I took my mom to Kalaveras. I give the food 5 stars and the service would be 3, the latter being purely transactional, but okay. Overall, the experience was very good, but what happened at the end spoiled it. The server brought our bill, which came to 44.10. I gave her $60.00--so my change was 15.90. What I got back was 15.00. I called the server over and let her know. She was miffed that I called her out about my .90 cents. In the end she gave it to me but was very unfriendly about it. Here's the thing-I really hate being put in a position to have to call out businesses to do the right thing these days. If you want to round, round in favor of the customer. I hate leaving bad reviews so I'm going to just leave advice. Consider changing the chicken tacos to shredded chicken. Harder to mess up The meat was super rubbery and the chipotle mayo was excessive. Shredded chicken with spices served with lettuce are simple and way more tasty Lastly, please stop using Fabulouso cleaning products. The smell is so strong. It's one thing when the smell makes it way out of the bathroom and into the dining area, but when the staff mops under the table next to you when you're eating the smell gets in your mouth. Ok so it's 5 stars based on a small sample size but oh my goodness were our 3 items so delicious. It was just me and a girlfriend meeting up for a quick late night pre-thanksgiving drink. Ok so the food: The Taquitos Dorados were made with papa y chorizo. You get 5 taquitos perfect for sharing and as you can see from the photos we each got a Margarita. I don't recall what her yellow margarita was, but she said it was good. I got El Chupacabras and it's Hibiscus flavor that is so delicious and refreshing! We can't wait to go back at a proper hour (not an hour before closing, smh) to try more food. On a side note, although we showed up an hour before closing, the hostesses were very kind and our server was very attentive. So 5 stars to the staff! read more

Another dish I recommend at Kalaveras. I also ordered a coke and to my surprise it was the mexican bottled coke served ice cold. The mimosas are also my go to for brunch. We got some drinks from the happy hour menu and Everything was great! The "El chamuco" I believe was my favorite super refreshing and dangerously did not taste the alcohol, but surely felt it. For dinner I got the Shrimp enchiladas and let me tell you they are FANTASTIC. Not sure what the sauce is that they use, but super yummy and the avocado on top was very fresh. It also came with a side of beans and rice which were only ok. I wish there were alternatives to the sides, but I didn't see that on the menu maybe next time I'll ask if they offer substitutions. However, the enchiladas were so good I went back on Tuesday with another friend just to get them again lol so 5/5 for those.
