I was very skeptical at first because the first time I was here to pick up my order it was self service for the sides... This establishment looked good to try. It was clean and the gentleman helping us was nice. But unfortunately when people of the same ethnicity came in. He hugged them and gave them the priority treatment. He brought out all kinds of food for them. Have them plates napkins and drinks. We haven't gotten any utensils and or napkins. He catered more to them and we were nothing. Although we were there first ones there the party of four got served first before us. Our ethnicity is Dominican Republic and Samoan. While I was waiting for my food to be prepared I saw a mouse run across the floor from the kitchen. I noticed the cooks do not use gloves when preparing the food. Got the chapli meal and the chicken tikka. Both were around $10 each and there was definitely a wait. However, the two owners graciously offered me and my Asian mother to try some of the things they offer at their buffet. Considering the mother has never had Pakistani/Indian food (the owner was from Bangladesh though) we tried the Chana masala w basmatic rice, spinach and the samosa. Mom liked the Chana and rice but the heat crept up on her. The only non spicy thing she enjoyed was the samosa. The chapli def had a good kick and both meals only came with 2 sides but the owner had no problem when I asked for rice along with the chickpeas and spinach. It also came with naan and a side salad. The yogurt sauce was tasty to balance out the heat from the chapli. Chicken tikka...it was tasty boned dark meat chicken but wished for a few more pieces. It was almost 130pm and I was wondering where all the customers were. $9.99 sounded decent for a buffet but then I realized there is an Indian buffet a few doors down that offered more entrees. This causes me to rethink giving them business since they show that they deliver and when you call them they say that they no that they do not. The options to choose from were so limited, I don't even remember what they had. I would not recommend this terrible experience to anyone. Your buffet wasn't a buffet, it was a handful of crap cold hard items to choose from. Your break was stale, when we asked for another bread the waiter said okay...then he never bought it out. Located in Springfield, Karahi specializes in Iranian/Pakistani food. I ordered the bone-in chicken tikka kabob (believe it's combo #5). The plate came with roughly 8 pieces of chicken tikka, chick peas, and rice. The dish also came with salad, naan, and yogurt sauce. The chicken was oh-so tender and cooked perfectly. The chick peas were fantastic, on par with Ravi Kabob's famous chick peas. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was in this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The owners were super friendly too and went through their menu patiently with us. Food took a little while to come out, but it was well worth it. Chicken was a bit tough and the sauce had a singed taste. It's a hole in the wall so don't expect much. But that doesn't bother me if the food is cooked with care. I noticed a new food truck in Rosslyn yesterday and saw that *gasp* my FAVORITE! Indian! I ordered the butter chicken. It came as a 'side' in the container, but once I finished the beans on top of the rice, it covered the entire entree sized portion of the container and it was GOOD. There was also a side of mixed veggies.. Some broccoli and cauliflower in some sauce that was delicious (though a bit oily) and that was also delicious. The service was incredibly friendly and QUICK. Someone was standing outside of the truck for customers to pay so the person inside could get your food ready. The butter chicken was decadent. The chicken itself was very moist, which is the best surprise when I get butter chicken. Some places are hit or miss and some overcook it. Horrible place to get your food catered. The food was suppose to be catered to a party of 130 people that we were attending. The delivery time was 6 pm per agreement. All the guests left 4 hours later, and the host finally received a call at 9:45pm that delivery is almost here. We asked them to take the food back since it was no longer needed. The restaurant owner kept notifying us the delivery is on its way for 4 hours. Absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend KARAHI KABOB to anyone. They are unreliable and dishonest. Our host didn't have any words to describe what had just happened. Never before that they hosted an event and the food wasn't delivered. KARAHI KABOB has set a new low standard to Pakistani food Caterers in the Washington DC area. Please if you want to avoid embarrassment at you next event do not order your food from KARAHI KABOB.
