This restaurant is a place to keep in mind for your next birthday party! It's wild, vibrant, and is super colorful -- definitely brings out the aesthetics for your next IG photo. The service was a little on the slower side, but we did get there on a Friday afternoon. I ordered the sampler which came with birria tacos, Chile relleno and rice and beans. I wish I could say I loved the Chile relleno, but it was a miss for me. Overall, the vibes were cool and they're right in the heart of uptown Whittier! read more

Went there for the first time, early on a Tuesday ( taco Tuesday) with a good friend. We were greeted warmly, and enjoyed looking around at the distinctive decor. We noticed that it would be so lovely for a special party of any kind! The food was scrumptious! We were totally satisfied, and were dining alfresco, and the time passed so quickly! We noticed others who must've been regulars coming in, greeted so warmly and also enjoying The delicious food. we would definitely return for another visit! Well done! read more

This place was such a cool spot! Food was amazing, service was amazing. We just discovered this nice place a few months ago and now hit it whenever we are in the area. Especially on Taco Tuesdays. $1.99 each. We were there two days ago and I go six tacos, 2 each barbacoa, 2 chorizo and 2 carnitas, all were great. They also have a weekday lunch special with several options at around $14 which is what my wife got and enjoyed. The atmosphere is airy and open and waitstaff friendly accommodating and efficient. We find the experience quite enjoyable read more

5 stars for awesome service by Giovanni as always!!! Minus 2 stars: Music playlist is one of the worst. Four songs length wise on repeat. Although one of the managers on duty offered to switch to a different playlist; asked us for our request but never granted such. During the span of two hours a playlist of four songs kept going non stop. Owners should definitely consider switching up the playlist. You ever heard of Spotify, Pandora??? read more

First time here ! Absolutely love the atmosphere they created, it's hip , cool not your traditional Mexican restaurant the Miches are delicious, their own special recipe. My husband and myself both tried a different enchilada plate both were delicious and presented nicely. It was a early evening when we came but I've passed by later in the evening and paintings on the walls really pop out neon w/ black light type and music is bumping! It's like a clubbing and dinner. Must try if your in the area. Oh almost forgot to give a shout out to Sierra our Server. She was awesome!! Asked if it was our first time and gave us some suggestions, very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. * large patio with water mist to keep it cool. read more

I came here for a birthday celebration and saw the birria tacos on the menu, I had to try them. However, when they brought it out, they did not bring the consommé. I had to ask 3 times before it was actually brought out to me. By then the tacos were cold and I was ready to go. It took a while for me to even get a glass of water. I wouldn't recommend coming to this location again. read more

We celebrated a friend's birthday over brunch and this was the perfect spot! Their buffet-style brunch option was absolutely worth it. They had an amazing build-your-own chilaquiles, tacos, and crepes station, plus so many other delicious options like menudo, seafood, chiles rellenos, and more. There was even a kids' section, which was perfect for her little one. The decor was vibrant and fun, and the music was lit--it kept us vibing while we enjoyed some great food. Despite it being busy our server made sure to keep our drinks full and checked on us regularly. Highly recommend for a fun brunch experience! read more

First time coming to this Kalaveras in Whittier and I really enjoyed the ambience and decore. Our waiter, Omar was fabulous. Very friendly and helpful all around. With it being a Thursday night and busy, he made sure we were well taken care of the whole time. The food was fabulous and very delicious. From the nachos, the salad, to the fajitas and salmon entree, everything was perfect. If you go to this restaurant, ask for Omar to be your waiter and I promise you that you won't be disappointed. Even from the food, the salmon was seasoned and cooked correctly. The nachos, which were an appetizer, was the perfect meal. Finally, the fajitas were sauteed perfectly. Definitely will come back again and try more items from the menu read more

Mateo made the best drinks ever!! He was super nice and took good care of us! The restaurant was very clean. The steak taco was tender.

First and foremost, I'd like to start off by stating that NEVER in my life have I been treated with such level of disrespect. I would NOT have taken 30 seconds of my life to write a false review. The response by the manager is completely false in its entirety. Please refer to ALL of my positive five star reviews prior to this review. However, this experience I could not let slide. Sadly, this restaurant has gone downhill in the last year. My husband and I frequently raved about Kalaveras Mexican Food Restaurant. The Sunday Brunch Manager today was beyond unprofessional. I asked to PURCHASE a mini split champagne, as I don't like over sweetened mimosa's. It was like thick syrup. He then responded by saying that "people like myself take advantage of the $39.99 Sunday Brunch." Hilarious! read more

Great service! Kimberly was very attentive and kind! Drinks were awesome! I recommend stopping by for quick drink and food.

Louie is an amazing server! Came to celebrate my cousin's birthday and had an excellent experience! The food was great and the mimosas were bottomless! We never saw an empty glass! Louie was so attentive, we never lacked a thing! He has a great attitude and made it a party. The music awesome, restaurant had a great atmosphere. Great vibes! Not only is he tall, but Louie is handsome as well, cherry on the sundae! Would definitely come back! Can't wait for next brunch with Louie!! read more
