Coming here was totally serendipitous. I had planned to take the fam next door to a TEXAS bbq joint but they were closed. So, on a whim we tried Kara's. We weren't disappointed!! There's soo much goodness to choose from here. Kara's is an Armenian chain and this location is its first in the states I believe. We came on a Monday before it got busy. Karas is clutch. It's our go-to when nearby restaurants tend to be a little more packed and hard to get into late nights near The Americana. To start things off, it's spacious, and it's got pretty great vibes partly in thanks to the friendly staff and cultural music videos on screen in the background that add to the restaurant's charm. The food itself is plated well, and fresh. Bread is given to start, which is a mix of a loaf and lavash. I'm not sure if it's custom, but these are served without butter or olive oil, so it helps to request it if you're feeling it's a bit off or dry to eat on its own. Dishes to get: - Adjarian Khachapuri. Bread was pillowy, crisp, and delicious. The cheese was fantastic and the portion size was ample enough to feed two. There was lots of flavor in this one. It's a staple if you're ordering here. - Chipotle Shrimp Fettuccine. Very flavorful, shrimp was incredibly fresh and the garnish/creamy sauce worked very well. - Armenian Scrambled Eggs. This is a nice use for that house bread if you need something to flavor it up. This dish is fantastic. Tomatoes and egg, delicious with every bite, cooked to perfection. Dishes to avoid: - Margherita Pizza. Sauce did not taste very good, and the cheese was not the same quality as the Adjarian Khachapuri dish I'd tried in a prior visit. Was a bit difficult to eat, was manageable cold as leftovers. - Armenian Cheese Plate. It was like ordering produce at a grocery store. Just a big pile of herbs and a block of feta cheese. Somewhat tasty and definitely abundant in portion size, but I didn't understand the dish compared to other traditional cheese plates I'd ordered. No honey, jam, not really sure what to do with this appetizer, but it's a confusing one. read more

First off, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the tolma, the tzatziki, the garlic rosemary bread, as well as the chicken breast and it was all so delicious. We ordered six very different things including two vegetarian meals and everyone was delighted. In particular, the Khurjin with beef was out of this world. We've been walking around the neighborhood and decided to try this place. I was so excited to discover it was Armenian and I have no idea why I decided to order pizza lol. I really regretted it after I saw the more traditional Armenian dishes my brother got. He ordered Borsht and some kind of beef with pickled veggies on the side. He shared some of what he ordered with me and it was all so delicious. The borscht was to die for. It was so flavorful and satisfying. I don't eat meat so I didn't try the beef but the potatoes and the veggies were incredibly tasty. It all tasted like a delicious home made meal. Unfortunately, I did not like the pizza that I ordered for myself. It was very dry. However, I loved the baklava I ordered for dessert and all the food I stole from my brother so much that I would absolutely go back to try more dishes! read more

Waiter and waitresses were not friendly. The servers look frantic and unorganized. Our family of four ordered separate foods and my came out first with the appetizer and no plates! I had to ask for plates for us and they brought out 3 when there are 4 of us. While the rest of my family had to wait for another 20 minutes for their food, I sat ansbwait with them for their food. Scouting for a new place to satisfy our tummies, we saw this place as we walk across the diagonal crosswalk along Brand ave in Glendale, Ca. It looks like a sports bar with indoor and outdoor dining. Ordered the family combo. The food is pretty decent. We got the family combo #1 and everything is abundant including the sides. We are a party of five and we are unable to finish what has been served. Beef, chicken, lamb and pork. All good!!! read more

This place is cute! Its on the corner of harvard, across the americana. Parking structure in the back so u don't have to keep driving to find parking. We decided to sit outside cz it was nice & lively. Inside had live music which was cool! Now service.. The service here was disappointing, to say the least. When we politely asked if we could keep one menu at the table in case we wanted to order something else, the front server acted like we had asked the most ridiculous question ever. She actually said, "Make sure you leave the menu to the side and not actually eat on the menu." Who eats on top of menus??? Excuse me? The comment was completely unnecessary and honestly just rude. It made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable for the rest of the meal. A little bit of courtesy and professionalism would go a long way. Definitely reconsidering coming back here. read more

It all started when my husband and I, along with a few other friends, walked into the restaurant. The place seemed pretty calm, with just a few other tables occupied. Everything looked normal at first, and we were hopeful for a nice meal. But that didn't last long. The first issue came when the food took forever to arrive. Everyone at our table got their orders except my husband. And to make things worse, when the meals finally did arrive, we realized there was no cutlery. It took five minutes of asking repeatedly before they finally brought some over, and by then, the food was already cold. Meanwhile, my husband's plate was nowhere in sight. After waiting for ages, he politely asked the staff where his food was. The server's response was absurd--they said his order of meat had been divided and served to everyone else at the table. They promised to remake it, but after that explanation, none of us had any faith in them. We waited another 25 minutes, but still no food for him. Finally, my husband had enough and asked to cancel his order and requested the bill. That's when things escalated. The server, who suddenly claimed to be the supervisor, reluctantly canceled the order and handed over the bill. But when we checked it, we noticed charges for items we never ordered and even for the food that never came. My husband calmly pointed out the mistakes, and the server printed a new bill--only for it to be wrong again. Frustrated, he asked why the bill was still incorrect. The server smirked and said, "Trust me, I don't want your $3.85." My husband, understandably upset, responded that charging for something three times was essentially stealing. Instead of addressing the issue, the server escalated the situation further by threatening to call the cops if we didn't leave. We were shocked. My husband told him to go ahead and call the police, and he'd wait. But rather than following through, the server stormed off and sent someone else to take our payment. Throughout this whole ordeal, there was no apology, no genuine attempt to correct the situation, and my husband never received his food. The service was terrible, and from what the rest of us experienced, the food wasn't even worth the hassle. If it were possible to give this place a negative star rating, we would.
