Cute coffee shop! Opus has such a great vibe and open space to chit chat or do some work. The baristas were also really nice and the coffee was really good. Probably one of the most consistent coffee shops! I also love the fun drink series that they change depending on the locations as well, it's very creative! My first time visiting Opus and I absolutely understand the raving reviews and recommendations. I was in town for a vintage market across the street and after talking to many locals, all of them recommended Opus. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the matcha. It was bitter and not mixed well into the milk. The matcha powder separated. read more

Overall: I hesitated coming here bc of parking but I am glad I finally did! Come through! Ambiance: There is street parking but you will have to pay if during the days and hours set. I was lucky to get a spot after game day in the Swamp. Inside is very cute and definitely made for students or people who need coffee and to work on things. They have extension cords just for this and I think that was very considerate! There is outside seating to if you're just coming to meet up with friends or just to sit for a bit while you enjoy a cup. Food: They have the Baker and Baker goodies just like other locations but also sell warm sandwiches! It is prepackaged and the baristas just heat it up. I got the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. I also tried the apple fritter and it was good. I do wish I tasted more apple in it but I know Opus didn't make it so can't complain. Drinks: They have other drinks here that are def named by Gen Z folks and some millennials lol. I didn't do an actual comparison but they seemed similar to the drinks at the Opus Airstream maybe slightly different flavors. I just always get an iced latte with no flavor...very boring lol. My friend's daughter got a hot chocolate and she loved it (before spilling half of it) lol Service: Polite and quick. They thanked me for tipping them. Bless their heart. Side bar: they have wooden menus here and I got to read about how Opus came to be and it was nice to know more about the owners, especially that they came from the 3-0-5 like me! read more

Ever since Opus opened at Shands, I've loved them! The hot and iced teas are amazing. Great matcha latte. Pastries. And this location has to-go food (salads, wraps) from Fehrenbacher's down the street. Friendly service. read more

Such a fantastic coffee shop in the Downtown area! Love the mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Really lets you take advantage of perfect weather outdoors. The people working here are super friendly and helpful, and they give some great suggestions if you're having a hard time deciding what drink you want. The Nitro Cold Brew is really excellent. Silky smooth, it has deep flavors that makes for both a refreshing drink and one that gives you a nice boost of energy to wake you up. This may be my go to coffee shop in the area in the future. One of my favorite coffee shops in Gainesville! They have a great selection of drinks as well as food, and a good amount of study space. There are not that many outlets though, so that is something to keep in mind if you need to stay for a while. My go-to drink is their horchata latte- so so good especially if you like cinnamon. I've also had their latte w/ raspberry syrup, which was quite refreshing. I've had a couple of their matcha drinks as well. I've only had the food once- I got a chicken pesto sandwich and it was very filling. For sure will be going again soon read more

I've had the pleasure of drinking a fair share of Opus coffee and boy is it delicious! This location is aesthetically pleasing. Modern, calm, and clean if I were still in school I would study here for sure over Starbucks. They offer some pastries, canned beverages, and even sandwiches. I haven't dissatisfied with anything here. The service has always been great to me and I put this up there in my top 5 coffee shops in Gainesville. read more

Great place to stop for coffee. Service was wonderful and fast. They have indoor and outdoor seating. This place gets pretty full so come early or you might not find a seat. My favorite coffeeshop in the Gainesville Area! OPUS is my go-to study spot. It has an open and inviting ambience and offers a variety of drinks. There are inside and outside seating options, and you are also allowed to bring your four-legged friends inside. Thirsty? They offer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, beer, and wine. Hungry? You have an array of options from bakery items to pre-packaged salads. My point? OPUS has everything you need. I shamelessly admit that I spend 11 hours at OPUS at times. It is my second home. My favorite drink order is the iced AC Slayter; I highly recommend that you try it. It comes with two espresso shots to get you started for the day. I also recommend that you try their fig and brie sandwich. TIP for students: If you are going to OPUS to study, try to arrive as early as you can to find seating. It will become busy around noontime and your chances of finding a spot will be extremely slim. Also, some tables are not located near outlets, so make sure your laptop is fully charged if you are planning on staying there for a while. Lastly, and more importantly, bring noise-blocking headphones. Parking can be a hassle depending on when you arrive. Per City of Gainesville regulations, you are limited to only two hours of paid parking. You also must pay immediately after you park regardless of whether you are there for five minutes or two hours, or the parking guy (my arch nemesis) will penalize you. He is a well-know persona among OPUS patrons. Okay, I'll stop. Now go try OPUS. read more

Coffee was immaculate. The brewistas were fantastic, however the cashier did not give two shits about what I wanted to order. I came on a weekend with two friends, and of course we order individually, because Dutch-style on a college budget. I had to raise my voice while repeating my order multiple times. The girl batted her eye at me every time she asked "What did you want?". At first I thought I was a little crazy for thinking "Wow, did I not vocalize my order audible for the cashier? I'm such a terrible customer ;-; ", but then to my dismay my friends ordered their drinks and came to me and asked "Bro, you were so loud when ordering, I think everyone at the window bar glanced at you at least once.". Docking two stars off because I'm pretty sure the cashier was just treating me differently compared to the small line of people that were ready to order their coffees before AND after me. read more

Cons first: Music is too loud in here you have to SHOUT to be heard which makes everyone here have to shout. A very loud environment. Might as well pull a Feynman and study at a club lol. Chai was subpar for the price and did not have the ingredients made the way it was told to me (it was hot water full of caramel sugar with barely a hint of the tea and no creamy taste from the milk. Did not taste like chai at all and I'm sorely disappointed for the price on a student budget so won't be ordering chai again). Knocked off a star for that. Pros: roomy, super cute place, friendly staff(very nice), very quick service, my friend did like her food and her iced coffee a lot(so def a coffee place haha she got the horchata one). Chairs at the lower table aren't bad at all I can study here for awhile which is super nice. Overall a good place just not the best for chai or for practicing math problems with a study buddy for talking lol. And bring headphones that help cut out noise. A nice spot to come back to. read more

I stopped at this location to get a coffee while i was in town and the area is nice, along with the coffee being good, the barista was even better. if you want to drink a cup of coffee that tastes like the gods made it ask for mckenna. Mckenna was rich in coffee knowledge and made a great impression on me and i will definitely be back to this location. 10/10 read more

We went in with high expectations but were greatly disappointed. The matcha latte was basically hot milk with green food coloring with no hint of vanilla at all and the macchiato tasted like water. Extremely overpriced for what we got. read more

Great example of reinventing the wheel without going too far. If you like coffee already, you'll love Opus. Anything from no frills americanos to lattes to specialty drinks with unexpected ingredients. Did I mention they serve tea and beer too? This is certainly a good coffee shop and I've enjoyed many drinks from hot teas to nitro coffees. The A.C. Slayter (with horchata rice milk) is an absolute favorite as well as their "dirty" iced chai. The negative things about this shop (and why I give it 3-stars) is that it lacks outlets around the majority of the tables and they do not have consistent wifi access... so if you would like to work here for an extended period of time (and enjoy a few cups of joe), then make sure your laptop is supercharged and you have a phone hotspot. There are outlets along the bar-top, but it's not the most comfortable area (chairs kinda suck). So, if you're simply stopping for some caffeinated beverage(s), it's great and not too pricey, but if you want to work here for a while, it's okay. read more

Good coffee and cool specialty drinks with a lot of milk alternatives. Their Mayan mocha is very yummy and so is their chai, their Ozark drink, and their Horchata drink. I also liked their hot chocolate! Haven't tried their pastries yet, but heard they are good. It's good vibes in there, a lot of students studying. I like going there with friends or family to hang out and chat! They also have locations in most hospitals and a food truck by the Food park where Satch squared and Sublime tacos is located. Brothers Tim and Bret Larson founded Opus as a place for people to come to enjoy remarkably good coffee. We provide an oasis for customers while indulging in our true passion: providing the best possible drinks to our customers, from bean selection to cupping, and every step in between. Opus has been providing our devoted customers with excellent quality coffee beverages since it was established in 2002. Meet the Business Owner: Tim and Bret L.

In 2003, brothers Tim and Bret Larson packed up everything they owned into their little green car and drove north from Miami. Their destination was Gainesville, FL and their aim was to open their first coffee bar. But my biggest issue was the fact that the dough in the center was very much raw. It was not cooked/baked through at all. Disappointing to say the least. I would not return for a pastry or baked good, as I believe you can find better ones around the area for a better price. But I would return to try the coffee. Overall, I think Concord Coffee is a super cute coffee shop located in midtown. The staff is really sweet and helpful as well. I thought the inside was clean and I appreciated the decor. With that that being said, I would stick to beverages as opposed to their food items. My cinnamon roll was anything but special, I feel like one from Publix would have left me more satisfied. By biggest issue was definitely the fact that it wasn't baked through and raw in the center. I will get around to trying their coffee at some point in the future.

The coffee is decent but not spectacular, though they have a long list of specialty drinks to appeal to a variety of tastes. There aren't any pour over options, if you aren't getting an espresso drink you're getting coffee from an urn. The beans do seem well sourced, the brewing doesn't seem like it's getting the best out of them.

The crepes were tasty and I love that they have both sweet and savory options. The buckwheat (savory) crepes are a bit more crispy and earthy, while the sweet crepes are super soft. I really enjoyed the chestnut crepe, which had a delicious chestnut filling that was also quite unique. My friend got the potato, onion, & Comte crepe and he said it was underseasoned, so just something to note.

As far as the cons go, the pricing is a little higher than most shops we've been to. The friendliness of the staff is not the greatest and there is political messaging in the form of papers near the counter. One other thing, we are a husband and wife with a toddler and we were literally the only ones there that were a family. It was absolutely crammed pack with college students and they were all in athletic gear. I don't know if we came at the time of an event or something. Overall, it's a solid coffee shop with a good selection and they also have food (selection varies).

The ambience is a small coffee business that is very cozy in the inside with limited seating, but there is more seating in the patio area outside. They also sell other items from the local area, such as meats and eggs.

I went to the Luke's Bagels location under the Standard this past week and was disappointed. I hadn't been here in a little bit, especially since Bagels & Co. just opened down the street. But I was craving a Luke's Bagels, so I got there around 8:30, when they opened ready to order. Unfortunately, no one was at the counter when I came in. Someone popped out from the back to take my order a little while's later though. Their bagel selection was extremely limited, more so than usual. They didn't have poppy seed or sesame seed bagels. This was surprising, as I thought this location was sent fresh bagels each morning, I guess not. Luckily, I was able to order a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted Asiago, along with a toasted plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. This took roughly 15 minutes to come out, which was longer than I expected. Upon delving into my bagels, I noticed a couple things that were different from my previous visits last semester. The bagels were definitely smaller, had less cream cheese, and didn't taste as fresh. The BEC had ample amounts of American cheese and the eggs were good, but there was barely any bacon! There was MAYBE two meager pieces on the bagel, I didn't even get bacon in most of my bites. The Asiago bagel still had a decent taste, with a nice sharp Asiago. But it just wasn't very fresh tasting like they've been in the past. The texture wasn't awful, but it wasn't what it used to be. The plain bagel with cream cheese was lackluster. The plain bagel was just fine, as it too was not very fresh. The strawberry cream cheese was decent and not too sweet, which I appreciate. I also like that their cream cheeses have more of whipped texture to them. But there certainly wasn't as much cream cheese on this bagel as I've received in the past! Overall, I was not very pleased with my experience here. The bagels were not fresh at all, the sandwich was lacking bacon, and I just thought the quality appeared be lower. Maybe I came on an off day, but the bagels were not fresh and the assortment they had available was very limited. The texture of the bagels still has a softer center, with a chewy outside , but the outside was too chewy and hard. The size and portions were decreased as well. The BEC had too much cheap, American cheese, and lacked bacon. The plain bagel with cream cheese didn't have much smear on it. For being about $19 for two bagels, not worth it. This makes me sad as I used to love Luke's, but this was not a good visit. I hope next time I come here it is better!
