Weird combo but whatever ..... parked in the back which looked shady and dirty with debris from the restaurant and bar outside of the back door which you can use . Almost left because it looked dirty but keep going . Sat down right away. There was a guy playing a guitar and singing . Food came out quickly within 10-15 mins . Good size portions . The decor and cuisine is Napales inspired. I got the Butter Garlic Shrimp and asked if there are different spice levels and he said no. I can handle a higher than average spice level but this was right at the edge of too hot. Tastewise, it was good, with the contrasting flavors actually complimenting each other. I walked into this restaurant coz I love momos. I must say this restaurant gives that Nepali vibes and is cozy and not too bright. I tried their jhol momos and veg thupka! Liked both the dishes and I was full after eating these two. Service was quick - did not take too long. My only worry was I believe $14 for 8 momos or for thupka could feel a little pricey. But that's what Bay Area pricing is! It is easily accessible and close to great mall and Indian grocery stores. Great place to hangout during shopping. First time trying Kathmandu with two friends and really enjoyed the experience. We came kind of late after a small business event and were recommended to try their momo (dumplings). Also our first time having Nepalese food which was delicious! Well decorated restaurant and love the vibrant colors and atmosphere. It's pretty straightforward for ordering, which we can do on the app. The host also gave us clarifications on what we saw through yelp pictures. We ordered a couple items to share, the mustang fries, chicken tandoori, Chinese bhel, pork momo and a vegetarian momo. All the dishes were unique and familiar at the same time. The tandoori chicken had about 4 decent sized pieces and well seasoned - not dry. The mustang fries were like a twist on potato wedges! Both momo fillings were good but I think I likes the pork version a bit more! And our favorite was the Chinese bhel which I think is like a crunchy noodle salad. Super good flavor and texture. Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. This is probably our go to Nepali restaurant in the South Bay Area. The owners are always around, they're so nice and the overall service is good. We usually get: Buffalo Chilly - delicious crispy buffalo meat in onions and bell pepper sauce. 10/10 Steamed chicken momo - the momo is more spiced than other places but the flavor is delish. Chicken fried rice for the kids without any spices or pepper - the kids seem to love it. The portion is quite big Goat Sekuwa Set - absolutely our fav set. Comes with grilled goat meat, lemon, beaten rice, peanuts and beaten rice. Meat is cooked perfectly. I love the quirky ethnic decor. Definitely recommend it read more

This place is POPPING. Very lively and pretty busy. Definitely a fun atmosphere and this was an hour or so before closing and the customers just came endlessly pouring in. Luckily we were seated immediately though it took some time for our food to come out, but it's understandable given the crowds. This restaurant is also decorated from ceiling to floor with cultural decorations, pictures, knick knacks, little statues, etc. So much to look at. We got the: 1) Dal Bhat Power 24 Hour :) -Yes, it had a smiley face on the ordering menu, I HAD to get it and the name just elicited so much mystique that my curious adventurous mind had to order it. -Apparently, it's a popular Nepali saying, praising the 24 Hour Power you can get from a meal of lentil soup (dal) and rice (bhat). -It's literally lentil soup and rice, but it was a great filler for everything else that we got during our meal. -I love lentil soup and it was a hearty serving that had a great mix of seasoning and spices. 2) Goat Sekuwa: -Goat really isn't served at a lot of restaurants so seeing this protein being offered, we had to get it. -It's bone in goat BBQ served with dry rice, peanuts, sliced cucumbers and carrots, and sauce. -I have NEVER had dried rice beforehand and was bewildered by this grain. Though it went great with the lentil soup from our other order and balances with the moist goat meat. -It was a bit chewier and gamier than what I'm used to, but my boyfriend really enjoyed this. -I loved the veggie curry that came with it as a side. Plenty of potatos. 3) Ranjana Galli Soda: -It's their classic Codd Marble Bottle Soda fused with black salt masala and lime. -I've seen this ALL the time on social media where the guy would slap the soda everywhere in rapid fashion and serve it to you and once I saw this I had to get it. -It's a Sprite like soda with masala spice to it. Refreshing and unique, I'd get it again. 4) Buff Momo Kothey (extra spicy): -It's a half steamed and half fried dumpling. Crispy bottom and super flavorful. Very juicy meat on the inside. Slightly chewy exterior, went great with their sauce. -Momo's are a must if you're getting Nepalese food! Enough to share amongst 3 hungry adults and a great place to get Nepalese food, something I don't get a chance to eat everyday. Would definitely love to visit again. read more

Their special sauce is homemade, spicy but not too much. And the chai is so good, served unsweet so you can add your own sugar level which we very much appreciate. The food is good, I loved the momos and the jhol (though) cold it was to the point. Loved to see honey chilli potatoes in the menu. Though the potatoes could be crispier but the flavors were good. I love their Impossible Momos so I drove a little out of my way to get them. I also wanted to try a curry. I had looked at the Aalu Bodi Tama because I love potatoes and Black-eyed peas, but I was nervous about it because I read a review or saw somewhere that it was sour. The server said it wasn't very sour. Thankfully I got that because it was really very good! It didn't taste sour at all. It had a nice earthy (in a good way) flavor due to the peas. Loaded with veggies and garbanzo beans in a well balanced broth, made it feel nutritionally wholesome. Hakka noodles is also good, light and easy on grease. While I liked the steamed momos overall, I would have preferred an even softer momo wrapper, the flavorful fillings make up for it though Kathmandu chiya was an unexpectedly highlight, the spices in the Chiya hit the right note and made for a much needed comfort beverage for the cold weather. read more

I have loved this place ever since I discovered it! I have been here multiple times, tried many dishes, yet to try many more. Went during different times evening and night mostly, the vibe is great. They always accommodated my request of 'no msg' for all dishes and I am grateful for that. I have tried the Momo chili, paneer chili, baby corn chili. All of them have the same sauce base thats spicy and full of flavor. I have loved loved the hakka noodles - thin noodles with some peppers and other veggies tossed in some sauce, tastes absolutely delicious. A lot of the food, specially the dishes I mentioned above taste quite similar to what you get in Mumbai, India. Better than many restaurants who claim they serve authentic chinese food like Mumbai! Honey chili potato again has similar taste but it's also sweeter than other dishes. All momos have good amount of filing of veggies and a little paneer, i did find the dough layer thick sometimes but nevertheless they were delicious (just not healthy ) I also tried the jhol momo and i was skeptical but loved that too. The sauce is not peanuty (i dont like peanut sauce). Cant wait to try their well known thupka dish next. Oh the staff is super nice, they wanted us to try different sauces they offer. Solid spot for Nepalese food. Everything we got was good, except the Spinach paneer. It was my second time trying paneer, but the texture and taste isn't for me. I thought it was alright. However, I liked everything else! For the momos, we picked chili and water buffalo. I was a bit hesitant about eating buffalo, but it was good and didn't taste gamey. It reminded me of beef. I highly recommend getting the chili momos because of the flavors and the veggies. It's has a sweet, savory kick and wasn't too spicy. The garlic naan was great and I loved dipping it in the tikka curry. I don't remember the name, but this fried vegetable dish was super good! It was tasty and reminded me of kaarage from Japanese restaurants. This was my second time trying Kathmandu and my friends liked their experience. Came here with my girlfriend and a buddy on a whim, my friend who's not really a fan of Curry tried the lamb curry korma and it was amazing! Even he gave it a 10/10 which I would say he never does. Went here for dinner. We ordered the chicken momo kothey, chicken jhol momo and buff momo chilli. The momos were all delicious! We also ordered the chatpate; however when they brought it to us, they said that they ran out of wai wai but tried their best to make it for us regardless. On top of that, they didn't charge us for it. I really appreciated this and thought it was outstanding customer service. Most places would have apologized and told us that they wouldn't be able to make it. Service was great, food came out fairly quickly, and the food was great! This is my 2nd visit to this place. I don't know exactly why I didn't post a review for this place. Because they deserve a review. I'd loved this place on my 1st visit too. They have a more variety and their foods taste different from other Nepali/Indian restaurants in the area, including rest of the Bay Area. When you arrive here, it may not seem like the fanciest of the places but your perception will change immediately after you have a first bite. What a vibe! So me and a coworker went for dinner. We placed a reservation, but when we got there, we were the only people in the restaurant. They have two options to order in the restaurant, one through the kiosk (which has pictures of all of the dishes which we did) and the traditional method of ordering with a physical menu. As for the food itself. It was sublime. The Chicken Momos are exceptional. The lollipop chicken was delicious. I definitely will be back to try both of these dishes and more. Cozy Kathmandu cuisine absolutely nails the Indo Chinese dishes. The Chilli chicken was fantastic - crispy, spicy and packed with flavor. Their Egg Chowmein is amazing...very authentic...not too much sauce or overwhelming...just right! Very close to the street style chowmein made in India. We also tried the extra hot butter garlic shrimp, and while it's not Indo-Chinese, it still tasted great. Chicken momos were average. Fast service. I'd never been here before, so I didn't know what to expect. When you walk in you are instantly transported to somewhere that doesn't feel like Milpitas. There's lots of art everywhere, and even a movie poster of movie/book covers that share the name "Kathmandu." I was with two friends, and it took us awhile to figure out what to order. Had a hankering for noddles & Chana Masala today so I decided upon Kathmandu as I was at the Great Mall. Delicious food! I ordered vegetarian Hakka noodles & Chana Masala, & Butter Naan. I liked the red onions in the Chana. Perfect amount of spice. Owner asked what level spice I wanted. Medium for me. Tasty vegetables in the Hakka and I added chili sauce. The owner is very friendly and provided excellent service. The chair I sat in was comfortable & well cushioned. Nice ambiance. I'll return for sure. I couldn't understand why we were the only customers at Kathmandu cuisine today. Maybe lunch on a Tuesday tends to be slow. But I hope there are lots of full tables at other times because this restaurant is wonderful and people need to know about it. Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious, and with generous portions at reasonable prices. Also, with two out of the three of us being vegetarians, we were pleased to find so many vegetarian options on the menu. I also must mention the smiley fries--you will find no better-tasting fries than these, and the presentation is delightful.
