Located off Archer a little bit south of I-75 in the Butler plaza area, this small unassuming drive thru is apparently a well known gem in Gainesville. I was told the lines can get pretty long but when we arrived around noon, it was just us. We looked at the big menu when you drive up but weren't super what we wanted to drink. We then pulled up to the order window and saw they had some additional specials and drinks. Intrigued by a couple of the options, the girl inside was very helpful letting us know what each flavor consisted of. We decided on the iced baklava with oatmilk (pistachio, white chocolate, and honey) and do not sleep on this!! Run to try this if you like those flavors!! While it was a little sweeter than I prefer, it was delicious! We also got a hot creme brûlée and it was good, mainly caramel flavored. Prices were very reasonable and service was quick and friendly. There are a lot of coffee options in this market (we went to 3 different ones in as many days) and this was by far my favorite.

Small little spot in the parking lot where the car line and wait time had us being idle for about 40 mins before we reached the window. There did appear to be one side of for vehicle drive thru and another for walk up. A two dollar charge for orders above 40$. When we finally got our drinks and bagels, I will say that the bagels were soft and toasted just right. The coffee was good but not the best I've ever had, but did have light ice so that was great. The smoothie tasted fresh and real thick. The menu was quite large and lots of variety for the small spot that is and everything was received with no issue.

In my 18 years of living here in Gainesville I had never been to this place before. It's like a little house with windows, you order from your car, or through the other window walking. If you are in a hurry, I recommend that you do not go, because the wait is a bit long, although it is worth the wait, because the coffee is wonderful. And the prices are acceptable. I ordered a cappuccino and my daughter ordered an ice Caramel latte, delicious and perfect. It has several types of coffee. They also have a smoothie. Despite being a small place, everything looks very clean.

The building is super cute and there's a nice little seating area! The service wasn't the friendliest, but I understand because it's a tiny building and they need to keep things running smoothly. The coffee was pretty good overall, but not my favorite that I've had in Gainesville.

If your in town in Gainesville and are looking for a good place to have some coffee or breakfast, I definitely recommend stopping by Bay Islands Coffee. I recently visited this coffee shop and their iced coffee is so good and inexpensive! I ordered the cookie butter iced coffee and was very impressed. You can't beat the prices and variety of flavor options they have. That said, it's important to note that this is not the spot to visit if you're in a rush. The service can be a bit slow, so some patience is required. However, if you have the time to sit back and enjoy a more relaxed experience, it's absolutely worth it. Great coffee is worth the wait!

I've seen this place many times in Butler Plaza. It's hard to miss; it's in the middle of a parking lot. Last weekend I decided quench my curiosity. I walked up and ordered, but you can also order via drive thru. I got an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and a smoothie. The sandwich was just ok, and over priced in my opinion. However, the smoothie was excellent. I can't remember the name of the one I got, but it had coconut and pineapple in it.

Such a cute little joint! I was in the area and wanting to support a local business. Bay Islands appeared since I was staying in a hotel nearby and decided to check it out. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted until I saw they still offered pumpkin! I love pumpkin flavored everything so when I saw it on their menu I was ecstatic! I choose their iced coffee with pumpkin pie and caramel with C&S & an Asiago bagel sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese. The breakfast sandwich was great! Soft bagel and not overly cheesy. The coffee was good, but not great. I am not sure if the caramel was added, but I could only taste pumpkin and it was just a hint.

Please, put rude on the menu - seems to be an honest running theme. staff is not caffeinated. Only one person in the HUT at a time. Order food first!!! The coffee was DELICIOUS! The bagels were fresh and smelled amazing and taste just as good. My daughter got the Mango, Pineapple, Coconut smoothie & my husband had an oat milk latte... I tried to build my own frozen coffee, but the rude man making the drinks was difficult to understand and seemed grumpy... so I got a coconut blended cappuccino. The drinks didn't disappoint. The hut just needs to lean into the rude service theme!! Make it fun!

We waiting a bit in line for drive thru but it was worth it. They have enough syrup flavors and different milk substitutes to please our picky group. Once we ordered it only took a couple minutes to get our drinks. The coffee had a great flavor and the iced coffees were amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more flavors but I know now I don't have to wait in the drive thru unless we want to order food.

Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy. Seating is divided between indoor and outdoor patio. Order at the counter, get a number and then they will bring food out to you. Self serve water is available inside. We were there a busy day. Wait to order wasn't too bad and we found a table outside, but nobody was bussing any tables so basically customers sitting down were left clearing the dishes from the table of the people before them & wiping down the table. Nobody from the restaurant came out to help or apologize and it wasn't until dishes were almost toppling out of the bin that anyone took them away. Menu is pretty diverse - you can get some traditional items or more eclectic. We ordered the green goddess salad, croque mademoiselle (ham & cheese sandwich) on gluten free bread & okonomiyaki (japanese pancakes with cloud eggs). It took probably 30 min to get our food. The food presentation is really lovely & feels special when it's delivered. However, taste left something to be desired. The Japanese pancakes weren't good. The egg specifically looked really pretty all puffed up, but was so bad none of us were willing to have more than one bite. There were some other funky flavors going on there as well that detracted from enjoying it. The ham & cheese sandwich was okay, but the cheese is put on the outside, including a runny cheese, so it's a total mess to try and eat. Definitely do not order this one on a date! We ended up just eating the inside portion. It does come with a small green goddess type salad, which is nice. The entree green goddess appeared great when delivered. Loved the light, fresh dressing and ingredients. However, lots of the lettuce had sort of rotting tips, which made me worried to eat it especially since this isn't the cleanest place. Despite appreciating the quirkiness of the restaurant and the selection of fresh options they offer, we won't be returning.

I went to the Luke's Bagels location under the Standard this past week and was disappointed. I hadn't been here in a little bit, especially since Bagels & Co. just opened down the street. But I was craving a Luke's Bagels, so I got there around 8:30, when they opened ready to order. Unfortunately, no one was at the counter when I came in. Someone popped out from the back to take my order a little while's later though. Their bagel selection was extremely limited, more so than usual. They didn't have poppy seed or sesame seed bagels. This was surprising, as I thought this location was sent fresh bagels each morning, I guess not. Luckily, I was able to order a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted Asiago, along with a toasted plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. This took roughly 15 minutes to come out, which was longer than I expected. Upon delving into my bagels, I noticed a couple things that were different from my previous visits last semester. The bagels were definitely smaller, had less cream cheese, and didn't taste as fresh. The BEC had ample amounts of American cheese and the eggs were good, but there was barely any bacon! There was MAYBE two meager pieces on the bagel, I didn't even get bacon in most of my bites. The Asiago bagel still had a decent taste, with a nice sharp Asiago. But it just wasn't very fresh tasting like they've been in the past. The texture wasn't awful, but it wasn't what it used to be. The plain bagel with cream cheese was lackluster. The plain bagel was just fine, as it too was not very fresh. The strawberry cream cheese was decent and not too sweet, which I appreciate. I also like that their cream cheeses have more of whipped texture to them. But there certainly wasn't as much cream cheese on this bagel as I've received in the past! Overall, I was not very pleased with my experience here. The bagels were not fresh at all, the sandwich was lacking bacon, and I just thought the quality appeared be lower. Maybe I came on an off day, but the bagels were not fresh and the assortment they had available was very limited. The texture of the bagels still has a softer center, with a chewy outside , but the outside was too chewy and hard. The size and portions were decreased as well. The BEC had too much cheap, American cheese, and lacked bacon. The plain bagel with cream cheese didn't have much smear on it. For being about $19 for two bagels, not worth it. This makes me sad as I used to love Luke's, but this was not a good visit. I hope next time I come here it is better!
