Standard Starbucks in the heart of Gainesville. It's a newer renovated one and has plenty of seating and tables. The drinks are consistently good. Parking is tough, as anyone who has gone to this area before. There are bathrooms available that have keypad locks. It was not easy to find parking in this area. Love this Starbucks!! I know that to many, all coffee tastes the same, but it's something about the SBuxx team. It's love in that coffee! Being that this location is not far from my job, it's regularly my morning or afternoon treat. Perfectly located downtown, it's a great spot to grab a drink, write, read or use your laptop, or simply relax. I'm a mobile order kinda girl and have never had any issues waiting or poor quality coffee! I've had the issue of cheese being put on my breakfast sandwich (asked for it to be cheese-less) and recently, whole milk put into my Almond Milk Horchata (no milk for me please!), and as soon as I called them, they fixed the issue both times. The downtown location is very patient, kind and I love that they show their inclusion when it comes to Black History Month, Pride Month and more! read more

I'm so tired of this place having varying hours. And more importantly, I keep having an issue where they won't accept cash. I feel like it's discriminatory, and the staff doesn't even seem to care they're losing business. Today, I wanted to pay with cash, and the employee was like "Sorry, I only have a dollar in the drawer, so my manager basically said we're not taking cash today." This was so frustrating. I'm not going to go to a bank and put cash into my account just because the store manager didn't feel like going to the bank today themselves. The store needs to be better at accepting legal currency. Not only that, but it took several minutes for any of the workers to acknowledge I was at the counter. read more

This Starbucks has the honor of being one of my favorites in the United States. (Please note: I maintain a separate mental list for the rest of the world). Why you might ask if you choose to read further? Let me elucidate... First, it's spacious with plenty of spots to sit and even a few plugs to top off those drained electronic devices Next, it has a small amount of outdoor seating on a pleasant cobblestone, tree-lined street. Third, and perhaps most importantly, it's in the melting pot of downtown Gainesville. So, the clientele is a wonderful mix of hipsters, students, residents, professionals, employment-challenged, alcohol-before-breakfast local residents, etc. The diversity is wonderful. Finally, they somehow stay friendly and professional cranking out the standard Starbucks fair to address our caffeine needs. And believe me, in sleepy Gainesville, caffeine is needed! read more

I have to agree with Dave W. This is one of my favorite Starbucks in the country. And it is the only one I go to when I come to Gainesville. It is perfectly located in the heart of downtown among the hip business district, vibe of the university and the tree-lined streets. The service here is always on point and there's plenty of seating and natural light where one could just chill out and enjoy the scenery. It is walking distance to the farmer's market and the trendy little restaurants. I don't know why I love this Starbucks. One of the better Starbs in town. People are surprisingly friendly. I guess you don't always expect friendly service from a hip-looking downtown coffee shop, but you get it here. More often than not I can find a place to sit and work or chat. If you arrive before 8:30 am it's never trouble to find a parking spot. The only downside? If you arrive after 9 it's almost impossible. But what did you expect from a place so deep in the heart of downtown? Really enjoy this place. read more

I did a mobile order about 20 minutes before I came to pick up my order, because I was giving them time to make it before I had to head to work. I showed up and waited about 10 minutes and didn't get acknowledged once as those that came in behind me did. I work in the customer service industry and I am understanding when it comes to helping people out, but as I'm standing at the counter trying to be acknowledged and the worker looked at me and proceeded to help another customer. When I go to a Starbucks I am getting coffee and leaving. I do not usually sit for very long if at all so I did not mind the remodel as previously mentioned. Outside there are low tables and chairs so that is were we sat for a bit. I was shocked that they serve Wine!!! If it had not been morning this would be great for a late night stop. I understand that people do not like to buy coffee from the corporate giant. I also agree that fair trade and local is the way to go. I have to give this particular store a shout out because their employees have been so unbelievably friendly to me. Way back many many years ago, I had an experience at Maude's that was less than pleasant. I haven't even reviewed them on here because I would never hold them accountable for something that happened so long ago, but I am the type of person who gets a bad taste in my mouth and never goes back (I should probably work on being more flexible). I used to work downtown and I frequented this Starbucks because it was on my daily route. They quickly learned my name and knew exactly what I was going to order. I would occasionally find myself getting caught up chatting with the baristas because they were just so warm and welcoming. About a year and a half ago, I switched jobs and started working a bit further away so I've been coming in less frequently. Just this week I got an early start and decided to stop in. I couldn't believe that the employees still recognized me, knew me by name, and even complimented my recent haircut. Sometimes customer service just makes a world of difference. read more

At 8:45 (they close at 9) the manager (or whoever had been shouting at the baristas) came up to me and my friends after banging around the metallic furniture as LOUD as she could saying "I close my doors at 9 and its 8:50 soo.." The Downtown Starbucks is probably one of the few in town where the Baristas still (kinda) care about the coffee they're serving. Last I knew, they're using the manual machines (meaning it doesn't grind the beans from a hopper straight into the portafilter and tamp automatically). There's still a human element in the coffee. I hope Avanni is still the manager down there. If so, order a drink she invented callled the "Baked Cake" Latte. It's a combination of Vanilla, Hazelnut, and Almond syrups in a mocha that ends up smelling exactly like a yellow cake with chocolate icing. It's not exactly my speed, but hey, it's novel. There's not much to say about this Starbucks. It's neither exceptional nor terrible. The inside and outside are what my grandma (she's dead) would say, "darling." I would have given it four stars, but for some reason--twelve customers or two--the service is unbelievably slow. However, despite their sloth-like vitality, the staff is consistently nice, and I appreciate that, though I'd most likely opt for faster service. I think the atmosphere is conducive to studying or conducting mock business meetings (Sorry. I just don't believe there are THAT many businessmen/women in Gainesville). However, this is only a recent phenomena, two months maybe. They used to have this obnoxiously loud and smelly guy working there---skinny, two-toned hair, probably ate garbage. He's what my grandpa (he's also dead) would have called an "asshole." Hurray for us! I love Starbucks! This location is close to my parents so this is the one the Starbucks app sends me to. At first I wasn't feeling the place for the simple reason I ordered from the app using the "skip the line feature" but still had to wait for my order, as there was a cashier line and served those customers first. The morning crew at this Starbucks location is awesome. They are very cheerful and helpful which is different from the "let's move this line along" attitude from the other locations. My drink was perfectly made, but with a little more froth than I like. The breakfast sandwiches (I got the Turkey bacon one) are not filling, so I suggest not coming here hungry. The atmosphere is good for casual chat or studying - kudos to the smooth jazz playing in the background. The only thing that I would like to see improved are the tables and seating. The tables are rather small and not the sturdiest. They're good sizes for two people and their drinks, or one person and a laptop. Also - a tip I left is to bring a sweater or be open to the chance of switching from an iced drink to a hot one if you plan on staying inside! It gets pretty chilly in here! read more

Probably my second favorite Starbucks location in Gainesville. Service is relatively quick and coffees are normally made accurately. The only real gripes are with things they can't really control. Parking is very hard to come by at this location so be prepared to drive around the block a few times or park in the garage and walk.
