With a name like Lowbar....your imagination runs wild with all kinds of crazy ... BUT ....!…read more that's exactly the point. This place is marketing savvy in the best possible way, dangling intrigue like a hook! I'm never scared off by a name with an edge to it. If anything, it makes me stop.. lean in ... and take a closer look. I didn't get inside today. They weren't open when I drove past. I'm always chasing the up and coming. The not yet constructed. The visionaries operating on instinct before the world catches up to them The homogenization of business is everywhere you look, the same stores, the same facades, the same experience repeated until it means nothing. That's not what I'm after. I go out of my way to seek and find the creatives with something to prove, the ones with an edge that makes everything around them feel a little more alive. Lowbar is exactly this kind of place. Because of its austere yellow exterior ... it reminded me of East Berlin right after the Wall came down. That electric, scrappy energy of a place becoming something before anyone's decided what that something is. The edgy side of town. The happening side. That rare moment where creativity fills the space before commerce smooths everything out. The matcha/coffee will have to wait. But some places get under your skin before you ever cross the threshold, and Lowbar did exactly that. I'll be back. That much I know.

It's located inside a cute yellow building with Bushel & Peck and has a few tables inside. The menu had a lot of coffee options, but I mainly came for their summer matcha menu. They didn't have any pastries when I went so I definitely want to try next time. I ordered the Earl Grey Matcha Capp. For some reason I thought it would come with a cream top, but it was still really good while on the smaller side. The matcha had a nice bright color and tasted super creamy and smooth with the oat milk. The Earl Grey flavor was very subtle, but worked well with the drink. Cute little spot and I'd come back to try more of their menu.

Only thing that I wish was that it opened up earlier so that I could enjoy it before work; 8am coffee is a little late for us early risers but that being said still my favorite coffee place in all of Gainesville and appreciate the dedication to high standards of excellence.

That's my bad for not reading the sign taped to the table, but at this point there aren't any groups of friends coming in to have personal connections. But okayyyy so I move to the bar seating and it hurt my back to sit there. Since I have a glass, I decided to move to the outdoor table until I finished so I could go work somewhere else? The outdoor table is super sticky and also not comfortable (very flimsy metal patio/cafe sets. Not a lot of space for your belongings). Not only that, a toddler in the "no laptop" area is hitting a wooden car on the windows and tables and I'm not sure how I'm not allowed to sit there, but unruly toddlers are. Very glad to have those personal connections. Anyway, I've been here a few times and the coffee has always been good and I like to get the interesting flavors. I've never had food here, but as someone who grew up eating tacos constantly, my friend's breakfast taco that she got once looked standard but personally I can't speak on that, but I think if you're just looking for a coffee it's fine? But if you're looking for a cozy place to work, the furniture is super uncomfortable and just be wary of their no laptop tables. If I had known this would be my situation, I probably would have chosen one of the other coffee shops in Gainesville that has cozier seating and more free work areas.

Very roomy and well laid out cables and plenty of chairs for folks to sit on . I'm not sure if they usually have their own music play in the background. There were so many people talking, fellowshing there might have been some music playing, but don't recall. Definitely worth a visit.
