I took my 3 grandkids for lunch. 2 of them ordered burgers which they could not finish because they fell apart the bun was a mess. Our first time visiting and really enjoyed our time. We waited for about 15 min without a reservation. The menu has such a variety for anyone which we appreciated. The service was not bad. We always make it a point to eat here at least once when we are visiting Windsor..Some of the best fresh breakfast you will ever have..The decor of the restaurantakes you feel like you're in the 50's the food makes you feel like you're on one of those fancy cooking shows and the staff is always tops for sure. Everything was phenomenal! Got a chicken fried steak and coffee cake for breakfast. It was all perfect. Potatoes could have had a LITTLE more flavor but I used them to soak up the egg yolk and it fixed that. Went on a Thursday morning so it was understandably nice and quiet. The music was calm. We sat on their patio which had overhead heaters making it the perfect temperature. And the server was friendly, attentive, and only came by when needed. Overall really awesome experience. Had breakfast here, again. I usually have pancakes, with eggs and bacon. It is all really tasty and I have to hold myself back from eating all of it at one sitting. My dining partners have had, for one, the Hillbilly Benedict, and for another, the potato pancakes. Nobody complained. Today, we ate on the patio. I have actually been coming to KC's for years but this singular experience was definitely my favorite. They have a new server, she' has exceptional customer service and very friendly. She overheard that it was my moms birthday this morning and she completely surprised us and brought out a raspberry coffee cake after our breakfast. My mom was so happy!!! Her name is Kennedy, she is great, if you happen to be in for brunch or anytime I would highly recommend her as a server. She is super friendly and accommodating to all of your needs. I love this place for a good hearty breakfast :) I ordered the French toast combo ~ it was delicious. My mom loved the heuvos locos! They have a wide range of breakfast combinations but I would say they're homemade potatoes and French toast make for the perfect brunch. Very nice patio with heaters, TVs and fans. We enjoyed our wonderful hearty breakfast on the large covered patio. Located on the square, parking is easy and the patio overlooks the green. We came with a group of six with a reservation for Sunday brunch. We were seated promptly and had a nice large booth and chairs combo. Our server was attentive and friendly. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. I had the Kinda Famous Denver Potato Cakes which are similar to hash browns and comes with two eggs any style. Since The Publican (see review) wouldn't serve us, we walked over here for our mid-afternoon snack. Friendliest and very energetic server ("Keaton") promptly seated us and brought menus and glasses of icy cold water. He came right back and took our orders for Beef Street Tacos and Fish Tacos. We sipped our Golden Gate Ciders (local product--very tasty) and enjoyed the beautiful Windsor afternoon al fresco and before we knew it Keaton served up our tacos. My 2 steak tacos were filled with meat and generous slices of avocado. The salsa and sour cream were on the side. The plate also came with a salad with a Mexican style caesar and sprinked with cotija and a bowl of chips. The hub's fish pieces in his tacos were hot and crisp buried in a really tasty cole slaw over the tortillas. The pink sauce on the side was unfortunately watery and bland. The fries were hot and there was a side ramekin of the yummy cole slaw. Keaton came by several times to check on us with more water or anything else. A professional, polite and energetic man at his job this Keaton. Thank you. BTW there are bottles of a locally produced hot sauce on the tables: Chili Gods Red Pepper Sauce. My wife and I had not been to KCs since pre-COVID. While driving north to Humboldt County, we stopped in to check it out, again. We were not disappointed. You will see the potato cakes on the menu - they are a must. I had the loaded potato cakes, with bacon, cheese, and onions. Nice a crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. And, our meals came out within 10 minutes. The staff were friendly as we remembered. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and tidy. One noteworthy event - eggs. With the current high prices on eggs (Feb. 2023) we had a $1 additional charge for eggs above the cost of the cost of the meal. I spoke with the waitress and confirmed that it is a temporary charge to cover the cost of high-priced eggs. Overall, a great dining experience. Hungry for a late lunch, we stopped in here because of the wide menu choices. Their outside seating area was nice. I had the Sassy Waitress, which was a Turkey sandwich with cheese, bacon, and avocado. It was pretty good. Onion rings were fine as well. My wife went with the veggie burger and was told it didn't have tomatoes. Well, turned out it did. In fact, it had four of them. Yikes. Food overall was fine, other than the stray tomatoes. I really enjoy this restaurant, good food and big portions. The ambiance is comfortable, if your seating inside has a old school diner feel, yet if you go outside to the heated patio it has a little upscale casual feel. I have been here a few times and each visit has pleased me and the family. Some of the favorites I have enjoyed are the BLT crab cake sandwich an their Tri Tip mountain plate. While my dog was having a surgical procedure done, my sister and I found this place (thanks YELP) and went to have breakfast. WOW! Just WOW! The friendly greeting, the great wall hangings, this is a very busy, yet efficiently run place! We happened to get to see the homecoming parade and enjoyed a great meal, a HUGE meal!! I had the loaded potato pancakes with an English muffin which I traded for raspberry strudel (cake, it's really cake, and OH is it every delightful) I've never had dessert with breakfast before, but I highly recommend the raspberry strudel, it's cake, a moist, delectable, sweet treat; I mean, you get DESSERT with breakfast!!! Yum! My sister had the french toast, and loved it. The service was eh, that's why a four star, and it annoyed me a bit that they use what looks to be cell phones to process orders; although it seemed efficient, I don't like people looking at their screens all the time; some eye contact is nice. This place is amazing. Dog friendly. Huge portions. We pass hundreds of restaurants to some to this one so that we can get our dog out of the house. With todays gas prices, that is saying a lot. Edit: it takes us 30 minutes to get here. We have driven here twice, wasting gas and almost an hour of my family's time rushing here to arrive and be sat before 11:45am, only be told they are not serving breakfast anymore even though the time on the breakfast menu is 11:45. The lunch menu is horrible. They don't have anything that they are known for on it. So twice now I have driven here and been told that I cannot order food that is good for dinner or breakfast even though I am within their time constraints. As I am typing this I am sitting in my car and it is still breakfast time but they refuse to serve it. Please enjoy being a popular restaurant but we will no longer be driving 30 minutes to frequent this establishment. We used to come here one to two times per week. It isn't much but this is how it starts. I've worked at enough restaurants to know that there's only so many loyal customers you can upset before you have to start laying off staff. read more

My Dad chose this place for lunch. I had high hopes for this place due to the yelp reviews (4 stars with over 600 reviews). First impression, they had a nice outdoor dining patio.  They offered seating immediately at the entrance. When we pointed, "can we sit over there?" The host said, "it's reserved." Hmmm, interesting....the place was empty and how did she know what table we wanted? Whatever. We sat and looked at the menu. In the meantime, the host offered to get our drinks. Someone else served our drinks to us. When we told him we ordered a 20 oz. Instead of a 12 oz. He said, "the lady who took our order must have gotten it wrong. This is what was ordered". Wow, we're telling you, it is wrong and want a bigger glass of beer, as we ordered.  The server not once apologized nor offered to correct their mistake. The point was we wanted a bigger drink and it was more cost efficient, rather than order an additional drink, etc. We went on a Friday and asked about their special, prime rib.  And this is where the ridiculousness started.  Server said, "unfortunately, we're not serving the prime rib due to the high cost of beef. We'd have to charge our customers $30+..." ok???? What??? Maybe he should have stuck to, it's not available anymore. We wanted to keep a menu in case we wanted to order more but he insisted on taking the menu. Maybe because they were busy??? No, not the case. Anyway, our food came, he got us all our condiments and never checked on us since. He had no shame to chit chat with a table in front of us the whole time. Checked in with us when we were ready for the check.  Then the check came, we paid, and as we are gathering our items, a young lady approached our table and asked if she can get some plates out of our way. I responded, sure, we are leaving. She then said, "can you pass down the plates?" Woooow!!! Are you serious??? We were literally leaving, why couldn't she have just waited 2 more minutes to have all the space she needed? This was the first time we dined at a restaurant since the beginning of the pandemic. My husband and I left upset about our whole experience. No customer service whatsoever. And the food was alright, nothing that really stood out.  Also, don't order the Mac and cheese from the kids menu. It was literally Kraft mac and cheese from a box!!! I did not expect that at all!  Just horrible, how hard is it to make it fresh?? I'd pass, not ever coming back nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This was our friends choice as it was 11:30am and more lunch than Breakfast. Seated on the patio. Very crowded. -Disneyland dinning isn't this crowded. The chairs were really tall I'm 5'4" and had to hop n scoot my chair in as if I was a child. We were given breakfast menus after about 6ish minutes we asked for lunch menus. Which were huge and heavy. Don't know why everything had to be so large. I'm expecting great quality food and serving size. I will echo this from one of my older reviews. Male servers seem to not understand good service. Austin seemed annoyed when I asked for coke and he asked Pepsi ok? I changed my drink to Dr Pepper. My guys crab cakes came out. Two almost nugget sized (like chick fil a nuggets) crab pieces among a huge bed of cabbage on a big leaf. The pulled pork had no flavor and had the texture of pate. At least throw some black pepper or salt into the spices to soak into the meat while cooking and don't rely solely on a bottle of BBQ sauce to save the dish. I salted the fries and the salt didn't stay on the fries. Also the ketchup at the table was empty leaving me just the side of BBQ sauce to dip. After my friend found a black speck in his ice it was hard to drink not knowing if I was given dirty ice as well. The table behind me had asked the same male server for an extra plate and his remark when he brought it was "I told someone to run it out to you" 1. Just apologize 2. Don't pass the blame. 3. Bring a clean plate. I had glanced back and the whole plate had grease still on it as if he had just shoved the previous food off and took it back out if they were so busy. I get having a busy day. But do not stick a server who obviously cannot handle 6 tables to do so. It leads to bad service and bad reviews. The food severely lack luster the only thing that I had flavor was my Dr. Pepper. Which when we got the bill we waited almost 10 minutes. I mentioned to my table that I was starting to feel held hostage and the host came and took care of running the payment. To which Austin came around after like 'oh someone got that for you'. For the price and quality of food and service they need to review which is going to be fixed. Bring up the service to match the price or bring down the price to match the quality and service. I've been coming here for about 3 yrs... overall the food is always delicious & wait staff is excellent & always smiling. They make sure your glass of soda, ice tea, coffee, Beer or just water is always full & making sure your food was delivered properly or if anything is needed. My only complaint is they updated the menu & deleted the Chicken Parmigiano which was my favorite dish. It was as good if not better than Nick's in Pacifica or Tony's, Original Joe's or North Beach Pizza in the City....
