Guava Almond Tea Cookie - also tasted like none of those were part of the ingredients and was rather rigid and chewy. S'mores Shake - tasted like nothing but coconut. Nothing was necessarily "bad" per se, but nothing tasted like what their descriptions prepared your taste buds for. Everything looked much better than it ended up being. And for sweets, nothing was very sweet at all. This is also one of the more expensive vegan places I've been to, which just added to the overall disappointment. First time visiting this cafe with Guy. It's cute, but not super impressive. I felt like the cashier girl was rushing me. There was no one behind me in line. I ordered the matcha latte with almond milk which was a good refresher drink in this hot & humid Florida climate. Their chai shortbread cookie sandwich was okay--the middle was more of a thick sugary frosting instead of a cream. Their strawberry vanilla bean macaron would have been better if there was less strawberry jam in the middle. The strawberry jam was too sweet and overpowering, but the texture of the macaron was A+, fluffy in the middle like a cloud. I've been a regular at Karma Cream for like seven years now. I used to go to the older location as well. Karma Cream is awesome because they painstakingly go over their ingredients to ensure they are ethical, non-artificial, and when possible, local. They always use the best quality milk brands available for their coffee and espresso drinks. I like it a lot too because everyone who works there is cool/friendly. It's also a good place to hang out socially. My favorites are the half-sweetened lavendar latte with oat milk and anything that involves cake (cupcakes, etc.) or the cookie sandwiches. You should also try the olive oil cake- it sounds weird, but I assure you it does not taste overwhelmingly of olive oil- it just means it's a moist cake! Ive got to say, very disappointed in the experience with this place today. Words cannot explain the amount of discontent that I felt this morning. I think disgusted would be to light of a word for me to use. Kyle, the "owner" was very unpleasant to deal with and very unwelcoming. I walked in at 1030am to order 9 breakfast vegan sandwiches and although the lady at the front was okay with taking the order, she mentioned there would be a bit of a wait. I didn't mind of course, we've actually done this before and waited close to an hr for it but That never bothered us because its quality of food for us, not the excessive time, and with the restrictions of the food, its necessary. My brother and his wife, who are vegan, love this place and a few of us from out of town were visiting wanted to eat clean with them for the weekend but were hammered for it. Mind you, this is my 3rd time visiting Karma cream and have had a good experience everytime and I am exceptionally disappointed with the hostility i was met with today. Kyle literally faced me with anger it seemed and complained on how I was setting him back and ruining the whole morning by ordering 9 breakfast sandwiches, which once again, I told the girl at the front I did not mind waiting on. He proceeded to throw a fit saying they pretty much didnt have the capacity to complete my order and this would mess with the overall flow for the restaurant this morning. Thank you Kyle. Came here on a Thursday night, not terribly busy, which is definitely a bonus! I came with some friends and the staff were absolutely delightful, super kind, and just seemed friendly overall. The general atmosphere inside was very welcoming and quite trendy I felt, positive for sure! I got a single scoop of pistachio nut which was made without milk, and it only came out to like $4.50. Personally never been a big fan of milk-less ice cream, and this wasn't an exception. I'm not used to the taste but it was still good overall, and i believe anyone who enjoys milk-less ice cream would enjoy this for sure. I could definitely taste the pistachio though! Sadly this type of ice cream isn't for me but i can still tell it's quality so otherwise it's a great business. A large iced coffee is $3.60 which is less than Starbucks, and who wants Starbucks anyway when you can buy local?! Karma Cream has the cutest small touches that make the difference to me! They make coffee ice cubes for their iced coffee, so as they melt, your drink isn't watered down at all! They also use 100% compostable cups and straws. Karma Cream has freshly made vegan ice cream, lunch/snack options, and delicious coffee/espresso. I mainly go to here catch up with friends, to study or a late night visit for ice cream. For drinks, I normally get their mocha latte ($4.00 for a large) or cappuccino. Their drinks are affordable and great in portions. For ice cream, I always love their earl grey tea. It's not too sweet or too strong for my taste buds! They have free wifi and is a decent place to study at. However, it's difficult to find plugs and it gets very busy/loud during the day. Parking is also free after 4:30PM. So, I suggest going in the mid to later afternoon for free parking and more sitting spots. This saddens me to write since I've been coming to Karma Cream for almost three years now. I've got their sticker on my laptop and water bottle and tell everyone, friends family coworkers, to try it out. The last few lattes I've received have tasted like burnt espresso, one of them had no caramel syrup at all (which is $1 extra). When I tried to communicate this to the owner, rather than write this review, he seemed annoyed and dismissive. It literally felt like he gossiped about me to his staff. Additionally, my plain croissant today was hard as a rock and stale. Gross. I've also had freezer burnt ice cream several times. On Tuesday of this week I placed an online pickup order for an iced caramel latte. When I walked in 10 minutes later to pick it up, they had not started making it yet (supposed to be ready for pickup at the counter). She made a HOT caramel latte, and I had to correct her and wait a longer time for it to be remade. The coffee was rushed, espresso was burnt, and I was late to work. I brought my family this morning for coffee, and my mom asked if she could have an English muffin (since they're on the menu with breakfast sandwiches). They said NO. Basically told us there's no way they can do that for us... So we ordered a breakfast sandwich with nothing on it, just the English muffin, and paid $6.66 for a plain English muffin. Problem solving! Our solution made the female employee sigh and roll her eyes at my family (how nice). Why not try to be accommodating? Why not charge for a biscuit, and give her an English muffin? Seemed like a huge hassle for a pretty simple solution. I'm past disappointed. Overall I feel like the staff is rude, I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here over the years and gone through so many punch cards and I'm sad to say that I will not be returning after today's experience. Treat your customers better. P.s. when people leave your cafe, it's friendly and kind to say "thanks for coming in" or "have a nice day!" Rather than completely ignore your regular clientele. I've been coming to Karma Cream since the OG days when they were closer to campus mainly because their ice cream is so good! Even though I am not vegan, I actually prefer their vegan ice cream because it is even creamier than the regular. I absolutely love their ginger cookie, cappucino, and of course their green tea ice cream. Their drinks are also pretty good, but the iced london fog (which was their special drink item this week) seemed a little watered down for my taste. Their iced chai, iced coffee, and matcha lattes are a lot better. They also have a variety of vegan sandwiches and wraps to choose from. I tried the pestorami, which had vegan pastrami, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and a delicious cilantro-pesto sauce. The sandwich was really flavorful, but the pastorami was pretty salty. Their sandwiches also come with a little side of tortilla chips. They are usually pretty packed, especially in the afternoon, but they do have a lot of seating. You scream, I scream, we all scream... for VEGAN ice cream! Pretty cool place and great coffee Environment: It was pretty loud. There were some people working but it seemed more like a sit and chat with friends place rather than one suited for working. It was also really hard to find outlets and the internet password isn't posted anywhere, so you have to go ask them for it. All the seating is pretty tightly packed together. Most of the seating is for 1-2 people unless you push tables together. Seems like more of a grab and go place than somewhere I'd want to stay to study... Food/Drinks: The drinks were really good. Everything here was vegan and they had all sorts of milk-alternatives like soy milk, oat milk, and almond milk. The latte was really tasty: smooth and had a really deep flavor! My friend got the Chai Latte which was quiet nice, and had a really strong chai kick/aftertaste. We also got the blueberry and cardamon muffin, which was a pretty fun flavor. It was pretty good for a vegan muffin and I would order it again. I've also heard great things about their sandwiches and ice cream. Location: It's about a 10min walk from UF campus. It's kinda nice to be off the beaten path, so there's usually some available seating / it doesn't get TOO busy. Yet, it's close enough that you don't need to drive :) Price: Not too pricey... latte was $4 for a small (which was big enough in my opinion), chai latte was $4 and the blueberry/cardamon muffin was $3. They also have cookies for $2 or cookie-icing sandwiches for $3.5. The ice cream part of the store sells one scoop for $3.9 and +$1 for addition scoops. What does Karma Cream have to offer? The easier question would be: what DON'T they have to offer? Vegan desserts are the bomb, and KC has the best selection. Seriously, the baked goods at Karma Cream are to die for; especially the cookies. I could literally eat them everyday. Their drinks are amazing as well. Not only do they use fair-trade coffee, but they also use coffee ice cubes to keep it cold, so no worries about diluting heaven. Their teas are great too -- my personal favorite would be a nice cup of Earl Grey, but on those nights where I'm not feeling great, a cup of their chamomile makes me feel a thousand times better. They also have various sodas and microbrews that can turn your yummy yummy ice cream into floats. The food is good. They mostly serve soups and sandwiches. However, I find their food a little pricey to purchase on a regular basis. They are tasty though, if you're willing. Their ice cream is their definite focal point, though. Vegan or dairy, they have a ton of choices. They're always so patient and friendly, so you don't have to worry about over-sampling and they really know their stuff, so ask away. Their lemon cookie, lavender, and cardamom ice creams are my personal favorites. Karma Cream's cute atmosphere really makes anyone feel welcome. Their walls are filled with local art (available for purchase, usually) and there is plenty of seating. The downstairs area is more for chatting or social gatherings -- there, you can interact with the owners or the baristas. Numerous times, they've joined in on the conversation or just shared laughs with us. I think it's really shows how connected they feel with their customers. They also have a good selection of ice cream & pastries, & I really love the unique flavors they offer. My favorites are the lemon cookie & the Earl Grey tea (though I don't think those are vegan). Everything is at least vegetarian, but omnivores can enjoy it too. It's a cute place to study/do work, but it can get a little loud, so it might not be the best if you're easily distracted. On a busy day, there might not be any tables, but that just shows how much people like this place. Parking can definitely be a bitch though. I appreciate their dedication to being eco-friendly. Their tasting spoons aren't disposable, & they use ceramic dishware for customers dining in. I have been coming to Karma Cream fairly regularly since moving to Gainesville. They have dairy and nondairy ice cream, a selection of vegan pastries, and a small vegan sandwich menu. I personally love the breakfast sandwich and the reuben, but the pestorami is also really good! One day they had a pesto pastry that was so good and it turned me on to that sandwich. They have a good selection of teas and coffees as well. I have gotten my fair share of cold brew there. Everything is fair trade.
