One of my favorite cafes I've been to! The front of the house has more intimate seating for groups of 2-5 and plenty of spaces for individuals to work. The back of the house has more group seating for groups up to 10-11. So much space and almost as big as their menu! Loved my muffin and the vibes. Definitely will be coming back to try more.
Cute place with a lot of interesting options. We came here on a Sunday at 10am. It was full but not crowded. We were able to find refuge on the couches. It was very comfortable, the couch you almost melt into and the chair was deep, like a warm hug For food I indulged in their bacon and egg Bfast wrap. Very odd but I was happy they were not pretending to make Bfast burritos (that is a sin). My partner got a jalepeno and cheese bagel with sausage / egg. He enjoyed it. My child got the plain bagel with plain cream cheese. Considering it took 20 minutes to get the food I expected to not have to put the cream cheese on the bagel myself. Overall the food was average to below average, esp for the quality being pumped out at local Cafes.
I got the iced coffee, and it was extremely smooth and delicious. Cute place in the neighborhood with lots of interesting wall art! Highly recommend No outside food or drink of course!
A cool coffee shop parallel to Wells St. in Old Town. The coffee is fantastic, but it's definitely not set up as a spot to hunker down and get work done. The counter is down the hallway in the back and there are chairs and low/high tables about. However the staff was nice enough, explaining the options available. We tried the Mocha Latte and Dulce de Leche Latte, both iced. The coffee was really good, a little on the pricier end.
I got the lox on a cheddar and jalapeno bagel and lemme tell youuuuu this was soooo so so good! Will be back just for this bagel. Coffee is always a 10/10

Small understaffed coffee joint that was down the street from our Airbnb Great welcoming and selection of coffees, bagels and teas. Dogs are welcome and given a treat if you ask. Keep up the great service!
Such a cool spot. I liked the variety of seating here - very enjoyable to sit and read a book or catch up with a friend. Very local feel & staff were very kind! They have a huge variety of food options which is nice and very reasonable prices. I got a cappuccino which was delicious, and I went back from the turkey sandwich which was perfectly simple and fresh!
Came to this not as well known coffee place and was impressed. It looked like it may just be not that much of an atmosphere but I actually was wrong about it as it turned out. Kapej is located close to the Sedgwick station on the Brown Line, so it's convenient to get to by public transportation. Kind of a basic menu but it was better than expected. There's coffee and bagels along with some breakfast sandwiches. An unassuming place is what you call it. It just so happened that I was going on by, and I would never have known about this place. This was just by luck and so I gave it a try. From the outside, it looks like a convenience store. On the inside it's better though. It's about $2 for a regular coffee. There's some non dairy milks. It's about $2 for a bagel. One bad thing is there's not a huge amount of spreads to choose from. I got it with peanut butter. There was a dusting of sugar on top. Bagel was toasted not too crispy. The peanut butter was gooey and hot. Good enough to try again. It's a pretty quiet and simple place. There's the main things like coffee and bagels, and the prices are pretty good for these.
Owner was super nice and friendly!! came here close to them closing and wasn't rushed at all to make a choice and he even brought my dog a pup cup. ambiance is so cozy with nice lighting and good seating for all areas, much larger space than you would think before walking in. will be coming here a lot now that we live in the area
Stumbled upon this shop by accident, but I am so glad I did! It was a very nice, quiet, environment. Many different seating options, including high tops, couches, and smaller bistro tables. The chai latte I got was one of the best I have ever had. The avocado BLT sandwich was so yummy, and so filling with all of the veggies included. A reasonable price for what I received. If you are ordering food, be ready to wait a bit, but as I mentioned, very worth it. All the staff were very nice.

This place is really cool with a very chill, cozy vibe inside. I was visiting my sibling over the weekend who lives just down the street, so I ended up stopping in twice. On my first visit, I tried the dulce de leche hot latte, which was good but nothing particularly stood out. I also had the egg, sausage, and cheese sandwich on a jalapeño cheese bagel. It was huge and overall good, but I found myself more of a fan of the bagel itself. On my second visit, I tried the vanilla lavender hot latte, which stood out much more to me. It had a great balance of coffee and sweetness. I also tried the egg, ham, and cheese jalapeño bagel and definitely preferred it over the other sandwich. It was savory and filling. I'd come back again the next time I'm visiting! read more

My favorite coffee in the whole city!!! I work at the doggy daycare right next door and I'm so happy to have Kapéj as our neighbor!!!! Seriously you have to try this coffee shop. Super cozy inside as well. Highly recommend!! read more

I love this coffee shop, the coffees great and the owner is always friendly however today im guessing they have a new employee, a young female with black hair, gave nothing but bad energy while I was ordering my coffee and sandwich. Then when I received my food it wasn't wrapped correctly, it was a mess and it wasn't put together well at all. I always order from this place because it's across the street from my house but this experience has solidified that I will NOT be back. Dunkin on the corner has better service, & I'd fire her too if I owned that place before she fcks up the whole business. read more

Quite a while ago, I saw Kape'j Coffee had recently opened. I finally made it into this adorable coffee oasis and soon became a regular! The Owner Didier is charming and gracious. His knowledge and love of the coffee bean is incredible. He roasts his own combination of several different beans to create beautiful nuances to satisfy every taste. I have tried several and have loved them all. The latte flavors are delicious. I love the lavender vanilla. They offer adorable kid's lattes too. In addition to coffee, there are many teas and some kind of natural energy drinks too. I have picked up breakfast sandwiches that were delicious. There were tons of fresh and delicious ingredients. The sweet pastries are moist a tasty too. The room is such a big surprise. I did not expect such a warm and inviting place. The brick floors, diverse seating options, books, artwork and fireplace are the perfect, cozy backdrop to enjoy your beverage and bite to eat. Overall, this neat coffee shop tucked away on the back side of Old Town is a real diamond in the rough! I highly recommend anyone looking for real coffee shop to visit Didier and his Kape'j Coffee. You will not be disappointed. read more
SO glad to see a coffee shop in this space on Segwick opened up again!! In my opinion this is the best cafe in Lincoln Park, hands down (and possibly in all of Chicago). There is plenty of seating for both small and large groups, there's a nice cozy set up with couches and chairs, fireplace burning in the corner, and the smell of coffee roasting in the air... this place is heaven. Plenty of food and drink options; I'm not a big coffee fan but the tea selection is outstanding. I decided to grab a bagel sandwich when I was there this weekend (the prosciutto sandwich with cream cheese, avocado and onions (YUM). Everything is just so tasty and made fresh. I definitely recommend anyone to come in and grab a coffee to go, or grab a book and take a seat. Either way, if you come to Kapej - you will not be disappointed! read more
I am so obsessed with this coffee shop. A series of fortunate circumstances led me here and I am forever grateful. Living in ~trendy~ West Loop area for the last few years has left me yearning for places like this. A gathering place, a place to study or read a book. Just a wonderful small business fill of comfort and ecelectic seating options. It's also pretty big! I tucked away in the back corner to set up my laptop and ordered on my phone per request from the signs on the wall. Menu is straight forward and reasonably priced. There's no law against ordering at the register if that's more your speed, but I like to get on the good side of a small business owner in hopes of becoming g a regular! You can tell this is a shop of regulars, which I love. The owner is nice when you get to know him! He seems to really value his return customers. I ended up getting a huge cup of drip coffee with some oat milk and just a little sugar and I was truly astounded at how good and comforting it was. I was so happy to be here I treated myself to a croissant as well! It was a perfect afternoon. My love came and joined me later and got an iced mocha with oat milk to go. DELICIOUS! Man I love this place and I can promise you I will travel from West Loop via public transit just to come hang out here for a few hours. Swear! Please give this lovely small business a try! read more

Lovely little coffee shop tucked away in the Old Town neighborhood. Lots of cozy areas for seating with couches and tables and a real wood burning fireplace for chilly spring days. Lots of varieties of coffees and cheese and you can even buy his own roasted coffee beans. read more

Food: Got an iced white chocolate latte with whole milk--the espresso is so rich and full, exactly how a latte should be! Vibes: I had a bit of time to kill so I sat and sipped for a bit & it was lovely. Very homey, lots of armchairs and plants in the the sunlit front seating area. This is a great spot to wfh, chat with friends, or just exist in a third space for a bit:-) read more

Once I tried this coffee I did not want to look for coffee anywhere else. Their lattes are very strong in a good way and not overly sweet. The espresso is amazing. Their breakfast sandwhiches are large and filling. There is plenty of seating and it is very relaxing! The barista was very kind as well. read more
