Amazing food and atmosphere. Hidden gem in Parkdale from the people behind Imanishi and rooms coffee! Make reservations if you want a table but the counter is definitely a great option to chit chat with the owner ;) fast and friendly service. 10/10

Walked in on a Thursday night and every table was taken except one, lucky us! Quick and attentive service and some delicious food!! Very dimly lit and romantic vibes with great music playing! The beef carpaccio is a must! We both got the Tokyo soy and added chili oil, egg and garlic oil- it was flavorful and delicious and the noodles were perfectly cooked !

goodbye philip! i got the tokyo soy with ramen egg ($22.5), the meat quality is really good, but broth was meh. a little pricey

Officially my new favourite ramen place. Super cute ramen bar, love the decor and the ambience. Service was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the paitan shio. What a pleasant surprise it was! It was so good- the broth was nice and light- not too heavy, but still super tasty. I found the foamy broth quite nice. The clams, chicken and noodles were cooked well. I like how they give you free garlic oil- but honestly, the ramen was great on its own too. My boyfriend ordered the duck umami soy, which was better than the one I ordered. It's nice, savoury and has good flavour. I recommend getting it with an onsen egg as it really complements the broth. The ramen was a bit on the pricer side- for both of us, it came out to $26.39 for me after tax and tip. However I find it's the best ramen I've had so far. Definitely recommend it!

Another day, another ramen joint. We'd actually tried to stop by Kaminari a few weeks earlier but the place was closed for the day. So we made our return on a recent Saturday for lunch and the place was pretty much empty. We asked our server which ramen is usually the most popular and he suggested the Clear Tokyo Soy ("Clear chicken broth, Pork, Chicken, Wonton, Green onion, Bamboo shoot, Nori seaweed"), and I also got the Spicy Oil to add in. It arrived pretty quickly and it's very good. I'm not sure I've ever had a ramen with a clear broth, so I was skeptical it would be as flavorful as what I was used to. I needn't have worried because this is one delicious, layered bowl of soup. The broth contains a lot of depth and it's complemented perfectly by the various components. The noodles were cooked perfectly, too. (The aforementioned Spicy Oil didn't add much, though. It was too mild to make much of an impact.) Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole experience was just top notch.

Honestly, I was not a fan. I loved the ambiance - the fact that they were open late night and the decor. The fried cauliflower was good and crispy. However, we got the Tokyo Shio Ramen and the Paitan Shoyu ramen and found both pretty lacking in flavor and overly salty.

Kaminari Ramen Bar located along Queen St. W. near Brock Ave in Parkdale is Toronto's newest ramen joint. Serving up Tokyo-style ramen this place prides it's self on using natural fresh ingredients to make it's ramen broth. They also offer a variety of appetizers great for sharing and a small drink list with creative Asian-inspired cocktails. If the space looks familiar, the ramen bar has taken over the space where Grand Electric used to be. The owners, from Imanishi Sando Bar and DD mau (in Vancouver), have created a welcoming space where you can stop by for a drink/snacks or have a large meal with friends. I stopped by Kaminari a few times to try their food. Service was super friendly every time and they aren't busy at all during lunch times. A bonus is that they also have happy hour from Fri to Sun from 11am-5pm (15% off all sake, wines, and beers!). Food wise, I tried the following items: - Edamame (deep fried soy marinade edamame) - Beef carpaccio (sirloin beef, fresh herbs, peanuts, shallots, DD Mau signature vinaigrette with a sesame rice cracker) - Saba sando (shio-koji mackerel, sansho aioli, karashi miso with shokupan bread) - Creamy shio ramen (creamy chicken broth, pork cha-shu, chicken cha-shu, clams, Tokyo negi, bamboo shoot, red onion). The marinate of the edamame was addictive that I couldn't stop eating it! Ordering the beef carpaccio is a must!!! Although the dish is not Japanese, the Vietnamese flavours of the ingredients shine through and work well so harmoniously together. Pairing the sirloin beef with the sesame rice cracker makes this dish a true standout within the menu. The saba sando was also interesting as mackerel is often a very fishy tasting fish. The spicy aioli worked well together with the fish where it was held together by slices of soft shokupan bread. Lastly, you cannot skip out on the ramen! The creamy shio ramen was so comforting on a cold day. The chicken broth was delicious that I wanted to finish all the ramen broth even though I was super full. Overall, great new place for ramen and snacks! Service was friendly and the vibes are chill. Definitely recommend checking out this new ramen bar in Parkdale!! Will return for more.

Last minutes my friend and I wanted ramen but majority of locations closes early so we found this hidden spot 10pm. We arrived and got a table right away, the atmosphere was very cozy. To our surprise, the prices of the ramen were pretty high compared to when they first opened about 3 months ago so prices went up as I see the old menu. I got the creamy shio ($21). It was frothy, creamy and not too salty. It consists of pork and chicken cha-su, I was surprised the pork cha-su was thin, pink and not charred. The chicken piece was small. The touch of red onions was nice and different but after a while I found it too overpowering. My friend got the clear Shoyu ($22). It has pork and chicken cha-su as well and mini dumplings which was cute and different too. Overall, both ramens tasted great but we weren't expecting to pay so much for ramen as we wanted to go somewhere quick late night meal.

Checking out the NEW Tokyo style ramen bar in Parkdale after a long day of work Kaminari Ramen Bar has a small menu but all items are packed with flavours! They also use quality ingredients and zero MSG :) Can't wait to come back again ^^ Sabo Sando ($14) - #mustorder for saba lovers. The grilled mackerel was nice and THICCC, and paired well with the sauce and shokupan, aka Japanese milk bread Creamy Soy ($20) - I really enjoyed this ramen with the creamy broth! The cha-shus were cooked to perfection, very juicy and tender Clear Tokyo Shio ($19.50) - My partner really liked this ramen with the clear chicken broth. It was also very light and delicious

Decided to come check out this ramen and bar 2-in-1 after winning their grand opening giveaway on Instagram. The ambiance was warm and the jazz music in the background gave out a soothing vibe. There were about 5 or 6 tables for 2 people and 2 larger tables for a party of 4+. I loved how they were very considerate with a coat hangers along the back wall to hang your jackets and purse given the tight spacing. For this visit, we ordered the beef carpaccio as starter, the croquette sando, and creamy soy ramen to share. The beef slices in the carpaccio were tender and equally sliced thinly. It has a piece of homemade sesame rice cracker that came along with the order. Both paired well together. The suggestion of adding a little lime juice to the carpaccio was definitely a bright one as the acidity elevated the flavours. The croquette sando was minced wagyu beef with potato croquette, with tonkatsu sauce and Japanese milk bread as sandwich. It was a little on the salty side personally, but the overall texture of the croquette and beef was pleasant. The creamy soy ramen was definitely satisfying. The broth was creamy from the amount of chicken bones they used to make the soup. Not too salty, and really hit the note. We loved the broth so much that we decided to order the creamy shio as well LOL! However, the shio was a bit different than the creamy soy even though both were "creamy"- the salt was definitely much more elevated and just a tad bit less creamy compared to the soy. The only huge difference was the addition of clam in the shio ramen. Overall the service was amazing and super attentive. The only slight issue might be the parking... it's truly difficult to find a parking on the busy Queen St W.

There's a new ramen spot in Toronto. Now that the temperature is dropping it is the perfect time to satisfy your ramen craving. Location in one of my favourite neighbourhoods - Parkdale. And they have a heated patio. Kaminari Ramen Bar is Tokyo style ramen shop. Their ramen menu consist of Soy and Tokyo Shio in their creamy or clear. The broth is rich and flavourful. The Clear Tokyo Shio is a clear chicken broth with pork and chicken charshu, clam, and egg. The broth is light but rich in flavour. Love that this bowl comes with clams and they're fresh. This bowl is worth a try! The staff are super nice and friendly while being attentive.

Loved the ramen! We ordered the Clear Tokyo Soy and the Creamy Shio. We also wanted to try the carpaccio, but unfortunately they were sold out. Seems like it's a pretty popular item! I had a taste of the Creamy Shio, which was both really light and rich at the same time. I thought it was really unique compared to any other ramen I've had in Toronto so far. The Clear Tokyo Soy was delicious, so soothing and comforting. The broth was light, but flavourful, and the clams were very fresh tasting. The Chasiu was so tender, and the wontons were fantastic too. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The bowl as a whole was very cohesive and surprisingly satiating. I finished the noodles and the broth without even thinking about getting my usual order of extra noodles. We opted to sit in the back patio for a more relaxing, quiet, meal so we could chat over beer and good food after a long day of work. They have really big long tables and benches to accommodate bigger groups, as well as smaller tables for 2-4 people. We loved the soft warm lighting and relaxed atmosphere. We visited Kaminari a couple of weeks back, during their soft opening, so it seemed like their staff had a few kinks to iron out, but everyone was super friendly and really polite! They have great ramen and we will definitely be back to try some of the items we didn't get to try on our first visit.

It's a decent size of ramen shop. There's a bar on the side where customers could order drinks and music was playing in the background, somewhat different from a regular ramen shop. I ordered a saba (mackerel) sando and creamy Shio ramen. The presentation of the creamy Shio ramen was very good which drew me wanted to try the broth right away. The broth was very creamy but not dairy, a typical Tokyo style. I could taste the ham and chicken in the broth. The ramen did come with a slice of thick chicken, a slice of ham, two clamps, bamboo shoots, scallions and onions. It tasted very unique, different from the regular ramen. Love the broth! The sando was not very big with some slices of ginger on the side to cleanse your taste. It was a new experience for me. I have never had a mackerel sandwich before. It was a good adventure!! The service was good. Always had someone came to my table and asked everything was ok.

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The TakoYaki was soft and loaded with the delicious sauce. The Gyoza were enormous. We were both 100% satisfied with our visit and will be back for sure.

The concerned server told me that it may be painful, but being the chili head that I am, I gladly took on the challenge. It was a larger bowl than their regular size and my ramen came topped with lots of corn, some mushrooms, bean sprouts and 6 large pieces of chasu. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

Reach ten stamps and you get a free bowl of ramen. - The chashu is excellent! My rating is 4.5 stars. I'm rounding down. Last Tuesday, I had my monthly 7 am meeting with a bunch of technical writing peers from around the world. It's quite the meeting that typically lasts for four hours. Luckily, we ended earlier than usual. It meant that my workday ended at around 3:30 pm. It was perfect, as I had a concert to attend several hours later. Normally, I don't do dinner before a concert. I grab a quick bite to each before I head downtown. This time, since I was done work early, I felt that having an early dinner was worthwhile. I drove downtown and parked in a lot that seems to be my usual spot whenever I'm attending a concert at Massey Hall. My original plan was to find an eatery close to the concert venue. I spotted Hokkaido Ramen Santouka steps away. I wanted ramen! I walked in and there was a sign that said to wait. I had no wait time. A woman and the entire staff greeted me. I asked for a table for me and got one. It was great. Seating between tables and diners is close together. You definitely overhear conversations and you can't help it. The man next to me had stretched his foot under my table. I didn't notice that he was in my space until I uncrossed my leg and my foot hit his. I listened to two friends next to me. The man seemed to take charge over what he and his female friend should eat, which was interesting. He gave the impression that he was an expert until the server came over and he had a ton of questions. It's always fun being an observer and listener. I had no choice but to listen to her dating experiences. I got a menu. I knew what I wanted. My server came over and was ready to take my order. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Miso chachu ramen, with bamboo shoot held - Jammy egg and corn as extra toppings The menu doesn't tell you what ingredients you get in each type of ramen. However, it does come with a photo. I asked how large a large bowl of ramen was. My server was great pointing up to a display of three bowls. I went large. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)
