The good: Server guy very pleasant and attentive. It was the food that was not quite for me. ALSO, feel to warn you that the floor felt very SLIPPERY. Husband said the same and had his running shoes on. Okay first off there was a smell that disturbed me. I believe it was the tables. Like when they are cleaned off with the same dirty cloth. Yuck! We started off with were empanadas chicken and beef. Husband said beef was better than chicken. The chicken ones were too spicy. The chimichurri sauce too spicy. Husband reminded me it that it did say that in the description but I was expecting more of an authentic taste at least a little bit! He was happy with his red enchiladas. My albondigas soup was too red and again overly spicy. The meatballs were hard not tender. Vegetables were tiny pieces. Well, it's Chain food Mexican so you get what you get but we thought we'd give it a chance. Whomever is in charge of the menu needs to revamp the taste. When in the mood for Mexican food for me I will stick to the mom and pop where the flavor is for real and I can add heat as needed. read more

Louie killed it! me and a bunch of girlfriends went out for a much needed outing and I was lucky that this place is down the street from me and had such a amazing experience and did I mention Louie was our waiter and he killed it!!! Loved the buffet but wish there were 3 separate lines instead of one line for chilaquiles. omelet, and tacos. other then that 5 stars!! read more

So first of all the best! Did you hear me!? The best! This place is genius! They take Mexican food to a whole new level. Now let's head into drinks. I ordered the Chupacabra $13 happy hour/drink specials of the day $9. It went down so fast I had to order two! Now on to food. Ordered the Mocahete $45 included chorizo, steak, shrimp, chicken and mmmm this infused Latin flavors were in every bite! The atmosphere was hip and made you want to get up and dance definitely a fun yet yum place to be. Great service and great food. Phenomenal decor and premises kept clean. Free parking out front. Came in here from LA was in the area doing something and saw their street. Signs advertise for their margaritas came in and ordered the mango margarita with a Chamoy rim delicious have a great happy hour with amazing appetizers that you can try for $7.99 Service was right away and the ambience is very nice place had a few tables of everybody enjoying themselves. the servers were all smiling and working, not on their phones in some typical places everyone seem to be doing their job and having a good efficiently, timely manner to take care of all the guest. There is some fun lighting at the bar as well as TV throughout the area to display sports and what's going on with the time frame? read more

Kalaveras - This is the mango margarita and the queso beer tacos on happy hour - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Whittier, California

Food was good including portions and temperature. Most Mexican restaurants will bring chips and salsa to the table, not here. It's only UPON REQUEST. So if you like to have chips and salsa, make sure you order it. They won't tell you it's available. I ordered the quesabrria tacos and they forgot my consume, I was already half way done when I realized it. The menu is very limited. There is no combination combos like other restaurants. read more

Went on a random late Thursday night and the restaurant was pretty busy! The hostess gave us a few different options when it came to seating and even cleared a table when my friend mentioned that she didn't want to be near other people. Inside felt like I was in a mini rave with all the neon colors. They did have a large party so food and drinks did come out a bit slow. There seemed to be only one bartender who was busting out drinks left and right. The margaritas were pretty good, the chamoyada was our favorite. My friend was obsessed with guacamole and chicharron as well as the potato taquitos! Overall not a bad place to grab some drinks and food! read more

Food is average. I got the empanadas and the beef and chicken tasted exactly the same. The spinach one tasted bitter. Mushroom taco was dry and flavorless. They did serve our food quickly but they forgot some of our drinks. We wish they hadn't brought it to us because one bland lemonade was $5!!! It's really dark in there so you can barely read the menu. Take a flashlight Our server, young blonde girl with a ponytail had the nastiest little attitude. I think her name was Chanel, but not sure because she didn't tell us here name but it was on the receipt. Our bill was almost $500 and it was a group of 10 adults and 3 kids, but most of us ordered mostly tacos. What made it expensive was that they charged us $70 for her tip. We're definitely not coming back here. read more

Really good food with food service. Kim was great. Chips and guac and tacos are great

It's not what it's used anymore. My wife goes with her coworkers all the time. Food was plain. Drinks always great! Mojitos and micheladas. I was looking forward to carne asada plate but seemed like avocado was sitting for a while. Guacamole was dark. Aguachiles we asked if they would be spicy. Waiter said yes. Plain no flavor watered down. As mentioned seems like it was sitting for a while. Not spicy, not enough lime . Best part were the slides of cucumbers. Barbacoa tacos were good in comparison to everything else. read more

The environment was family friendly. There is a bar area for those who want to drink. Inside, it is full of cool lighting and good vibes. The service was fairly quick. We got quesabirrias tacos and a barbacoa taco which tasted great with the sauce that was provided. Great place to go eat with friends or family read more

Yay I was so excited to finally try Kalaveras. They have been on my list for a bit and luckily co-workers were down to have brunch here. First off, the food - absolute flavor bomb! I dove into some pancakes that were like amazing, And don't get me started on the drinks; their mimosa flight was a game changer. Now, let's talk vibe - the atmosphere is this perfect blend of fun and vibrant. You've got the cool background music, colorful decor, and just an overall good time feeling. But, here's the pro tip - the service is what sealed the deal for me. Super attentive without being overbearing, they made sure my brunch experience was top-notch. Kalaveras has officially become my go-to for a Mexican brunch fiesta that hits all the right notes. read more

Gio makes this place worth coming to! I've been here before and had bad experiences -- literally have sat down and waited for 10-15 mins with absolutely no one checking on me, offering a menu or even a glass of water, and have walked out on that awful service. I also have been here when Gio was working, and it's such a completely different experience!! He's kind, attentive, extremely fast, efficient and overall delivers just a top-notch experience for the customer. I pretty much only come here when he's here, because the service from everyone else pales in comparison to his elite service skills! The drinks he makes are great -- try the piña margarita; it's delicious! Happy hour is great with him as your server. 5+ stars for his service; had to remove a star for the subpar service on the times I've attended and other people have straight up ignored me. Go when Gio is there and tip him well!! read more
