts. So when the screen offered 18%, 20%, and 22% tip options, those percentages were based on a falsely elevated total, not the amount I was actually paying. This means unless you're carefully watching, you could unknowingly tip a much larger amount than you intended. This isn't a technical glitch--it's a manipulative design that misleads customers at the point of sale. It exploits the trust people have when tipping for good service and can easily result in significant over-tipping. Frankly, it feels borderline fraudulent. Tipping should be based on what the guest actually pays--nothing more. I hope whoever oversees this system takes a hard look at this practice and corrects it immediately. It's not just misleading--it's wrong. Please be aware and look at your bills if they make a mistake on your food. I hope someone from ownership or executive leadership can reach out to me and explain this. This needs to be someone higher than the store level. read more

You're description on your site "Buttermilk breaded smoked chicken" What you left out was "chicken fried chicken" and you forgot to mention that it's two patties. That's misleading. Non the less it's an ok meal I believe it's premade and just reheated because the center was still cold. The honey sauce on the mash potatoes didn't mix well with the seasoning and artificial smoke flavor from the chicken patty. Putting the patties on top of the mashed potatoes and greens was not it for me I wish you had separated them. It made the chicken fried steak soggy on the bottom. We ate here during restaurant week and it was a big disappointment. Food is mediocre and service is slow. Which is very strange as it's obvious that the food had been cooked earlier and left to steam and get soggy. From the special menu my husband ordered chicken tortilla soup, smoked meatloaf with mashed potatoes and chocolate peanut butter dessert. His was much better than mine. My order was Caesar salad, fish and chips with fries and slaw and fried donuts for dessert. I don't fry at home so usually order fried things as a restaurant is far better equipped to do this. My salad was overdressed and gloppy. The fish had a nice crust but served at room temperature. The slaw was overpowered by the red onion and tasteless. The poor French fries had been cooked much earlier and were limp from being fried at the wrong temperature. The fried donuts were hard as a rock.
