This yields a perfect balance of smoothness and complexity which is quite unique, wonderful and approachable. They also have an in-house baking program for all their cookies and pastries. Since I'm dairy and gluten free, I had to pass but my good friend enjoyed his cookie. The location is on a quiet street with plenty of parking across the street to the northeast. Just look for the secret parking area marked as a tow away zone. Lowbar has a unique, welcoming vibe with a comfortable environment, great air conditioning, a humble exterior, a spotless bathroom and the right amount of seating. Plus, skateboards! Their small has one shot of espresso, medium two shots and large three shots. Food wise they have mainly pastries that are a good size. I did see a big triangle shaped everything bagel stuffed with avocado and cream cheese that I must try on my next visit. Staff were friendly and didn't mind all my questions and service was quick. The outdoor table is super sticky and also not comfortable (very flimsy metal patio/cafe sets. Not a lot of space for your belongings). Not only that, a toddler in the "no laptop" area is hitting a wooden car on the windows and tables and I'm not sure how I'm not allowed to sit there, but unruly toddlers are. Very glad to have those personal connections. Anyway, I've been here a few times and the coffee has always been good and I like to get the interesting flavors. I've never had food here, but as someone who grew up eating tacos constantly, my friend's breakfast taco that she got once looked standard but personally I can't speak on that, but I think if you're just looking for a coffee it's fine? The dough reminded me more of that of a croissant due to its flakier consistency. The glaze on top was light and the cinnamon inside was underwhelming. I still didn't have a problem with it until I reached the center. I noticed the center wasn't fully heated up and even felt slightly cold. But my biggest issue was the fact that the dough in the center was very much raw. It was not cooked/baked through at all. Disappointing to say the least. I would not return for a pastry or baked good, as I believe you can find better ones around the area for a better price. But I would return to try the coffee. Overall, I think Concord Coffee is a super cute coffee shop located in midtown. The staff is really sweet and helpful as well. I thought the inside was clean and I appreciated the decor. With that that being said, I would stick to beverages as opposed to their food items. My cinnamon roll was anything but special, I feel like one from Publix would have left me more satisfied. There aren't any pour over options, if you aren't getting an espresso drink you're getting coffee from an urn. The beans do seem well sourced, the brewing doesn't seem like it's getting the best out of them.

There really isn't another cafe like this in Gainesville! The service was super amiable and helpful. I specifically wanted to check out Cafe Voltaire for their crepes as I've heard so many rave reviews. And after spending this past summer in France, I feel like I am a good judge of an "authentic" crepe. I went just after they opened (8am) and it wasn't busy at all. While I wanted to try a crepe, I was told they don't start making them until 9am. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay that long on this particular morning, so I didn't get a chance to try their crepes--but I will be back to try one FOR SURE. Since I couldn't try I crepe, I ordered one of the items in their display case. They bake several other items in-house and even have home-made gelato! I opted for a piece of their bacon-Gruyère caramelized onion focaccia. She worked offered to serve it with an herbed butter and house-made pickles, so of course I opted for that! The focaccia was served heated up and was decent. I honestly thought it was a little dry and the butter lacked salt. While this wasn't a hit, the chocolate gelato I ordered to go certainly was! This truly brought me back to Europe and I will need to get some more of their gelato down the road. Overall, while I was unable to try a crepe, the item I truly wanted, I still had a good experience. The focus wasn't bad, but could have been better. But that gelato--WOW was that memorable. You really cannot find anything like this in Gainesville and it is a true gem of a cafe. It is very reminiscent of a European cafe and really look forward to returning. Service is usually pretty quick and always friendly, but if you are looking to come here be careful of the hours. They are not open Monday or Tuesday, and on the days they are open it is only from 11am to 5pm (shortened from the previous hours of 11-7).

Part of the reason I've never checked Karma Cream out is due to the fact that they are 100% vegan. Although my preconceived notions were definitely proven wrong as I had two incredible baked goods from here! The cafe is quant and inviting. They offer plenty of seating and it looks like a great place to study. It is kept clean and organized as well. The service was super friendly and they seem to know locals well. The woman taking my order was able to help me decide on what to try, which I appreciated! Their baked goods appear to rotate, with some staple items and other seasonal/special items. The bakery case has plenty to offer between cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and more! Everything was super fresh as there were even workers bringing out freshly baked items to replenish the bakery case. I got the snickers brownie and a raspberry white chocolate macaron. I'm not going to lie, these items were a little pricey coming in at $10. I guess this should be expected when considering the ingredients going into the products. The brownie was recommended to me and it didn't disappoint. The brownie had the texture of a Betty Crocker mix, which I wasn't expecting for a all-vegan baked good. It wasn't dry and honestly had pretty good flavor. The whipped "snickers" icing on top was really amazing and complimented the brownie nicely. This wasn't an amazing brownie, but it wasn't bad either. The macaron was really good though and it was extremely reminiscent of a non-vegan macaron. I was the most impressed with this item and would recommend.
