This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to. I took my niece and two daughters there this weekend and very sorry I did. I have been a chatham resident for several years and just had never tried that place. I am a big supporter of local businesses, but I cannot recommend this salon to anyone as it was a terrible experience. The nail painting job was horrible. Incredibly sloppy and I had to ask several times to have areas fixed, only for them to be more sloppy after fixing! Half of the fingers were a total mess. She dropped the nail polish bottle which splattered on my daughters hands and arms and I had to clean it off when we got home (white nail polish). My niece had nail polish all up under each nail that we had to scrape out with a q-tip. It was a disaster. I paid only to go home and remove all the paint and do it myself! The salon was dirty with show tunes blasting. And she told me they only take VENMO! Beware of this place. read more

I have been to many nail salons in the surrounding area, and truly lucked out when I entered Karousel and Esther's very capable hands. She fixed the broken nail on my big toe, and gave me the most amazing reflexology massage I have ever had. After my pedicure, she gave my a wonderful back massage and really worked the knots out of my back. Esther is a true gem. I encourage you to visit her, you won't regret it. Also, she used a wonderful lavender aromatherapy for my experience and wonderful heating pads for my back and neck. In addition, she had beautiful music playing which added to a relaxing and wonderful experience. Not the usual rushed experience. Thank you so much Esther! I LOVE this Nail Salon. $30 for a spa mani/pedi -- can't beat it! And you won't just get a mani/pedi, but they'll also come and massage your neck/back for a little bit! This place is clean, honest, and a fun place to go. Esther is the owner, and she's awesome. She's always chatting and laughing and having a good time. She also KNOWS most of her regular customers, too. If you go here, pay attention to that - almost every other person that walks in she knows their name. That tells me that she cares about her customers and doesn't see them as just dollar signs. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit Esther every time I get my nails done! I love this place. Esther is amazing and knows every single one of her clients' names, and she knew mine too on my second visit. She offers you tea and even microwave popcorn if you mention you're hungry! She has a great sense of humor and runs a very tight ship with her employees, who are all very good. I love having Mimi do my nails, she is very meticulous and takes very very great care to make them perfect. I go to Esther about once a month and I will always be loyal. She's awesome. Also, ask her to play the flute next time. I always get a spa pedicure and a gel polish manicure for $60, plus there is a complementary chair massage. read more

This should actually be "Karousel" Salon, not with a "C." I've been going to Karousel for about 10 years. I lived in Chatham and now Summit. It's right next to the hair salon I go to so it's a plus. Also, Esther, the owner is a hoot. She treats her patrons well and her prices are decent for the services. $13 for just a manicure (spa) $30 for a spa mani/pedi $10 for eyebrow It's clean and very relaxing. My mother comes with me when she's in town and I've taken many friends there as well. read more

I looked this up on Yelp when I needed a nail salon two weekends ago and I couldn't have been happier. Everyone was so nice and cheery the prices were very reasonable and my nails looked great. Many choices in nail color. My nails often chip off color but they did not when I went here. I got a mani/pedi and they were done with me in under and hour which for both is great. It was relaxing and just really pampering. I do suggest making an appointment on Saturdays. I did and I was seen right away but it is not the biggest salon which is great but there were about 8 stop ins in the hour that I was there. It is nice how small it is though. It's intimate and easily can get to know everyone very well. It is not only a great nail salon but an amazing Main St. place to relax and chat. read more

The owner is full of energy and greets everyone. She seems to know everyone by 1st name who enters the place. The place is small and homey instead of a typical shop with rows of nail stations. Love the mini massage for your neck and shoulders after your mani/pedi is completed. Just having this service along with the mani/pedi makes me keep coming back. read more

Chatham, you need to go to Karousel to get spruced up for the holidays!! Esther, the owner, has been a fixture on Main St. for over 20 years and she needs your support during these difficult times. She follows meticulous cleanliness protocols( always has!!), and right now she is doing private appointments. You will be completely safe, so bring your kids into town, have them grab a bite to eat and treat yourself to the best mani/pedi! The classical music in the background will add to your stress relief and her reflexology massages will make you feel wonderful. Esther has been my go to place for 20 years, and I travel over 20 minutes and pass at least 10 salons to have her care for me. It is worth it!!! You have a treasure in town, go visit!! read more

One of the worst manicure/pedicures ever. Went here because of the good reviews, but very disappointed. All the nail polishes are old. The place is dated. The woman who did my pedicure made the paint very goopy and was in a rush to leave. I had to tell her the color was uneven. The owner was nice and gave us a short neck massage at the end which was sweet of her; however, the mani/pedi itself was bad. Nice service but bad service. :( read more

Just moved into town from Hoboken and needed to find a new nail salon. I have been a few times already and every time I go I am pleased. The owner is very sweet and takes the time and effort to do your nails. I always feel so relaxed and comfortable. Second round of massive dose of antibiotics to kill the infection this place have me!! Just had to go to the doctor's again for the infection from the cut caused by owner herself at her shop in February. It's now several weeks and I've completed one round on augmention 875 mg 2x a day and I'm going on my second round of antibiotics to rid myself of the infection the owner caused me. She herself acknowledged the next day that she caused it and that there was definitely an infection. I work with my hands and with food for a living so I've been pretty much out of work. I'm not really going to be able to go back until the damages she's caused are finally gone. read more

Esther is the ridiculously HILARIOUS korean aunt I never had that engages you in happy excited conversation the minute the walk in the door. While the mani/pedi I got did not last even a full 4 days, I would highly recommend the salon because for the bargain price of just $30, you get not only the mani and pedi but also a full back, hand, AND foot massage! read more

I wish I could give five stars to this place. The service was great and as others mention they are very generous with the massages. The foot and hand prep was decent but the final filing, buffing and polish left a lot to be desired. My cuticles were roughly trimmed and the edges of my nails were left somewhat jagged. Finally the polish coats were way too thin. They were cracking and chipping within 24 hours. It's a shame because the service was excellent. read more

Just got back from a pedicure at Karousel. Esther greeted me as I came in and couldn't have been more attentive and sweet the whole time I was there. Lily gave a great pedicure and an unbelievably leg & foot massage. Even though I live in Morristown, this may be my new nail place! It's a little small (3 pedicure chairs), so call ahead to see if there is a wait, but otherwise a fabulous experience. read more

I went for a mani/pedi expecting an average experience, especially when I was told the price. I was extremely happy with the results. They took their time and gave me an excellent manicure and pedicure, complete with foot, hand, back, neck and head massages! They were very friendly and made me feel welcomed as a new customer. I really wanted to love this place. But, sadly, I don't. The Good: *there are 3 pedicure chairs... all with side panels so the ladies can do your nails and you don't have lean awkwardly to one side for both hands to be done. *Esther, the owner, is lovely. she wants the customers to feel taken care of. I appreciated how she asked everyone's names (and remembered them!) *a shoulder massage is given free of charge with your mani/pedi. The Not-So-Good: -my manicure came out awful. too much nail polish (it pooled at the edge of my nails) and my cuticles were left dry. -my pedicure was better than the manicure.. but 3 nails are slanted. not super noticeable but i'm aware of it. -the place is dated. I could live with that - but it also doesn't feel super clean b/c of the dated-ness. (NOTE: all utensils I saw the ladies using were sterilized.) -there are A LOT of nail polishes... but a good amount of them need to be thrown out (the color is separated.) read more

I have been to this salon consistently and loyally for 16 years. It is the most customer focused salon i have frequented. Not only do you get a state of the art, meticulous mani/pedi, but a long leg, arms, and back massage is included. I look forward to these " every 2 weeks.". Price is fair and Esther is a riot. Only issue is they are often short staffed as employees come and go. Just call ahead to gauge wait-- or go less busy weekdays. read more

I looked forever for a good nail salon around here. By good, I mean relaxing with a great massage. I finally found it. The owner, Esther, is so nice and the girls that work there are friendly and consistent no matter who you go to. They give a long, firm foot massage, Esther will massage your forehead and neck with peppermint oil, and you get a chair massage at the end all for the price of a regular pedicure. I went to this place with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for pedicures based on its Yelp reviews. We were quite happy with our experience. My nail polish stayed on for about a month after the pedicure. Esther was very friendly and treated us like family, memorizing our names and chatting with us the whole time we were there. We got nice massages after the pedicures. I made sure to tip both the pedicurists and the masseuses. It is conveniently located in central Chatham. I would happily go back there the next time I am in New Jersey visiting my in-laws. read more

It's very clean and open early in the am so you are in and out quickly. i called ahead of time to see if they could fit me in for an acrylic fill, they said yes and i made an appointment. i think it was the owner of the place who did my nails, she was very nice and the place was very clean but then instead of doing a fill on my nails she filled them down and just painted over. she said she was worried about the smell of the acrylic for the other customers.... i was very unhappy because i had called just to make sure that they could do this, im on a very tight budget and wont be able to re-do my nails for a month or so and im very worried about them breaking off. also the nail polish does not look good, she seemed to be in a hurry. its a bummer because the staff was so nice it was a great shop it was just a really shitty nail job. I came here with a friend. I know I'm the minority here, but I was far from impressed. I felt the place not only needed a make over but needed some general cleaning. Every time my friend and I were to talk, the over zealous Esther jumped in almost like avoiding us from talking. We took our daughters, too. I asked my daughter what the blue stuff was on her cuticle later that night was; turns out her manicurist didn't take off all the polish properly. And had left new polish along the edges of 4 of her fingers. My pedicure was blah. After asking the girl to please be careful as she was overly ambitious with the nail clippers, in Spanish, she proceeded to speak to me in Spanish and complain about this country and how much she didn't like it. Really? Go the ___ home! The complimentary back massage (which isn't so complimentary when now you're doling out more tip money) was a joke; had she poked me with the handle of a knife it may have been more enjoyable. Then the facial massage that Esther gave. I certainly could have done without that. I do not recall her washing her hands or putting gloves on before touching my face. She didn't ask if I was ready for the facial massage she just started smushing and squeezing. I'm a little funny about having total strangers touch my face especially knowing the hands were NOT cleansed prior. I could not wait to get out of there. I was a bit shocked at the cost of for a mani and a pedi for 2 people...$40! I work in NYC and they don't even charge those prices. Esther is very friendly (almost too creepily friendly) and kept asking "that feels good, riiight?" always egging you on for a positive response. And she makes all her workers say good bye to you in unison, like they are children. Like I said, I know I'm the minority here, but I know I won't ever go back, neither will my daughter...and did I mention my slanted big toenail when all was said and done? Horrible!!!! This place has been in a steady decline for a few months now. I really liked this place in the beginning the owner Esther was nice and gave you tea and was very attentive. Now I see she only does that for those who come on a regular basis. The girls doing the nails are not trained NONE of their licenses are displayed (I suspect they don't have them at all) they filed my nails sideways not squared, the paint chipped in 2 days. One of the expert ladies isn't there anymore which I also think speaks volumes. Save yourself from wasting the overpriced $13 manicure and go elsewhere!!!! read more

I come across this place while away for work. When I arrived - with out an appointment they took me right away. The person who greeted me never introduced herself to me which I found out it was the owner. She showed me to a pedi chair, there is where she gave me a quick neck massage. As my feet were soaking I look around. I noticed all the employees didn't look happy at all, and nor where they friendly, and did not talk to you at all - and I mean not even saying 'hello I am ....'. The employees actually look like they were a bit scared to even engaged in any conversation because the owner. The shop is very noisy, nice concept of giving you a chair massage while wait or before/after your service. But I also got the feeling that you had to tip everyone. The reason why I say this is because when I paid for my services, I gave the owner the money and say it is all set. I watched her while my nails were drying her making change, she took broke the bills down gave the girl who gave me the pedi x amount, gave the girl who gave me a quick back massage x amount, and then she pocketed the rest. When I was going to leave I wanted to get my jacket and one of the employees looked at me like I was speaking another language. So, I had to go and get it myself which they put down back in the shop. As I was walking out the door the owner prompted everyone to say good by. That was the only words they ever said to me...I felt I was just a number to them. read more

i was looking for a new salon and read the reviews for Karousel. I agree with the reviews posted! Esther is such a sweetheart...she's such a bubbly ball of energy. The pedicure I received was great! She spent a long time massaging my feel. And Esther comes over to press some pressure points on your face/head. She also added peppermint aromatherapy to my pedicure! The only thing is she doesn't do color gel manicures (OPI Axxium) so I had to go elsewhere for that. Highly recommended! read more
