Саша Р.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Let's start with the positive: the meat was absolutely delicious. It was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. That was definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The rice was so undercooked and hard that it was almost impossible to chew. It honestly felt like you could break a tooth trying to eat it. I asked the staff to replace it, but the second serving was exactly the same--hard, dry, and completely unappetizing. The biggest issue, however, was the restroom. The smell of urine hits you the moment you walk in. It's so strong that it's difficult to breathe, let alone use the restroom comfortably. A restaurant serving such good meat should also maintain basic cleanliness and hygiene. I truly hope the management pays attention to these issues. Properly cooking the rice and finally giving the restrooms a deep cleaning are basic standards that make a huge difference to the overall dining experience. This place has potential, but these problems completely overshadow the good food.

Conveniently located across the street from the Americana and Glendale Galleria. It was my first time trying Armenian food and it did not disappoint! The chicken lula plate was amazing and I liked the caprese salad as well. The Armenian cheese plate was interesting too- the block of feta cheese was a lot but it wasn't as heavy as other feta cheese I've had and the pairing with the herbs and bread was great. It almost felt Vietnamese. Loved the watermelon-cucumber lemonade too. Service was great and the restaurant was beautiful and comfortable. No wait on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Knocked off a star because they were out of so many items we wanted- no Khurjin or Armenian combo. Was a bit pricey too. Free parking in the Glendale Galleria.

Right across from the Americana, so you've probably walked past this spot at least once. I've actually been here before during the day with my kids, but the evening vibe feels a bit different. The live violin music that night added a really nice touch. At first I didn't even realize it was traditional Armenian cuisine because the flavors felt somewhat similar to Mediterranean food. Once I realized, it made the experience feel a little more unique. The food was great for sharing, so coming with a group and ordering family-style worked really well. They also have fun cocktails, Armenian tea, and desserts neatly displayed in clean containers, which I thought was a nice detail. Overall, it was a fun experience and a great spot to visit when you're around the Americana.

Best resturant This time was more welcoming Love the food Very fresh Fresh bread I really love it

I am the biggest fan of Caucasian food. Glad to see that Karas offered Khachapuri and other Georgian/Armenian options in Glendale. I ordered to go as I had to make a flight, but I thought my to go experience was nice. The server accurately predicted how long my food was going to be prepared. I also appreciated the interior of the place - I wish I could dine in. In terms of the food, I enjoyed it despite the drive back home. The Khachapuri had a nice balance in taste. The grape leaves weren't too soggy. The chicken was cooked well. The only reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because I think the prices were higher than what I expected. I recommend folks to come by and try what Karas has to offer!

Food is delicious!! I love armenian cuisine this restaurant has several great options! Service is great!! My server Samuel was very kind and attentive to me and all his tables. Very nice ambiance inside they have the tables set very nicely, staff is dressed clean and polished. Will be back! The watermelon cucumber lemonade is refreshing and a must try!

My family made a reservation for today, party of 6. We were celebrating my son's Birthday. We got the BBQ Set for $249, that was perfect! Meats, chicken, beef, lamb chicken Caesar salad, cucumber & tomato salad, eggplant dish, breads, hummus, sauce, plus a bottle of wine. In addition we ordered a Khachapuri, that is what my son was looking forward to! The service was good, the ambiance was very peaceful, loved the colors of the restaurant. Also the person who took my reservation over the phone was also very nice and helpful. We weren't sure of the best place to park and gave some suggestions as Sundays are extremely busy in the area. 1/2 my party found parking nearby and the other 1/2 found parking at the Galleria parking structure near Bloomingdale's. Be careful in the driving structure as there are blind spots of people rounding the Corners going from level to level and it's narrow. Walking from galleria to Kara's was not far at all but we did park on the roof, found a spot near the elevator. When we got to the ground floor, we cut through In-N-Out to the street. We would definitely return again!

Karas is located right across the Americana and after many years of always walking by I finally got to try it. I've always had Armenian food like kabobs and dolma but I'm glad this place offers more than just that. Our server also made our dining experience here very enjoyable. Great vibes here and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a solid list of cocktails and wines. We got a beef in lavash and as well as the chicken BBQ plate. I've never had beef in lavash before and the flavor is delicious. It's like braised meat and it comes with cheese and other seasonings so you can make like a wrap. The chicken BBQ plate was incredibly juicy and tender served with rice, a side salad and a pepper with onions. Everything was fresh and tasted very healthy.

Looking for delicious food, friendly service, easy parking at a place that's not terribly crowded? This is the spot. **Its bomb - request Michael!** I work down the street & used to live in Glendale for years - so please believe me when I say this is a true Glendale gem. The food is literally the perfect portion sizes, but since I'm gluttonous & a major foodie this is what a dinner for 2 looks like for me lol. It's great after work, or with friends, just a lovely dinner spot. I can always find a table & they are super prompt! But honestly? I come for the service. Michael is by far the best waiter I've ever had. You'll see I have quite a few reviews to date and I'm not playing when I say he hit #1. A true gentleman & extremely detail oriented. Made us feel like family and made tonight the MOST special of all the times I've been here. Everyone is extremely respectful, kind, and attentive - but Michael? That guy hits it out of the park! Wish he was our server at all restaurants tbh but every single marker. Thank you Karas for an amazing dinner, and thank you Michael for the experience!

Stopped by here for the first time for lunch. Food was so good and portion size was great for the price. Chicken Lulu plate was also the best thing we ordered. It was so juicy and spiced great! I will definitely be back!

Areq M.

Have been here multiple times, food is good, but there definitely room for improvement. This place has a history of having bad, rotten potato's. And this is not the first time I've experienced it over the years. So it's definitely not one time thing. French fries are heated from the day before. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the plate, but there was only two small pieces of Lulah in each plates, and was plenty of potatoes that were gone bad. Since in many years they have not cared enough to change supplier it's clear for me that it will be the last time we order food from here

Joe M.

Great place. Very good service. Food was fantastic. Very soft beef, wonderful bread, amazing soup (Spas). Ambiance was chill--no loud music blasting, which is the terrible trend now. I highly recommend this place. magnifique restaurant

Beautiful place. Amazing food and great service!

This was by far the most f**** up service ever. Came here with my mom for the first time and she injured herself since they place the chairs near a tree which has a grate over it but not far enough where you can't dip into it when getting out your chair. My mom fell and injured herself and several bruises. They refused to give me an incident report. They refused to give me a receipt that I was there. I called following up immediately and the manager said "no I can't give you one I wasn't here so I don't know if it happened." It's honestly disgusting how you treat people and we can easily sue your ass for dangerous condition. You're lucky my mom refuses to deal with s**** people like you guys. No ice was offered for injury. We weren't asking for a free meal, they gave it to us only to think it would be hidden that we were there. I work at a personal injury firm you s**** bags. Treat people better and ensure the safety of your guest. read more

He was incredibly kind and took the time to give us detailed recommendations, which honestly made us even more excited for the food. The restaurant itself is adorable, too. I especially loved the wall mural filled with children's drawings. it was such a sweet, charming detail and so enjoyable to look at while we ate. And the pizza was incredible! From the sweet potato filling to the beautiful colors of the crust, everything was so thoughtfully made. The arugula was super fresh, they gave us just the right amount, and the proportion of all the toppings was perfect. Even their homemade pickles were SO good! We also ordered the chicken, which was beautifully fried. crispy on the outside and coated with a delicious sauce. You can really tell how much love, care, and passion the owner has poured into both the restaurant and the menu. It made the entire experience feel extra special. Extremely disappointing experience. Everything we ordered…read morewas excessively salty and greasy. I was especially looking forward to trying the onion rings, but when they arrived, they looked nothing like the picture on the menu. They appeared to be frozen onion rings taken straight from a bag, thrown into the fryer, and served without any care. They were stuck together and poorly presented. Unfortunately, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was also very concerning. The place did not appear to be properly maintained or clean, which made the dining experience even more unpleasant. I honestly don't understand how a restaurant in this condition continues to operate. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but based on my experience, I would not recommend it. Case in point. Your response actually reinforces my concern. This was never about requesting a refund or simply disliking the onion rings. I was sharing my honest experience regarding the quality of the food and, more importantly, the way I was treated as a customer. I personally saw you behind the cash register today, and I also saw the condition of the onion rings being served. Regardless of what your Yelp photos show or how you normally serve them, you were given an opportunity to recognize that the particular batch being served was unacceptable. When food is clearly poorly prepared, stuck together, overly greasy, or otherwise not up to the standard you expect your customers to receive, the appropriate response is to stop it from being served--not defend it afterward. What was even more disappointing was the way you responded to my concerns. Arguing with a customer and becoming defensive does not resolve the issue or demonstrate good customer service. A simple acknowledgment and professional response would have gone a long way. I am not asking for a refund, nor am I looking for anything from you. I am expressing my experience as a customer and the way I was treated today. Unfortunately, this experience made it clear that the quality of the food is not the only issue--the customer service and attitude toward customers are equally concerning. I will not be returning, and based on my experience, I certainly cannot recommend the establishment to people I know. A restaurant is judged not only by the food it serves, but by how it responds when a customer raises a legitimate concern. Today, neither met the standard I would expect..

Thanks Eddie for your service and help. During my order, I found out that their pizzas have a base cost which was about $19+. Depending on what flavors you want, they will charge $6.00 for each flavor you build your own. I wanted half Hawaiian and half Vegetarian. Custom Medium would have cost me $31+ rather than $23+ for Medium Hawaiian Style only. I ended up with the latter and also got a regular Vodka Sauce Pasta. Total bill came to $38 including tax + tip. I enjoyed the pizza very much. Crust was thin. Sauce was tasty. Plenty of ingredients on pizza. Square cuts versus slice cuts. As for the Vodka Sauce Pasta, it didn't taste the same as before. This time it tasted bland as if it had plain marinara sauce only. Slightly disppointed about that, hence, 4 stars! I don't know when I'll be back to La Canada Flintridge as I'm usually not in the area frequently. When I do visit again, I'll have to try their other pizza flavors and pasta plus chicken wings. The essence of the project was to provide KARAS with professional adviser from EBRD with a vast experience in the service sector - in various European countries. This adviser has become a highly successful, self-motivated, hardworking senior Retail Manager Steve Winham, who worked at Burger King - global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, as well as major European supermarket chains. I recently dined at Karas Dine-In for my birthday, and I must say, it was a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and casual, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. We started with the Lahmajoun as an appetizer, which was absolutely delicious--crispy, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For our main dishes, we shared the Zharkoe with pork, a hearty and tasty dish that we all enjoyed. We also opted for the Family Combo #1, which could easily feed 4-6 people. The combo featured an array of beautifully grilled meats, including BBQ pork ribs, lamb chops, beef BBQ, chicken BBQ, chicken, and beef lula. Each cut of meat was packed with flavor, but the BBQ pork ribs were my favorite. The combo also came with fire-roasted peppers, potatoes, rice, hummus, ajika, and a side salad, making it a feast for the senses. To top off the evening, I was surprised with a complimentary crème brûlée for dessert, which was rich and creamy. The staff even sang happy birthday to me, adding a personal touch to the celebration. I paired the dessert with an Armenian coffee, which was strong and smooth, rounding out the meal perfectly. Overall, Karas Dine-In is a gem of a restaurant with great food, a friendly atmosphere, and attentive service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a simple, yet flavorful dining experience. read more

Let me say this first I'm not anyone's cousin nor know anyone who works here. I went there with my family to try their food. I ordered Beef Kebab plate and I absolutely LOVED IT! I'm a meat lover so I'm very picky about the way they cook it. Special thanx to whoever made the meat for beef kebab and whoever cooked it. We ordered potatoes with mushrooms, it was very delicious . And we got Shaurma which was okay. My daughter loves mushrooms so she said she loved the mushrooms with potatoes . We were full and ready to leave then I saw their chef making Ajarskiy Khachapuri it looked so good even tho we were full we ordered two Ajarskiy. It was THE BOMB !!! I'm not even kidding I was blowing up but I finished one Ajarskiy Khachapuri and took the other one to go. Please please say special thanx to the guy who made the Ajarski!!!!! The spot was nice and clean, I saw some reviews people complaining about the wait. It took 6 min to get my food which was perfectly fine with me. By the time I washed my hands end enjoyed the beautiful Americana view my food was ready. People must understand if it's fresh it takes time to cook !!! I prefer to wait 5 min longer but eat freshly cooked food. Thanx Karas I will definitely come back with my friends . read more

Yesterday, I visited first time Karas in USA place and was thoroughly impressed. From the first moments, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming waiter named Baglan, who made our evening even more enjoyable. The menu impressed with a variety of meat dishes, and each was prepared to the highest standard. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked, with a rich aroma that's hard to forget. I went today restaurant "Karas" and was absolutely delighted with the borscht they serve. From the first spoonful, I experienced a rich and full flavor that immediately reminded me of homemade meals. The broth was perfectly prepared, combining a slight tanginess with the rich aroma of fresh vegetables. The meat in the borscht was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were fresh and crunchy, adding a special texture and aroma to the dish. Serving the borscht with a dollop of sour cream and fresh herbs made it even more appetizing and appealing. I especially want to highlight the waiter named Baglan, who made our visit even more enjoyable. He was very attentive and caring, helped us choose dishes, and provided excellent service throughout the evening. Thanks to his professionalism and friendly attitude, the evening was unforgettable. I would gladly return to "Karas" to once again enjoy this wonderful borscht and the atmosphere created by such staff members as Baglan. Many thanks to the team for a great experience! read more

I recently visited a great barbecue place Karas and I loved it! The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, perfect for meeting friends or having a family dinner. The menu offered a variety of dishes, but the main star was, of course, the barbecue. I especially want to mention our waiter, Baglan. He was very attentive and friendly. Baglan explained each dish in detail and helped us choose the perfect combination for our dinner. He was also quick to respond to all our requests and was always ready to help. The barbecue was simply delightful--juicy, with the right amount of spices, and perfectly cooked. We tried several different types of meat, and each was excellent. Additionally, the side dishes and sauces added extra flavors and colors to the meals. Overall, it was an unforgettable evening, and I will definitely return there again. Karas Dine-In is a solid spot for Armenian comfort food with a lively, casual atmosphere. The menu is broad and approachable, offering classic Armenian barbecue alongside pizza and familiar favorites, making it an easy choice for groups with different tastes. The portions are generous, the food is consistently flavorful, and dishes like the pork ribs stand out -- juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying without being overly heavy. Everything feels straightforward and honest, focused on hearty food rather than fancy presentation. Live music adds energy to the space, giving it a relaxed, social vibe that works well for family dinners, casual nights out, or meeting friends. I had the pleasure of dining at Karas Dine-In, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The food was not only delicious but presented with such care that it felt like a work of art. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and did it all with genuine smiles and warmth. It's rare to find such a balance of professionalism and friendliness, but the team here nailed it. The ambiance added an extra layer of charm to the evening. The cozy yet modern design made it feel like the perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. I went to Karas tonight for the first time with my parents, I was AMAZED! The food is DELICIOUS, and their service is EVEN better! Victoria was our waitress and I must say it's been a LONG time since I've went to a restaurant and had such great customer service. We just happened to walk by this restaurant and I feel very lucky that we did! Our waiter was awesome. They also have nice outdoor seating with heated lamps. The food was excellent!! Have fun and order more food than you think you should and enjoy leftovers the next day. I highly recommend the Greek salad or summer salad and the Margherita pizza! All the tables near us ordered those two items! It's Armenian so I also recommend some other bread items like the kachapuri or the Lahmajoun. I also saw a lot of people eating soup but we didn't try it but we will next time. Lastly, get the barbecue. To clarify, it's grilled meat. Not American style barbecue sauce type of meat. The chicken with rice was delicious and seemed healthy. It was excellent with an Armenian beer. read more

Nice people, well behaved and helpful. 5. for being neat and clean. 4. Time it took to bring the food on the table. 3. For the borsch which was tasty but cold. 2. The location and the set up is great. The menu is filled with many choices of great food. I have only used their delivery, I never ate at the location and the delivery was very prompt. Some of their food tastes amazing and some don't and they seem to change every time I order so they are trying to improve all the time which is great. Some little things should be improved if they want to keep the doors open, I received my order and the pizza was over cooked, I mean way too much, it was burnt, I mean they must have seen it when it came out of the over but they decided to deliver it anyways without hesitation. I will still give them 5 start because they are new and still working on improving. read more

We ordered bbq and arugula salad. The order was delivered in 40 minuets as I was informed when I placed my order. I would have worried if they had brought sooner than that because it would have meant that they are serving pre cooked food and they just warm it up before serving. BBQ was really tasty because they cooked it on coal. And also, it was well seasoned. I have tried arugula salad in many places; however, this one was the best I've had. It was made with arugula, pear, walnut, and they put feta cheese on top. The salad dressing was slightly sweet and tasted good with the other ingredients. And the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend this place. read more

This was hands down the best Adjarian khachapuri I've ever had. That cheese pull?? Insane The dolma was super juicy and paired perfectly with yogurt - absolutely hit the spot. It's honestly hard to find such a good lemonade in the U.S., but this one was excellent. Special shoutout to our server Michael-top-level service. I take my parents to Karas Dine‑In and we all feel welcomed from entry to exit. We started with the Three Dip Plate--hummus, tzatziki, and ajika--each one distinct and flavorful. The Family Combo #1 fed our group of five perfectly: beef lula, chicken lula, beef BBQ, pork ribs, fire-roasted peppers, potatoes, and rice. Michael was exceptional--he paced the courses smoothly, offered extra pickled vegetables. He handled my mother's gluten preference with care and recommended the Summer Salad. For dessert we savored gata with mint tea. The ambiance was warm, the music gently and the evening flawless thanks to Michael's attentive service. read more

Everyone left so happy and full of wonderful memories--and honestly, nobody wanted to go home! It was such a special and unforgettable birthday celebration. Thank you to the entire team for making birthday so beautiful and memorable. We had an incredible time and will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Even though its not a straightforward one. First and the most thing to remember, have cash with you (zelle will be extra $10 charge on every $100). Their pose didnt work so it was surprising but incidents happen and hopefully it was only tonight that it didnt work. Parking is next door and dress code is elegant at least for the time we were there. It was baptism, birthday and etc. I love the idea that with minimum 10ppl you can experience Armenian wedding with same table set up, apprizers, bbq and etc. you only dont have centerpieces but you have dj and live music and they both were professional and honestly the whole night we were dancing. The whole table was colorful with so many great appetizers options for every taste. Im against leave leftovers while the food is too much and there is no way you can eat everything. Please ask for boxes which i never did before....The only part that was concerning the amount of food that its left. I saw in any other comments that they were other people concerned before so as our sweet Liana offered to take your the and and also she stated she can provide boxes as many as we need...Such a gesture! 5 stars to Liana... we didnt feel bad because there were so many appetizers left that we werent able to eat it...Its like fat Armenian wedding table. And i cant tell enough the deliciousness of food... bbq was great...i love the salmon...Also other thing to consider, they also offer caviar but its red caviar. Its great place to celebrate any events you have whike u dont need to fill the salon to have your event in banquet hall. Thanks to Liana for the best service and kudos to management to manage the way we feel we are in Armenia...such a great night...the songs are mostly Armenian- Russian.... And there was even songs we never heard but the DJ know how make you dance. Definitely we'll back...quality of time! We all enjoyed! I also should add It's reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food we got and the experience we lived...we were here for anniversary and we didnt have 200 guests to get venue so we had same experience if we celebrate it in banquet hall. Also, you can bring your cake, your own bottle...They are also very flexible with your orders.

I was raised with koobideh, and I like to think I can differentiate between the good and the bad. I was referred to this Restaurant by a gentleman running a Persian Café nearby who had run out of koobideh for the day, so I gave it a shot. The building façade is unsuspecting, very plain and discreet. When I walked through the big double doors, I found a pristine dining room with understated ambience. I was immediately greeted at the door by attentive staff and assumed a seat at the bar. I noticed the Kashke Bademjan on the menu and gave it a chance. This is an eggplant dip that is relatively easy to mess up. But here it's absolutely delicious. Perfectly prepared. Reminded me of the stuff my grandmother used to make. In anticipation of the kebab, the server brought me pads of butter, raw, sliced onion, and sumac. These people know exactly what they're doing. I can't tell you how many times I've been to Persian restaurants where these essentials were not provided. Whereas normally, I would have to ask for these things, and often restaurants will lack these these essentials, they were brought to me here before I even asked. Very impressed. Then came the koobideh. And I was genuinely impressed. It was tender, juicy delicious, full of flavor. The saffron rice was also well prepared, and I enjoyed every bite, the entire experience. If you're looking for Premier Persian cuisine look no further. This is the place. As we say, "dastet shomah dahd nahkohn", literally translated to "don't hurt your hand", an expression of gratitude towards those who serve you and provide fantastic meals like the one I had here. Merci.

It's just 1 skewer and if I ordered an extra skewer it would total more than the full meal. I called and the lady on the phone told me to not go by the pictures. They were not able to correct my order nor could I place an extra order without incurring extra delivery fees. Grub hub was not able to help me because the restaurant wouldn't budget. I've eaten a lot of Persian food. I go to Pardis because it's impossible to get into Raffi's Place which has the BEST food. Seriously, Old Fashioned Deli up the street has much better kebab. Their Luleh skewers are also $5 each and chicken is $10 each all to go. I won't be going to Pardis again.

She recommended a party platter or whatever it was called which was I guess just a combination of different foods. The food came out at a normal pace. Everything tasted really good but some of the appetizers could have used more salt (just my opinion, might be good for others)The bbq was delicious and juicy. The prices were actually really good for the way the restaurant looks and the portion sized. The server seemed very uncomfortable and was not friendly at all. I don't think he understood English well enough and that may have been part of the problem. We ordered regular tap water and instead we got an expensive bottled water. When we tried to order a bottle of wine he explained that they were out of many of the wines on the list. He wasn't able to explain the characteristics of the wines they did have. One person decided to order a mixed drink instead and it took 2 tries and 20 minutes to bring the right drink, and then the martini glass was less than half full. The server said it's because they don't have a "bar man". The eggplant appetizer we ordered didn't come with the ingredients that were listed on the menu. The entrees were the worst part of the meal. The short rib was so fatty with hardly any meat. The meat that was there was very dry. The Chicken Tabaka had the strangest texture. The server agreed to take the short rib off the bill when we showed him the quality. On the plus side, the restaurant is beautiful inside, and they had a nice band playing. But I cannot recommend it based on the service and food quality issues.

Our group of 12 chose the prix-fixe option at $100 per person, which included all appetizers and a selection of main dishes. Given the size of our party, we expected enough food for everyone to enjoy each item offered. When we arrived, the appetizers were already placed on the table. However, several items were served in quantities that were insufficient for our group. For example, the eggplant rolls were one of the featured appetizers, but there were only five pieces for 12 guests. As a result, several people never had the opportunity to try them. When we asked if more could be provided, we were told they were no longer available. Unfortunately, this was the response we received for multiple items throughout the meal. The main courses were equally disappointing in terms of portion size. The kebabs, vegetables, and even the rice were served in very limited quantities. For a meal costing $100 per person, the portions were surprisingly small and nowhere near what was portrayed in the photos. The presentation and serving sizes did not match our expectations based on what we had seen advertised. Similar quality food can easily be found elsewhere for significantly less. The restaurant is beautiful, and the ambiance is enjoyable. However, when considering the overall dining experience and value for the price paid, it simply was not worth it for our group. While the setting is attractive, the limited portions, lack of availability of included menu items, and misleading expectations created by the photos left us disappointed. Unfortunately, we would not return or recommend spending $100 per person here.

Now, let's talk about the food: The Lamb: "Legit" doesn't cover it. This lamb was so tender it basically apologized for melting in your mouth with a RPG of flavor. The Kababs: Absolute legends. I'm pretty sure these kababs could broker world peace if we just put them in a room with world leaders for twenty minutes. Seriously the BBQ here is next level.
