I like all types of cookies, shall, big, thin, thick, soft or crunchy. The Cookie Lady is primarily a thin and very crunchy cookie. I picked out two bags of cookies: Oatmeal Raisin ($11.50 per bag) and a bag of imperfect cookies which slightly less expensive ($8.50 per bag). The imperfect cookies were chocolate chip cookies. They are nice and crunchy, sweet and very small chocolate chips so you don't really taste them. The oatmeal cookies were thin, crunchy and sweet. I couldn't really taste the oatmeal. I liked the crunchiness and sweetness of both cookies. If you like thin and crunchy cookies, The Cookie Lady is definitely a cookie shop you will want to try.

It seems crumble was having a bad day. You're better off getting cookies from Foodland in the same shopping center.

You can also buy items in bulk. My favorite area of the store is the research and development section, to which they currently have dark chocolate covered animal crackers, yum! Please put them on the shelves permanently! When purchasing items from this store, don't forget to ask for a stamp card that earns you 1 stamp for each $5 spent = $10 off when you have 10 stamps. Instead of using yeast, this rice cake is made using a perpetual mother starter. Think sour dough bread or yogurt. Natural fermentation results in the honeycomb like structure, fermented umami notes and gentle sour taste that balances the sweetness. Even if you haven't had the rice cake here, chances are high you've eaten them. They are sold at a myriad of places most notably Chun Wah Kam. Don't believe? Go to Chinatown at 6am and watch cargo vans double park to pick up boxes of them. Excessive trivia - there was a Lin Fong Company founded in 1924 that lasted until the early 2000's on the next block. Part raw ingredient grocery store, part apothecary, part bakery. Upon their closure, the owners of New Lin Fong Bakery acquired the original recipe and continued making the authentic rice cakes. Yes, they still offer their outstanding, aromatic, crumbly lard based almond cookies and raw sugar flavored tea cookies. Unfortunately, they no longer make bao buns.
