I came here because of all the Yelp reviews. Consistently saying the same thing. Great service! Once seated I was over a beverage. (Tea, coffee, juice, water, etc) At no extra charge. Everyone was on par and worked well as a team. We could easily communicate well. I didn't feel rushed. Nor did they have hands ready for tips. Nor did they make a point of how much tip given. First time here and not sure I will be coming back. I got powder dip manicure and regular pedicure. I was not happy with how half ass job they did with my pedicure. They cut my toe and finger nails crooked and shaped it weird. They didn't remove as much cuticles on my feet and didn't do a great job with the pumice stone. The powder manicure started lifting after a week and half. Also, they charged extra $5 to remove my existing dip powder on my fingers which i think is ridiculous and never experienced before. I paid the extra charge but I will not patron this place anymore after that. I am very disappointed in the service overall. read more

I am So happy to have found this salon. My nail salon closed due to pandemic and I was a customer there for 7 years. Not only did they take my temp upon walking in, which was an awesome surprise, this salon is SUPER clean. I asked for Sonia after reading some reviews. She was awesome and took her time and did a great job on my mani and pedi. As I dried I watched them sanitize and clean where I was sitting. I was excited to come here based on the reviews. They are reasonably priced, $44 for French mani/pedi (might be more expensive than the normal price I think because they had to fix a broken nail and I chose the essie gel couture line which is understandable). My nails look a bit messy and she accidentally made my left middle finger bleed. The white isn't really even. Toes look good though. Took about an hour and a half all together. Made an appointment through messaging via yelp. I went on a Wednesday and they had a $18 mani pedi specials. Normal pricing is $23 for a mani pedi. The nail salon is located on the corner and there's some paid street parking in front but also some free side street parking. Once I entered I was greeted right away by the owner who offered me complimentary tea, water, or coffee. They had a wide selection of tea which was nice. None of the other nail salons within the two block radius provided this service. I sat in the pedicure chair first after selecting my color. They use a plastic wrap to cover the tub so it's pretty sanitary. The tools were sanitized and they used a new foot scrubber per person. Mary was my nail technician and asked whether I wanted my nails cut or filed, what shape I wanted, and had me check if I was ok with her work. The foot/leg/hand massage wasn't that great but she did a good job on my toes. She did paint on my skin a few times but cleaned it up right after. For my manicure she removed the cuticles and filed my nails to a square shape. I wish she filed the nail surface too so that it would have been a smoother application. I noticed a few bumps on multiple nails which she tried to salvage by painting another coat until I asked her to just redo a few of the nails. She was very patient but also very sleepy and yawning throughout most of the appointment. Overall, it's a really clean and friendly nail salon in bayside. read more

My sister and I were in the area yesterday for our lashes when we decided we may as well get our nails done too. I always resort to Yelp to help me find the best possible place nearby and Katherine's came up with really high ratings. We of course had to stop by and check them out for ourselves. The staff here so lovely. Like the other reviews, they also offered us tea, coffee, or water which is really rare to find these days. Although it pains me to have to give them 3 stars because they were nothing but wonderful to us, neither of us really loved our nails like we do when we go to our usual spot. There are a lot of inconsistencies with both of our nails. We both opted for the SNS POWDER mani ($30). I chose a light pink and my sister did a pink glitter, which in her case helps conceal the imperfections a bit better than mine. Although I don't look for absolute perfection while getting my nails done, I do want to be mostly satisfied being that I'm looking at it everyday. The end result isn't terrible, but it's not what I'm used to either. I guess we were both just a tad bit disappointed being that the reviews were so high. The salon itself is clean and there were a good amount of options for both gel and regular manis. Their pedicures comes out nice but I have to say the tips did not. I was upset with the end results. My nails were sore for 3 days from all the filing. (I think if they used the machine filer it wouldn't have been this sore. I specifically told them I wanted my nails slightly narrow, round corners and slightly flat on top... Nail shape came out thick and boxy. Some of my nail tip shape were really wide (if you google wide tip nails -- that's how some of my nails came out.) My in law ended up not painting her nail, paid and came out because her tips were wide. It's really clean here and they're very nice. Still a great spot even after months of closure due to Covid. They are friendly and will make you feel like family. Their cleaning protocols are above and beyond especially during this time. The business is run by a husband and wife (I'm pretty sure about that), and they are very dedicated to their customers satisfaction. Went there for my birthday treat to myself. The pedicure lasted for closed to a month!! And I got a clean and buff manicure. The girl was professional and since I was their first customer for the day, there was no wait!! The manager/owner came around 11ish and greeted everyone and make sure we were all doing okay. When I paid, he even mentioned about the special they had for their anniversary (which I missed, unfortunately). Will definitely be going back there. This was my first time going to this salon and I had a great experience at Katherine Nail & Spa. I had the last appointment of the day so I was the only customer present, which definitely made me feel secure from a COVID safety perspective. I did a regular pedicure and powder manicure, and Kelly was my technician. She did a wonderful job and was very careful and thorough. She even managed to make sure the powder manicure wasn't super thick on my nail even with 2-3 coats. I appreciate that they don't use the machine file and use a regular emery board instead for removing your old manicure. At other salons the machine file tends to hurt, and even without the machine this was the easiest experience I've had soaking and filing off my previous powder manicure. I've been coming here for over a month and they really are a wonderful salon, but after reading some negative reviews, there are things that customers need to keep in mind when coming here: - A lot of the girls speak very little English (only Spanish) so there is a language barrier. My own Caucasian boyfriend had a miscommunication with one of the nail techs. It's ok to ask for a translator if you feel your nail tech isn't understanding you. - Sonia (the owner) specializes in the advanced skills (Gel, SNS, acrylic tips) so if you want something beyond a mani/pedi, I strongly suggest booking with her. A lot of the other girls are still learning the advanced skills so it may not look "perfect." - Speak up! :) I myself have had instances in which I was not 100% happy with the work (one of the other nail techs did a rushed job on my pedicure and the previous color was still visible) and I strongly suggest letting Sonia (the owner know). At first I felt like I was being one of those annoying customers, but you are paying money and Sonia wants you to be happy. She uses the feedback to make her staff stronger. I also chipped a gel nail and she fixed it for me free of charge. Let them know if something is bothering you. I promise they're not talking about you behind your back and gossping. My daughter in law lost a $100 gift certificate I gave her for Christmas. I told them she misplaced it . They would not honor the loss- and they very well knew she had not been in to redeem it. She went to use it a week later on Her Birthday which is the owners birthday as well. So they lost my business after 10 years. I gave double the amount of tip for any transaction. I came in around 10:15am and the staff seem reluctant to take me like they didn't want to work yet. I don't get my nails done often except for when I go on vacation. I decided to get a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Everyone was very nice, but some of the technicians don't speak English very well. I requested an appt on Yelp for the same day and they got back to me right away. When I arrived it was empty. They have massage chairs for pedicures. One technician worked on my feet while another simultaneously did my nails. It was efficient, but not very comfortable. I'd also prefer to have just one technician so that I didn't have to split the tip. The gel manicure was $25 plus $5 because I wanted a design. The gentleman at the front desk said it's normally $2.50/finger. The pedicure was $15. I showed the technician the design I wanted which seemed pretty basic. It turned out ok, but not like the picture. A for effort. My only complaint is that my gel manicure is already chipping 2 days later. It's suppose to last more than a week. Kind of defeated the whole purpose. Oh well. read more

I came here without an appointment and the place was very clean and quiet. I get a french gel manicure for $30 which to me, is very reasonable b/c many places can charge $35-45. I had Jency and she was very nice and listened to what I wanted. When the nails were done, they had some bubble but I didn't notice til I got to my car and looked at it in the sunlight. I went back and they were very nice about it and quickly fixed it up with another layer of topcoat. I also spoke to Kelly, who was helping Jency look at my nails and fix them. I read the reviews before coming here and pretty much fell for the comments. When i got here it was all great, they offered me tea, water and showed me every single color they had. I asked for acrylic tips with Gel which they said was $35 - i thought its not bad considering other places are in the same range (I've been to cheaper and better) when i sat down, i didn't know i was going to be there for a whole two hours. Esther K from the review below said it all. I asked for thin nails and i came out w boxed nails and sharp corners and all uneven sizes. Its all a horrible job. They might be good for regular gel manicure cause even i do it myself at home but not gel with tips. It's all a hot mess. They never explained or told me that they don't use acrylic powder - they glue your nail MANY times and file MANY TIMES (i can't even count because it must've been 15 times). I lost patience and told the nail tech that i no longer wanted them painted and i had to go. I figured they'd charge me at least $20 because that's how much it is normally in MOST places when gel is not done - they charge me $25. I do not recommend this place for any special events or occasions and if you are going to go, plan accordingly because you'll be there all day. I've never felt so well cared for. I got a gel manicure and green tea spa pedicure and I really enjoyed their services. The staff here was so incredibly professional and they did a fantastic job on my nails. They offered water bottles/tea as soon as I was seated at the pedicure chair, they went the extra mile in making me feel comfortable and pampered, and their prices were so reasonable ($50 for both services! Pretty sure it was $25 for each). I am very pleased with Katherine's, and I am so happy to have found a neighborhood spot because I most definitely plan to come back often as a regular. read more

The place is clean. Jenny was very nice and took her time. I got the SNS dip powder. $30 plus $5 to remove my old dip powder which I wasn't told by phone when I called but it's ok. I do recommend that customers are told by phone that there is a charge to remove old nails. Some places charge and some don't. The nails are nice but not amazing. I am very crazy when it comes to my nails since I work with my hands alot and spend money on them. When I got home I noticed some things that are gonna bother me till I change them. The shapes are not all the same. Some are square some are round some a bit jagged. There's an indent in one of them straight down the whole nail. I suggest they look at the shapes more closely. They don't use the file drill machine which is fine. I know some people don't like it. They do hand file which makes the process longer but it's better for your nails. They sanitize all their tools which is nice. The vacuum system does not work to suck up all the powder while filing which is a health hazard to the employees and customers. I suggest to get it running or get another system. It is not good to breathe in all that powder. Yes one person was wearing a mask but I'm pretty sure it was not industrial grade and it does not filter out fine particles. You've been open for almost two years I think it's time. I also suggest maybe getting small clip on fans so the top coat can dry faster instead of just sitting there and waiting. Overall small improvements need to be made but nothing crazy. I'll go back and try another technician just to see if the results are the same. read more

I did a spa pedicure and gel manicure. I had to soak gel off and was getting new gel put on. They charged me $8.00 to soak off the gel even though I was getting a gel manicure.
