Had this place booked marked for some time and was excited to try some items I've been eyeing. I really wanted to like this place but it fell short for my friends and I. We were so excited to try the poke nachos but when it came out it did not look like the pictures on yelp. Instead the poke was drenched in sauce to the point that you could not taste the chips or fish. The plate itself is a really good size and there is plenty of poke but they overdo it on the sauce I couldn't even eat it. I ended up fishing the poke out and taking that home and leaving the chips and sauce behind. Squid luau, I've been craving this as I always do and this definitely fell short. Lacked in flavor and the flavor that was there is sweetness. Very little chunks of squid I think I had 4 total. Staff was nice and we were seated right away. Stopped here for dinner immediately after landing in Oahu. It's a humble "hole-in-the-wall" type of establishment. The woman who took our order was very nice. I was craving Hawaiian food so I decided on Kehaus Kitchen. A friend said it was a good place to eat so I didn't think anything bad would happen. The service was personable and friendly. The food that I ordered which was the smoked meat plate was delicious with a tasty potato salad. The bad part is that they forgot to add in the poi which we paid an extra $5.95 for and discovered when we got home when we opened the Kalua pig plate. If I have to open take out packages to check if it's right then I'll just go to Youngs Fish Market which does really good accurate orders. We ordered, I know I said loudly what I wanted which was the special with the Laulau... when we got our food I didn't get my laulau. So she took my plate back and brought it out later. My other half ordered the short ribs, which took pretty much the whole time to cook, we were done eating by the time that came out. To which another man comes in and ordered smoked meat with Lomi salmon... aunty gives us HIS plate instead of the short ribs so we tell here "this isn't ours... we ordered the short ribs" she gets so confused and goes oh yeah I know..... (ummm why did you give it to us then?). Food: So I'll say out of everything we got, the poke nachos were the best. Despite the service and whatever that was probably the only good thing out of this place. NEVER get the poi. It's definitely refrigerated chunky and sour. Now I don't mind sour poi but the texture was hella nasty, and usually when you eating at a restaurant sour poi is a negative! The laulau was alright. We also ordered chicken long rice, but aunty came out and told us the cooks in the back said it tasted nasty, so we canceled that pretty fast. The Kalua pig was alright. Nothing great. Needless to say all the food was mid. Ambiance: it's a small whole in the wall restaurant, located across the only bed bath & beyond. Next to 711. Parking is easy, lots of it. The spicy ahi wasn't too spicy. My dad had the pulehu ribs, kalua pork, and haupia. The ribs were flavorful, not too sweet or salty. The kalua pork was tender and smoky. The haupia was fine. Very disappointed with the service during my recent visit to Kehau's Kitchen, which is unfortunate because I have been here many times before. Firstly, it was understaffed, with a full house and only one young lady working. We got seated and saw a QR code on the table to order but we decided not to order through the site given a hefty "convenience fee." I flagged down the lady working to order in which I pointed to everything I ordered, including the Pua'a to Da Poke Nachos. I asked for water as well and ended up having to go up to the counter to ask again after waiting a while. We received our order and it was wrong. I ordered the Pua'a to Da Poke Nachos and got Kamakaze Poke Nachos instead (which is about $3 more). I went up to the same young lady and asked if this was our order to which she offered a side of pork as a resolution which I agreed to. Everything tasted good and I will give them that. I went up to pay and there was an older lady working who I believe is Kehau. I specifically checked with her and asked her if I was only getting charged for the Pua'a to Da Poke Nachos because that is what I ordered and she said yes! To my dismay, when I checked the receipt I got charged for the Kamakaze Poke Nachos which is NOT what I ordered. I asked her very politely if she could fix this and she was incredibly resistant and pushy. In the end, the younger lady had to tell Kehau multiple times to just give me back the difference. She reached in her own purse and gave me $3. I felt bad and apologized for the inconvenience and hassle but got no response and some petty responses. The was not a problem with the money, it was a problem with the terrible customer service. I would like to pay for what I specifically ordered, not a mistake/miscommunication on the restaurant's end. The restaurant is in a little run down area, but the restaurant itself is very clean & has a great atmosphere when you enter. Right when you walk in the staff are incredibly nice & welcoming. They tended to us the whole time, answered our menu questions, kept our water filled, & really showed us an excellent time. The food was absolutely increase. The fish was authentic, fresh, and made to order. The chips for the nachos were even homemade & excellently fried to perfection. Adding the Hawaiian chili pepper water, which they make in house, right before eating a chip, was so good(the staff recommended we do that). The blend of flavors from the sauces was truly incredible & I tip my hat to the team that blended them together for this amazing dish. I didn't bust out a scale, but I trust they were correct when they said it was a pound of tuna. Had I not come straight there after the gym, I would have split 1 serving of the nachos & gotten some sides to share. I've written this review about a day after eating here & I haven't come down with any food borne ailments(proof that the fish was really good). 15/10 recommend going out of your way to eat at Kehau's Kitchen. read more

I felt hungry and wanted an early lunch before 11 and walked around Westridge Center and saw Kehau's Kitchen open. I was intrigued by the mix of Hawaiian and Mexican food. I decided to try their Hawaiian food this time around. I got the beef stew combo with pulehu chicken, lomi salmon, haupia and rice. The stew was on the watery side but I liked that it wasn't overly salty or sweet which bugs me about beef stew at other places. The lomi salmon was freshly made so I enjoyed the slight crunch of the onions. Once again that wasn't too salty either so that's a plus. The pulehu chicken was wrapped in foil which I thought was odd but it did help retain moisture and it wasn't dry. The haupia was great with good coconut flavor. Service was friendly and maybe 20 people max can sit down inside. I'm curious to try their Mexican food and a friend recommended their poke nachos after finding out I ate there. read more

I was going to order from Zippys, since Chicken Long Rice was a special today, but you can't order specials through Uber. Their normal delivery cost more too. So, I searched for Long rice on Uber and Kehau's came up. So I ordered. First, I didn't know it was ala carte meaning no rice or a side dish like salad. Second, there's hardly any chicken. The last and worse thing is that there's no taste! Taste meaning it lacked ginger ‍‍‍. There has to be the taste of ginger or it's not Hawaiian or local. Maybe the cook forgot to add some in?? Maybe the cook does not taste his food before serving it? Chef Gordon Ramsay said cooks/chefs should always taste their food. ‍Anyway, I warmed it up and added ginger plus a little shoyu for added taste. I guess Hawaiian food is not their specialty. WOW! What a tiny hidden gem. You know it's good when it is crowded with a line of people waiting for tables. For most of our visit an adorable boy hustled his way through taking orders, bagging to go orders, and checking people out. I am sure he was relieved when his mom showed up to help with the crowd. They weren't expecting to be soo busy she said. I can see why tho. They serve Hawaiian and Mexican cuisine. I got the kahlua nachos. Holy cow. The dish was bigger than my head. lol. It was $20. But could have easily fed two to three people. I took 2/3's of my plate home. My sister got the rib plate with some meat wrapped in leaves and rice. Best ribs I have had...besides the good ole' pork ribs in the states. It had great grill marks that added a crispy grilled taste. It went so well with the sauce and rice underneath. She also got wet noodles I think. They were bland and I wouldn't order those. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. It was a great experience and I would definately go back. I've been eyeing this Hawaiian restaurant for a while, but it was a bit out of the way. My boyfriend and I wanted to treat his parents to food, so this was a great time to suggest this restaurant! It's located in between Kimchee Restaurant 7 and 7-11 in the Westridge Shopping Center on Kaonohi St in Aiea. There's a huge parking lot with ample parking stalls. My boyfriend and I ordered the Kalua Pork Combo (forgot to take a picture) for ourselves to share and same order for his mom, the Lau Lau Combo for his dad, and a Kahune Poke Nachos for all of us to share. The poke nachos was really good! The chips were the thick deep fried wonton chips that many places in Hawaii used to make gau gee (deep fried dumplings). They were super crispy and had a nice crunch to them even after sitting out for 30 mins. YUM. The poke was good with a lot of sauces. I didn't think the poke was that fresh but the flavor was quite good. The kalua pork was really good as well! It had a light smokiness to it which I love in my kalua pork rather than not. The restaurant packed them really well in take out containers, so we had a lot of kalua pork to eat among the four of us. Overall, it was a good, different experience. The prices were quite high in my opinion so this would be a treat once in a while. But they do have a ton of options to choose from including Mexican foods (super random LOL) read more

Did some takeout on a weekday night and had an excellent experience. It's weird, the first time we came here a few years ago, it was excellent. We came again a year later and it was sort of a miss. But last week when we went again, they're back on track! I can see from their reviews they're doing things right. The lady at the counter was very friendly, and she gave us our takeout and my first thought was "whoa these bags are heavy!" We got home and everything we had was delicious.
