I came to Karma Cream after a trail walk with a friend and she suggested we stop here, and I'm so glad we did. I've only ever come for the ice cream before, but this time I tried the ceremonial matcha with oat milk and the Turkey Pesto Sandwich, and wow... I was genuinely impressed. I'm not vegan by any means, but I didn't miss the "real" turkey at all, which completely caught me by surprise. The sandwich was exactly what I was craving: creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Seitan Turkey, vegan provolone, cilantro walnut pesto, tomato, lettuce, and mayo on multigrain bread came together beautifully. The bread was soft but nicely toasted, and every bite was and satisfying. The matcha was smooth, earthy, and delicious one of the best I've had in Gainesville. Even though the place was packed, the staff was quick, kind, and on top of everything. Overall, such a great experience. The monkey bread was INSANE the matcha was okay, I think I'd have enjoyed it more without rose syrup. The chickpea salad was okay, more from a subjective perspective because I'm not vegan and my tastebuds were prepping for a chicken salad sandwich with each bite. Granted, I was trying something new with the matcha and the sandwich, so nothing inherently wrong on their end, just not a fan. Notwithstanding, all of the ingredients tasted fresh, which was a bonus. Very cute little coffee shop on an underserved stretch of University. It is vegan friendly with many menu options that are clearly identified. I'm not vegan, but I do appreciate that alternate milks are available for no extra charge. The interior is larger than it appears from the outside, and has several tables as well as window seating. The layout can accommodate a lot more people than similarly sized cafes. The coffees are solid, and a very pleasant little stop in. I have been a loyal custumer of Karma Cream for almost 7 year, last year I moved to Georgia and yesterday I came to Gainesville to visit and the first place I chose to eat was Karma Cream, I was sitting with my service dog in her carrier with her vest on and when I was almost done with my breakfast some guy from the other side of the counter (I guess is the owner or manager, by the way he should go to training on how to treat customers) shouted at me in front of all the other custumers.. NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED IN HERE, UNLESS IT IS A SERVICE DOG, he asked me loudly for anyone to listen was kind of service was provided by my dog (you can't ask a person with an illness to tell what is your condition, that is personal and sensible information) I told him she was and he kicked me out anyways, very rude, unprofessional, zero empathy, I really loved that place but not going there never again, the employees used to be so nice, only weird people working there right now. One of my favorite stops whenever I am in Gainesville. I love all of their drinks, but I am obsessed with their matcha lattes. Perfect amount of sweet with high quality matcha. I also love their dessert/pastry options (they change) & their assortment of ice creams. All of their sandwhiches are vegan/organic, and they even have vegan ice cream! I am personally not vegan, and I have loved everything I have tried. My favorite is their grilled cheese! Food and drink aside, it's also an adorable coffee shop with lots of indoor and a few small outdoor tables (if the weather is nice). I like to go and study/read, but keep in mind that there aren't outlets at every table. Prior to working in the area I had only been here for ice cream and coffee and it was wonderful. The food is delicious! Sandwiches are made to order, vegan and extremely fresh and they offer a gluten-free bread and a gluten-free wrap if you want to mix things up. The only thing is it takes a long time to get a sandwich as they are made fresh so you can't just come in quickly and expect to get served quickly. Amazing pastries -- unusual and thoughtful flavors. We rode the Karma Cream on the way back and looked at each other and said "yes to ice cream". * My wife got the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie ice cream. We got a cookie sandwich and an iced matcha latte. The cookie was delicious (and vegan!). I enjoyed the matcha latte too. Totally love the name! We wanted to check this sweet little place out. The large windows and clean looking counter matches the outstanding service we found. The very best things are the food as they offer amazing vegan dishes that can be compared to the real ingredients that other restaurants use. Their food is fresh and incredibly delicious. The staff at the counter were very friendly and gave me some samples to try so I could make my decision. These scoops are HEFTY! I definitely could've split a cone as by the time I finished I was way too full but happy. I tried their cookies and cream along with a scoop of a fudge brownie flavor. Both flavors were equally delicious. They had plenty of searing to lounge and chat with some friends. They also have a little water station but the cups are annoyingly small. One of the staff members was nice enough to give me a larger cup with ice so I didn't have to make so many trips. I can definitely see myself coming back when in town to try out their baked goods. When I visited there wasn't anything in the display case that particularly enticed me but I see they typically have a rotating menu. They have amazing choices for coffee, vegan ice cream, and sandwiches (which I have not tried). I love that they try to use organic and fair trade items when they can. Karma Cream was my favorite place to go for a coffee and dessert when I lived in Gainesville. As a visitor this time around I was really disappointed by the quality of their coffee beans. I ordered a pour over and it tasted like drip coffee. Unfortunately I paid $7 for this pour over and the quality was more on par with diner coffee from a drip machine than a high quality coffee drink. I asked the barista if it was a pour over and they said yes. I told them it didn't taste right and they stared at me with a blank face. My friends lavender latte was tasty; creamy and flavorful. However my other friend ordered a regular latte and my partner a cold brew. Both were pretty bad. The beans just aren't good; flavorless and only palatable when masked by a lot of sweet syrup flavor. The desserts looked amazing and usually their ice cream is soo good. Karma cream was special because they served quality vegan ice cream when other places didn't in Gainesville. I didn't get anything other than coffee this time around but I think if you stick to desserts you won't be disappointed. read more

I got the Ice Cream sandwich with Banana Brownie Fudge and the Black Sesame Chocolate Brownie. Absolutely amazing and love the blended taste of the banana brownie. It would take two to fill me for breakfast now. Their pastries are good but they generally depend on the easy stuff like chocolate chip cookies and brownies to fill their case. I can make these at home pretty easily and these are such a boring standard. When they kick it up with babka, tarts and croissants, their quality really stands out. However, the lovely decor is enjoyable and classic coffee shoppy, very cozy and intimate, and it is a great hang out spot, and most importantly the fact that the girls here are ridiculously friendly, offering all kinds of free samples and help and replacements if you don't like your product (which I'd never actually take advantage of but it's nice of them to offer), means that I have no choice but to give them an excellent people at the 5-star rating.
