My weekly spot! I have been a weekly customer for 5 years. I am treated like family. Sunny and her family are always lovely. I have never had a bad experience and never a bad service. The service is consistently excellent. Sunny is very kind and accommodating to all her customers. She runs a high quality salon. The salon uses high end products for their services. The products are very good and work in your nails, skin etc. My nails and pedicure stay strong and shiny during the week. I also get chair massage which is AMAZING!!!! Three times I had a manicure appointment booked and 3 times last minute I was told they double booked and can't give me my appointment when I really needed it for an event. I would not book here ever again knowing I may not have my appointment because you could get that call or find out when you walk in that you really don't have that appointment you thought you had. I have been here 3 times now, and it is the best pedicure I have ever had. I ask for the same tech each time (Rebecca), and she is great. I guess if you get someone else it could be different. If you go when the moms are there with their kids, it's a bit noisy, or if someone is blabbing on their cell phone, but for the most part, if you go at 3:00 then it is nice and peaceful (it is a small space). The owner is a brut, like most of the reviews say....I believe they own Kim's nails, which I stopped going to.....but I go and relax for my hour and get a great pedicure. Terrible. Looking at the reviews, I am not surprised about my first impression towards the owner. It seems everyone feels some sort of way about her. I desperately needed a manicure and I was at the UPS store just a block away. I was on a time crunch and as I turned around the corner, I stumbled upon here and I felt like it was "fate" to get my nails done here. Boy was I wrong. Let me start off by saying I'm Korean. So when I entered, I easily knew the owner and most of their employees were korean because I understood what they were saying. I was greeted, sat down and asked for a manicure. The young korean lady cut, filed and was about to take the cuticles out of my nails... UNTIL I was interrupted by the owner (I believe her name is Sunny?) and she asked or should I say.. aggressively demanded me to switch seats with someone else. She leans over to me with her fake smile and says "you don't mind that I can excuse your technician right? Someone else will do your nails" I was super annoyed. Here is the story: So basically while I was getting my nails done, a regular blonde customer came in. It seemed like she came here often as she was chit chatting with the owner. I was about 10 minutes into my manicure and I heard the owner speaking in korean to my nail lady. She basically said to switch positions and have her to do the regular blonde customer's nails and she'll find "someone else" to do mine. I heard MY lady mumble "why should I switch?" And the owner responds "switch now" Clearly she was running her business by choosing who wanted to have a better experience ..because she gave me a technician who couldn't give a proper manicure. My manicure looks so cheaply done and I'm pretty sure a 5yr old would've been able to do better. I was even more shocked when I found out their price was $15 for a simple manicure. That kind of price is in the city. Sunny, we ain't in NYC. Also I found it kind of funny how they wrote (non alcohol, organic manicure) under their description for manicure because it did not feel like that at all. The manicure was very poor quality and I'm really unhappy with it. I read one of the reviews how the owner here chooses who she is nice to. After today, I believe it. I was seated and halfway through, she basically moved me to a different technician who I believe was below than I originally had. She wanted to give the better technician to her regular customer.. so she had to inconvenience mine. All the workers here seemed miserable too.. they didn't smile. NO TV's, no music. So you hear everything the owner shouts at. This place seems like a scam. They also charge you $3 for a new color when you're choosing the color. All the "new colors" aren't new BTW because I've seen them last year so don't be fooled by their deceiving ways. Owner seems crazy. Something's off. The people here look sad and miserable. Overpriced place that can't do a decent manicure. If you can't do a decent manicure, I can't trust you with anything else. Goodbye! read more

This was my first time here. I found them off of Yelp. Com. The reviews were so positive I had to try them. I walked in without an appointment an asked if they could do my nails I needed a gel fill. The lady behind the desk was so nice and immediately said yes and offered me a chair to sit down. A man named Paul came over an he immediately inspected my nails and started my manicure. You see I had a few problems with my nails. I had been in Florida and in less then a week my filled manicure was coming loose on some nails. Paul worked meticulously on each finger, he repaired some, filed some, cut some, and eventually they all looked like a perfect set. I was then passed on to Laina she was helping Paul with my manicure. She buffed my nails, and put lotion on my hands and arms. I picked my polish from over 200 colors on the wall that were beautifully displayed by color sequence. It was so hard to choose. Once I chose, Laina polished my nails and I went under their dryer where she preceded to give me a mini massage on my neck and back. I was so very pleased with my manicure i came back the next day and my daugter's nails done. The Yelp Review was so right! The staff here is very nice. Their prices are very fair. Great local spot makes it easy to just drop in for a pedicure. One of the problems is the hit or miss street parking in downtown Summit. I have either had a good or very good experience here. Now they use either green tea or lavender supplies for your pedicure, whereas many places just take stuff out of a big jar to use as soaking salts, scrub or lotion. It is a bit on the pricey side, but overall, I think that it's worth it. My current pedicure is over 3 weeks old and still looks great. Previous one had major flaws about a week later. If I could leave 0 starts I would let me start by saying , i asked them for a full set and pedicure & Tiffany started doing my nails with "Shelac " I told her I didn't want that and I wanted french tip nails which all you have to do is put a tip on , she instead did whatever she wanted which I like to freestyle I asked her for thin nails , and short she did the opposite left them super thick & didn't even go down to my cuticle it looked like I had got my nails done a week ago . anyways when I was done and it was time to pay they charged me 120$ for these shi**** a** nails that are not worth more than 30$ tbh. I have come here multiple times and I am still wondering how most have given this place such rave reviews? I have gotten a regular mani, gel, and a few pedicures here. Each time, I have had a bubble or two in the polish which has then popped and left my pedicure looking shotty. I should start bringing my own regular polish. My gel and vinylux and both have been pretty good. My nails have taken a beating though so I have stopped and just been doing the gel. What was my favorite place (to which I would drive 30 minutes to) has beyond disappointed me. First and foremost I am not one to write reviews. Went to the salon Saturday. I Called Monday to speak to the owner and explain how a few days ago I got a gel manicure and all the nails on my right hand broke off by Friday. When i got there I was greeted by a male , not the original female who greets me and whom I spoke with on the phone. He reminded me I was 10 minutes late to which I apologized and blamed on parking (which is true). He continued to tell me that I had two options... that he could fix them but that I had to get them done anyway in two weeks. He said I had ripped them off and I stated I had to because the broken edges were poking my 1 year old child. He was very very nasty and I ended up leaving the salon and informing him I would leave a bad review. You don't argue with your client after the situation was already explained on the phone. You don't talk in another language in front of your clients. You don't make your client who spent $125.00 (irrelevant) on a pedicure and gel manicure, feel bad for coming in 10 days after they broke. He kept saying it had been almost two weeks and why didn't I come in when they broke. I don't mind if they don't want to fix them but you can say that to me on the phone prior to me having to come in and embarrass myself and their salon. Unacceptable. As a mother it isn't easy to escape for an hour or two to get some relaxation time which is why I wasn't able to get to their salon within the 7 days that it took the nails to break off. I'm done. I will no longer go here even though it is my favorite place for a pedicure. Customer service is key. read more

Eh, I hate leaving bad reviews but I feel like this must be said. This place is just no good. I've been here 3 times. The first 2 times I was brought by a friend who likes this place for some reason (I think its just close and shes lazy) whatever.The third time was because someone had given me a gift certificate and I didn't want to just throw it away (although I waited almost a year to use it) The first time I went in I asked for a regular mani pedi. The woman was so rude and repeatedly asked why I wouldn't get the gels!!? I mean, she wouldn't let it go. It made me super uncomfortable. She was obviously annoyed that I wouldn't give in and was extremely rough with me. The second time the same friend begged me to go with her. I had a different girl and the job she did was mediocre at best. Today was my third and final visit. I had a gift certificate that someone gave me almost a year ago. (I had no desire to go back to this place) I figured why not. This time I decided to get the gels. Horrible job. didn't bother to soak my hands or soften my cuticles. She rushed the entire thing. I had to keep pointing out horrible bumps and sloppiness. She got very irritated when I asked her to fix some mistakes she made. After it was all said and done I was left with a very unfinished look to my nails. The polish is dull and isn't even along the base. needless to say, I will not be going back. I have gone to Joinus for over a year and have been happy with the gel manicures I have received. Don't get me wrong, I think they do a very good job here but there is enormous competition in this area. So when my manicurist scoffed at the 15% tip I gave her and another time told me that I gave her too little I decided it was time to leave. It is possible I was being a little light on the tip (I have now moved that up to 20%) but her disdain while counting her tip money told me it was time to move on. read more

I'm officially done with this nail salon. I have never had a problem with any of the women doing my nails at Join Us, but I ran into an issue once where I was waiting on the bench in the back for a pedicure (the owner said it would be 15 minutes). 20 minutes go by and a man walks in asking for a pedicure (he didn't have an appt either) and she seated him in a pedicure chair right away. Then last weekend I went in for a 9am appt for pedicure (no polish) and gel removal. 10 minutes after my appointment time, I was finally having my pedicure started. I didn't want any polish added to my nails after they took the gel off, but I did want her to cut my nails and file them...so that's what the manicurist did. When it came time to pay, I was charged $42. The pedi was $25, so that means it was $17 to remove my gel nail polish and cut and file my nails. What a ripoff. I knew she incorrectly charged me and I pointed it out to her, but she didn't offer a refund and I was in a huge rush to go pick up my MIL and get to a bridal shower in south jersey. I was pretty livid considering how much business I have given them and I'm glad I won't be returning. read more

I am so dissatisfied with my gel manicure I got here. The person that did my nails was angry that my previous gel nail polish was taking long to come of. So that's already was a bad start, she filed down so hard on my nails and now they are paper thin. I got an accent nail done and the glitter polish is bumpy, which she noticed and still didn't do anything to fix it. In the end, my nails were horrible and they hurt. I've been to this place twice and both times they did an awful job on my nails. First, they are more expensive than an average place. I get gels and a pink/white fill in usually costs me $50.00 and there it was$60.00. But, the price wouldnt be so bad if they did a nice job. The first time the gel layer was just too thin and it started peeling and kind of cracking. I figured that maybe it was just a fluke since the reviews were so good. So, I went again and this time, the gels started lifting after just a week and a half! I've been getting gel manicures for at least 5 years now and I've been all over the state, ridgewood, Bloomfield, fair lawn, you name it, and I've never gotten such a bad gel job. Numerous pedicure chairs with massage as well as manicure stations. The entire salon is very clean and you can see the tools being sterilized. Price is also very competitive ($30 for a mani/pedi.) The owner (or the woman who seems to be running the show) is lovely and very accommodating. While I was there, a little girl came in with her mom to get her nails done for her birthday and the owner didn't charge and said it was her treat. Very good customer service! This isn't my usual nail salon but it looked nice so I thought I'd give it a try. While the atmosphere was lovely and everyone was very friendly, my gel manicure left much to be desired. First, it was $45 ($10 more than my usual salon). Second, the gel started peeling after just 5 days. Every other time I've gotten a gel manicure it's lasted at least 2 weeks, sometimes longer.
