Upon waiting, the hostess Emily was very apologetic about the wait and assured us about when we will be seated she was very attentive to her guests and that wall in seeing having to wait! The waiter EJ, was very enthusiastic about what we ordered like it wasn't just another order seeing in his facial expression that we were making the right choose. I truly recommend this place. read more

Katz's has to be one of the most satisfying late night munching spots as it combines the homemade food quality of a local diner with the scalability of a large 24-7 joint like an iHOP. The menu is on point and in fact, so vast that it's difficult to decide whether to choose from their signature sandwiches or their New York specials or my favorite category -- their delicious breakfast menu! Everything is kosher here so we've tried quite the variety of items. The footlong hotdog is decent, the Philly cheesesteak is solid, the French Dip reigns supreme among sandwiches, and the Corned Beef hash is easily the show stealer, particularly when paired with challah toast and scrambled eggs. The appetizer menu is pricey, therefore deeming their average $10 chicken tenders a rather underwhelming value. Portions are generally great, making the prices generally worthwhile too. Ambience is lively but as with all popular spots, service can lack at times of high volume, which could occur even late nights during the week. In fact, I've noticed some sort of chaos going on from time to time at the front with waiting patrons condemning the host of not managing the waitlist in an orderly way. Regardless of who is actually right, customer service 101 dictates that the customer is right, thus making the most recent outburst from one of their hosts completely unacceptable; the guy was literally yelling at his customers and acting entitled to his own ways of directing the waitlist. That demeanor was making patrons in the waiting area rather uncomfortable and that's just not an optimal way to initiate a customer's night at an otherwise great spot. read more

My husband and I come here a lot. Food is ALWAYS good never disappoints. Service can be slow sometimes, but they get really busy especially on weekends so its understandable. My favorite would have to be the Patty Melt I always ask for avocado to put on my sandwich its soooo good! read more

I used to love Katz but my last visit was disappointing. I did not even get a chance to order food as they no longer offer menus except a drink menu and a bar code to scan. Due to medical issues my husband cannot use the phone to see the menu choices. When I was at the same location just nine days prior with my daughter and grand kids we were given full menus. For the hostess to tell me due to Covid they did not offer menus expect for the app was not right. I have visited this restaurant several times during "COVID" and this was the first time I never received a menu in hand. We are all not millenials or gen Z and should be treated with more respect. read more

Katz is AMMMMAAAAAZZZING!!! Mansoon was my server and he was great! I had a few issues with my order and he corrected the situation IMMEDIATELY! Chris, the graveyard manager is soooooo nice and accommodating. I used to work in the service industry and i am glad that there are still people that take pride in their work and care about customer service. Those 2 are definitely keepers. Thank you Chris and Mansoon. You guys rock! read more

What's better than bomb diner food? 24hour availability. What's better than dessert? Rich dessert. What's the best way to end your drunken stupor on Westheimer? No not a tattoo, Katz's Diner. Period point blank. Come if you want great service that is only matched by their food. read more

Bonnie was amazing. She was so nice, attentive, and simply a great waitress. It was our first time to this location and we thoroughly enjoyed it because of her! Definitely will be coming back for sure!! read more

The new breakfast menu no longer suits our preferences. Lunch/dinner menu might work out though. Remains to be seen. We've been dining here for maybe 25-30 years or so. But for breakfast we're going back to Larry and Ziggy's. read more

Ordered the Ruben sandwich, not the biggest one just the regular sized one. It was after midnight and the were pretty busy. The sandwich was cold but that was ok. It's just average in flavor. I was hoping for more of an experience for the price. Not a good value, but what can you get late at night. I don't recommend as the value is not there. read more

I was a huge fan of Katz breakfast. However, they did away with The Broadway Breakfast this year, which was the only deal of value on the menu: Pick five small breakfast items for $8.99. A nice reward for getting up early and going to your favorite breakfast spot in the neighborhood and perfect for someone, like me, with a small appetite and a love for smaller plates. Since they got rid of it, I haven't gone back. There is another place In the area that offers a similiar breakfast deal like this where the food is alittle less good but that is who gets my breakfast money. read more

The food was bland it suck butt it made me feel like I was on crack I'd carry it to the new house and I have a bad day and I have a lot of work to do and I don't feel like I'm gonna to this place again read more

First time ever and it was amazing. The atmosphere was fantastic and perfect if you want some houston culture! Definitely gonna come back here! The service wasn't all that great, hence the four stars, but the food was insanely good. Not only did they have a wide variety of sandwiches but the one I had was amazing. I had the Monte Kristo which was wayyy better than anticipated. The fried pickles were to die for. Extremely good choice, I plan to come back here with family from out of town! Also its open 24/7 so thats a plus read more

Katz is a amazing place with great food and service and are waiter April is very customer friendly and nice and never let my beverage be empty and enjoy my meal here very satisfied will be coming back very soon read more

Very cool restaurant/diner vibe with friendly and helpful waiters (especially loved Sal). I do think the salads are overpriced for what you get, but the loaded potato chips are TO DIE FOR. Honestly would eat those as my entree. read more

I must have been drunk all through college because the food now as an adult is terrible. My family and I came here after attending a football game and the only thing that was edible were my children's pancakes. I had a bagel and lox sandwich and it was terrible. Like how do you mess up something that comes pre made. They took one of my faves and just made it nasty. My sister had a hot dog and she also was very disappointed in its taste. I will not be returning for any future meals sober or drunk. read more

I love katz!!!! I go often and I love the atmosphere and the extensive menu options. The food is good everytime I go. I also love that it's 24/7, I would highly recommend this place! read more

So it's 6 am in the morning, and I run to Katz for breakfast. I walk in and a cleaning lady has this vacuum strapped to her back and is sweeping on the lower level. I hope they will put me on the upper level, but no. My entire breakfast is spent to the deafening sound on this industrial vacuum and chairs scooting around. Horrible. read more

Gabriel was a super sweet and good waiter. We stopped for a late night treat and he was happy as a clam the entire time. Will definitely come back. :) read more

I love steak and meat! This restaurant has a huge menu of delicious options. Morgan was our waiter and he was very helpful in assisting us in deciding on our order as well as recommending a dessert. He did a great job and the food was on point. Pro tip pancakes as an appetizer. read more

The fried chicken is very good and it comes with super nice gravy. They put quite a bit of extra salt and pepper on top and it tasted like some lime as well. No wait and everybody is very friendly. read more

No stars does not seem to be an option. I visited this supposed Houston institutions yesterday. I realized the visit would be difficult for me because of dietary restrictions. I don't eat bread, high carbs or foods high in sugar to help me control my blood sugar. I found to my delight they offered breakfast all day. The waitress was polite if slow at the lunch rush and the decor of the building was wonderful. However, the sides on offer are limited at best. Unfortunately when I wanted to leave both the bread and potato pancake off my plate the management decided it was too expensive or too much trouble to offer sliced tomatoes (as requested). If you have any dietary restrictions or health issues I highly suggest you pass on this place. Also, if you support establishments that still care about customer service be sure to find somewhere else to eat. I will not be returning. read more

Arguably the best bottomless cup of drip coffee anyone could get at 3 A.M. their sugar is high grade as well. I once asked the server Alexis, who was dishing out some world class hospitality to me that night, if I could get some more sugar and she brought me enough to give me type 2. No. Type 3. Type 3 diabetes. If anyone's worth tipping its her. Unfortunately I can't say the same about all of the servers. One for instance, I think her name was Lisa, took about a half hour to refill my coffee, and another hour just to get me the check. What the heck Lisa? Overall, great place, great food, great people ;) read more

My friend took me here one night. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs . it came with garlic bread aswell. The meal was alright and flavorful. I had a margarita and it was pretty strong which was good. However, i did ask the hostess about allergens in my meal as i cannot costume eggs. She informed m that she wasn't sure and would ask the kitchen. When she came with my friends appetizer and our drinks she never mentioned and i had to ask her if she found out. I think that should of been important to get the information to me right away and not forget. read more

If you're hungry for a Rueben or a meatball sub, this is a good place for it. I was pleasantly surprised by the Mexican martini - a great not-too-sweet substitute for a margarita. I visited Katz for a reveal of their new decor and am just curious to visit again. read more

The staff was very nice and responsive, the place settings and atmosphere is cool. But, the maza ball soup was salty and the maza balls were dry. The potato latkes were oily and felt a bit industrial, not quite the Jewish way of making them. The pickles were good though. The 'fresh squeezed' orange juice doesn't feel like it is fresh squeezed. Perhaps other dishes are better or perhaps it's just my taste.. I saw other people enjoying :-) read more

My husband and I began frequenting Katz's for breakfast on the weekends. The food was good, and we had a favorite server, Shon, who took great care of all his tables. The last few times we went, we found that there send to have been some turnover in wait staff -which happens. We have since found that the food quality seems to have diminished. The food is ok (if your order is right) but nothing special. I don't know if this also pertains to the other food, but we do not eat breakfast here anymore. read more

Not impressed, slow service at the bar, food was just ok. I guess I expected more.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. My family & I ordered food on GrubHub, paid for it & went to go pick it up. When my husband arrived to get the order the staff was very rude & told us that because it was Christmas they were not filling orders with GrubHub. They did NOT offer to fill the order or offer any sort of compromise for our situation. So, I called the "Director of Operations", Eric, who repeatedly hung up on me, and stated "I don't have time for unsatisfied customers", while my husband stood waiting for our food we paid for. This Eric person lacks all professionalism and judging by his attitude and behavior, Katz's hires teenage boys to "leadership" positions and encourages and allows them to represent their company in the most disappointing and disgusting manner, and on Christmas Day of all days. Worst experience of my life. Don't waste your time or money. If zero stars was an option, even that would be more than this establishment deserves. read more

Just walked out. We were sat up stairs where a server was visibly working alone and ha snore tables than he can handle. We sat for a while then he hostess took our drink order, food order, and brought us water. We waited another 30 minutes only to receive an order of fried pickles meant for another table. At this point I ask a staff member to speak to the manager who still hasn't come by 10 minutes later. I understand being understaffed but after a half an hour with just water and an incorrect appetizer what's the point? read more

Not my cup of tea. It's definitely for a particular palate. I won't be back. Not sure if the waiter was intimidated but even to get a cup of coffee took 30 minutes kid you not. It wasn't even a packed house. It's not a greasy spoon and don't go looking to pig out, literally. read more

Have been a Katz customer for over 20 years but sadly will not be one in the future. Food quality is simply not what it was in the past, if this is a Covid thing or not remains to be seen.
